When shopping for my daughter's first major Halloween costume, I was looking for three things: accuracy, comfort, and durability. This Deluxe Boo Monster Tunic Costume surpassed all my expectations and is higher quality than I would’ve expected at this price. It’s a meticulously crafted piece of dress-up gear and we were so impressed. I. Construction & Materials: Where the Quality Shines • The Tunic (Purple Body): The exterior fabric has a subtle, reptilian scale-like print that gives the costume an authentic monster texture, completely true to the movie. The foam shell inside is light enough for easy mobility but structured enough to hold the iconic oversized, rounded shape perfectly. The stitching along the elasticated bottom hem is tight and professionally finished, ensuring it won't fray after repeated use or spot cleaning. • The Sleeves & Mitts: The white top piece features soft, fuzzy "fur" on the sleeves that is incredibly plush. Crucially, the attached hand mitts have a clever slit opening (a feature often overlooked in other costumes) which allows my daughter to easily use her hands to hold her trick-or-treat bucket, eat snacks, or hold my hand without having to remove the entire sleeve. This is a game-changer for toddlers. II. Fit, Comfort, and Sizing Insight I purchased the 2T/3T size for my 2-year-old (who typically wears 2T clothes, is 34" tall, and weighs 30 lbs). • Fit: It runs slightly loose, which is ideal. The costume fit great and was great quality. Everyone knew right away that my daughter was “Boo” even when she wasn’t with her themed siblings. My biggest issue was the hat. It was cute until we put it on her head. She’s 4 and it kept falling off. After a few quick steps her hat would fall back and as you can see in the picture, she’s trying to hold it on and prevent it from pulling on her throat as it fell off the top of her head. Cute idea but bad execution, it needs to be lighter or have a better attachment mechanism. I tried using Bobby pins to hold it in place but those didn’t work. She ended up taking it off after trick or treating at a couple houses and then no one knew who she was without her being with her siblings :/ ... show more

I got this for my 2-year-old for Halloween. It comes as three pieces - a little shirt with the tentacle sleeves, a purple vest, and the purple hood with the googly eyes. There are no pants or leggings included so you will have to find something to coordinate. The shirt has little holes near the end of the sleeves so hands can be out or covered - this is a good thing because my daughter got frustrated not being able to grab candy for herself. The shirt is the lowest quality item of the set - a few times on and off and the fabric ripped right next to the Velcro at the neck. That wasn't a big deal since it gets covered by the vest anyway. The vest slides on over the arms and velcros up in the back. It's pretty thick and sturdy feeling, a little padded. The hood is made similarly, but the designer did not think about the logistics of keeping the hood secured to a child's head; inside the top is a little pad to protect their head from where the eyes attach, presumably. Attached to this is a little cap of stretchy fabric meant to go over the child's head and velcro under the chin. The problem is that it is not large enough or sturdy enough to stay - it was always slipping off backwards or coming unhooked. All that said, the quality of the eyes, hair, teeth, etc are fantastic and look just like you would expect from the movie. My solution was to sew the hood onto the vest so it behaved more like a hoodie, though it still fastened in the back which made it a bit awkward. I tried to get some pictures of this but it is a bit difficult to show. By doing this I could let the top of the hood fall back like it is often worn in the movie, which my daughter preferred, and then put it up on her head for pictures. It actually worked best in the stroller, cause it stayed propped up but didn't block her face so she didn't notice. Long story short, if you are crafty and like doing some DIY, this is a super costume with a bit of work. If you want something ready to go right out of the box, keep looking. ... show more

My toddler is basically Boo, so obviously we had to splurge a little on the perfect halloween costume. The hood doesn’t stay up very well and when it does stay, she couldn’t see anything. But…accurate to the movie, I guess? We got so many compliments on this costume and a ton of cute photos and videos! I was hoping to size down after reading the reviews but the only thing available was her size and it ended up being a perfect oversize fit.
