These magnets are rated as having a 200 lb pull, and I believe it! The magnets are shipped in a small box within a plastic bag. All four magnets are in the bag but each pair of magnets is stuck to another magnet. That is, each pair of magnets are stuck to each other. I found it EXTREMELY hard to separate one magnet from another. In fact it is slightly dangerous to try to separate them because the pull is so strong that they want to snap back together. This could easily damage a finger if you're not very careful. I had planned to use them to hold down a heat shade on the outside of my car. Due to the strength of the magnets, I then became worried that they could damage the paint on my car. However, when I tried bringing the magnet close to the shade cloth on the car I found it was not too strong, but strong enough to hold the shade cloth in place, even on a windy day. With the shade cloth between the car and magnet I was able to pull the magnet away from the metal of the car to put them away again. It seems like these are perfect for the purpose that I had in mind for their use. You just have to be VERY careful bringing one magnet close to another magnet to store them back in their box. I decided to separate the two magnets with a folded paper towel when I store them, and that worked to make it easier to bring them together and to later separate them again. ... show more

I bought these for my husband's garage. We use them to hang keys on at first but realized how strong they actually are we strap our extension cords and hook the strap onto these and it holds. You need a lot of strength to remove them from a good surface. These magnetic hooks are great I will be buying more in the near future. My husband is a mechanic and use them for many things and to hold many things they work great I even have some on my work truck.
