I work on bikes for a living. This is not my first ultrasonic cleaner. I've been running them for years. This unit immediately set the tone when I picked it up. There's more here then the other less expensive units I have had. Its a heavier tool than the exact same capacity from other makers. The actual cleaning ability of the machine seems to be superior to other units of lesser price point and it performs at a lower decibel level. Another attribute, but very important to me, is the heating unit is far faster to achieve temps and the thermostat controlling it is near silent when coming on and off. Other lesser units emit a click on and off all day that can drive you up the wall. This DK unit is a non issue in that regard. At first I balked at the additional cost but for someone who uses them on a daily basis this unit is well worth the premium. ... show more

We own a small engine repair shop and purchased the 15L for carburetors and other parts. This unit works so well, we plan on purchasing a smaller one for 2cycle carbs and smaller jobs. The unit is relatively quiet, and the large touch is very easy to control. It heats very well, and is quite insulated. After shutting the unit off, the water is still in the 90’s the next day! (as long as you put the lid on.). The temperature is accurate, and within 1 degree. (Checked and monitored with our Fluke thermometer.) Once the temperature is reached, the heater shuts off and turns back on as necessary to keep it at the desired setting. We found that the water usually only gets hotter as you run the unit from the heat of the electronics or perhaps the ultrasonic effects? But usually increases a degree or two. It has a cooling fan in the bottom as the electronics do generate some heat. We have put several carburetors through the unit so far, and we are impressed! The pictured carburetor is off of a snowblower and hadn’t been used in several seasons. After a 30 minute cycle of full wave, and an additional 10 minute on sweep, with water temperature at 150C, the results are impressive! Whats even more impressive? We have been using just water! We did try another carb with some dawn dish soap to experiment, but results have been remarkable. As another experiment, we took some air filters from Husqvarna chainsaws and put them through the half wave cycle. After just 5 minutes those things came out looking like new! We have also done a couple spark arrestor screens, and even tried a fowled spark plug. It actually done really well. As for the longevity of this unit, time will tell. But it does seem built quite well, and comes packaged very well also. So far we are impressed, and the unit is paying for itself. ... show more

UPDATE: A couple of years later, I pulled it off the shelf to use it for, really, just the fourth time. And it failed. I filled it and loaded it, but when I pressed the button for it to begin, there was a flash visible through the control panel, and it didn't generate the ultrasonic frequencies anymore. It did still heat though, for what it's worth. But also, it was leaking internally. Cleaning solution was coming out of the inside of the case, so I suspect something went wrong between the drain in the tank and the drain valve on the outside- and that may have shorted out something inside. PREVIOUS REVIEW: This is my first experience with an ultrasonic cleaner, and it went well- but obviously that means I have nothing to compare it to. I'll admit that the main reason I bought the DK Sonic was because it had a different control panel style than pretty much all of the other brands in the price range, and that made me think that maybe it had been designed rather than copied. Who knows? It's not outrageously loud, it's not terribly quiet. I didn't want to be around it too much while it was running, and my dog didn't like it, but I was able to set it to run for an hour before going to do something else, and it didn't bother me. In an hour of heated cleaning it was able to thoroughly remove scale from a decade of espresso machine use. Keeping the parts in vinegar in a ziplock bag inside the main tub of water worked fine. Maybe the vinegar alone would have been enough, but I doubt it. Having an ultrasonic cleaner does make you want to find stuff to clean. The grammar in the manual is good for a chuckle, but all of the information you need is there. ... show more

Wish I could give this Ultrasonic 5-stars... But, considering the accessories were loosely packaged on the top of the units top lid which left a discolored, scratched surface -and- a slightly dented face of the unit near the control panel due to poor packaging, I respectfully removed a star. The damage should/could have been avoided IMHO ~ with a little forethought and attention to detail by the OEM, which is naturally expected for a product in this elevated price point. As for the build quality, it feels solid as it is heavier than I anticipated (in a good way). However I am unable to vouch for the longevity of the product as I only recently received it and used it sparingly. Aside from detail in packaging, I would still refer this ultrasonic cleaner model to a friend. ... show more

    • Bad Tray insulation... but CS took care of me

The unit is operational but the tray that comes with it has very old (like used) leg insulation. 3 of 4 are cracked or deteriorated. When i first touched them, tiny particles like smoke came out and I could see they are barely insulating the tray from the tank. I don’t have a way of replacing them because the legs are welded. If the supplier don’t contact me after this review, I will be returning the unit and look for other brand. UPDATE: Customer service contacted me and ordered me a replacement tray/basket. I just received it and the insulations are good. Adding 2 stars for excellent CS and quick response from DK Sonic. ... show more

I like and enjoy using the DK Sonic cleaner. 1. The instructions should be proofread by an American. 2. It needs a better way to remove the sediment from the bottom.
