I bought this for my 8 year old; I was concerned about if he would be too tall for it but it works well enough for him. He's about 55" tall and about 60lbs. The yoshi legs stop right at his ankles, so it's a great length; the Mario legs look silly bc they are so tiny and he fills out the body so fully but it's good enough. As others have said one of the Mario legs goes right over the fan which is just asking for the motor to blow out so we put Velcro adhesive dots on the Mario leg & the yoshi body and this holds the leg away from the fan just fine. The fan also fell out of the yoshi body when he was jumping but we were able to put it back in. My 5 year old also tired this on; he's about 47" tall & about 55lbs. Unfortunately, with his smaller stature he doesn't fully fill out the overalls of the Mario part and a lot of air escapes so the yoshi head is not fully inflated & looks droopy. When he squats down it floods air into the yoshi head making it pop up and everyone thinks it's hysterical. ... show more

A lot of reviews talk about the fan going out and I think the main reason for that is the Mario leg blocking the fan. We immediately pinned the leg back using strong Velcro and it stayed well. My son has used this costume three times now in the last week and we haven't changed the battery's yet. I'll put fresh one in for trick or treating tonight but we've gone to three different Halloween events that have lasted a few hours each and this costume has held up well. The shoulder strap is starting to fray a bit, but I feel like it still has several wears before that gives way. The power box has to clip to something so he wears sweatpants underneath and it clips to the waistband. It has fallen off a few times and we fish it out from the leg and clip it back but that's usually when he's running and jumping around. You do need to buy the shirt and mustache separately. Got this for my 9yo for Halloween. The fan only made it through one trick-or-treat event and died fairly quickly (like dead, dead and not a battery problem). It was decent quality and it worked well for awhile. Not sure if the kid had fiddled with the fan/battery pack too much or if it might have been a bad fan. He loved it while it worked! The air intake for the blower on this costume is placed under the Mario leg. The leg would need to be lifted at times to have enough air to blow up the costume. The Yoshi head did not seem to fully inflate but it was doable.

The leg covers the fan so will blow the motor if you don't find a way to put the leg up off it (double sidded tape maybe) also can find in town for cheaper. I don't belive there is a batter pack holder that also so it floats in there.

The air escapes via the belly hip area as its not tight there or the fan isnt strong enough for the costume. Yoshi's head was always half inflated.
