I needed a large storage box to place under our baker’s rack (in our basement). Since I couldn’t find a decent box in the exact size that I needed, I decided to make one by using some Amazon shipping boxes and the furniture boxes that came inside of it…lol. I also used some brown “marble” contact paper that I brought for another project of mine in which I made two lids for two storage boxes that had no lids (please see attached pictures). Though the brown ‘marble’ contact paper is beautiful, it’s very shiny and being a cheaper lower quality brand (as opposed to this one!), it wasn’t very easy to apply without causing major mishaps and damages to it. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to waste what’s left of it, which was plenty to cover the rather large box that I made but low quality apart, I didn’t want a whole lot of “shiny marble paper”, not to count creases, bubbles, rips, and other defects all over the box. So I decided to look for a good “contrasting” solid color contact paper to go with the brown ‘marble’ paper and am so glad that I came across this one! Application: As with most (if not all) “peel & stick contact paper jobs”, it required a bit of care and patience on my part but nothing extraordinary or that I’m not used to. This contact paper certainly didn’t pose as much trouble as I expect when using lower grade cheap contact papers. Then again, it wasn’t necessarily cheap…but I personally feel it’s reasonably priced. As with many contact paper rolls, I found that this paper also became wrinkled as soon as I try to open (extend) the roll. Fortunately, and unlike the brown marble contact paper, such thing was of no consequence as it didn’t cause permanent wrinkles or tears to this contact paper. It looked pretty bad when I stretched out the roll but if you look at my pictures, this paper shows zero wrinkles after I applied it to the box! And no, I didn’t do anything different or “special”. In fact, by the time I applied this contact paper to the box, I was super tired from making the box! I’m very petite/thin and suffer from serious spinal issues so I thought about waiting until the following day but wanted to “get it over with”. I’m just glad that this contact paper is much better quality than the pretty brown marble contact paper that I purchased last week. Before I applied the contact papers to the box, I covered the entire box with white “presentation” paper boards. I used a bit thicker and more lustrous presentation paper than that which we find at places like the dollar store. However, I’m pretty sure that “thinner/opaque/cheaper” kinds of presentation paper would work just as well! I just wanted to make sure that the box lining was smoother than the cardboard panels I used to make it. To me, it was especially important to have smoother surface over the outer panels, where I’d apply this contact paper. I couldn’t imagine applying contact paper over bumpy cardboard panels without imagining the amount of ugly bumps, creases, tears, and other imperfections resulting from such. Apart from looks, I simply wanted to facilitate the application process. It’s hard enough to apply contact paper over perfectly smooth surfaces… Not to brag but I sincerely wasn’t expecting the box to turn out as nice as it did. Covering the cardboards with presentation paper absolutely helped but I’ve no doubts that the quality of this contact paper made a huge difference as well. It’s just a storage box…moreover, a homemade storage box! So you can imagine that I wasn’t going for “the Architecture Digest looks” right? Not that I feel that’s what I’ve got but I trust you get my point. In case you don’t, my point is this: though only a storage box, since I knew it wasn’t going to be out of sight, I wanted it to look at least somewhat presentable, as in “better than an Amazon shipping box” where we can read things like “Just a box waiting to be opened”cardboard”. LOL 😂 Not surprisingly, this contact paper stuck firmly to the surface of the presentation paper boards. One thing about applying contact paper over other paper surfaces is that, once we apply it, there’s “no turning back”. 😂 Meaning, we can’t peel it off without tearing at least some of it apart. Perhaps it can be done with certain types of paper but not with most. It simply can’t be done without ruining at least a bit of it which translates in ruining the whole thing! Such thing is to be expected though! Applying contact paper to another paper is much like applying tape to paper. The only difference is that contact paper (good quality ones anyway!) is far more adhesive than regular tape. Well, at least, it’s supposed to be! In summary, I didn’t want to put myself through making another box so I knew I’d need to be super careful in order to avoid major mishaps while applying contact paper over presentation paper boards. As I was applying this contact paper, only one (though a rather large one!) air bubble formed. Thankfully it occurred close to paper edge. Though I couldn’t smooth out the air bubble as easily as I’d like, I was indeed able to do it just by applying pressure with the “heel” of my hand (palm). I thought of using a spatula or roller but didn’t want to risk ripping the paper, which I’ve done before when using props to eliminate air bubbles. I didn’t want to see any “overlapping lines” from multiple (overlaying) contact paper cuts so I aimed to apply just one piece of contact paper to cover the entire box outer perimeter (meaning a bit longer than 76 inches!). As far as the box height goes, since I planned on using the brown marble paper as a top border that matches the box lid, I knew that I wouldn’t need to cover the entire “height surface” with this contact paper. I just needed enough to fold inwardly under the bottom panel. It’s a rather large box that measures 25”W x 13”D x 10.5” H so I wasn’t sure if using a single piece of contact paper to cover the outer panels would work well or without any “mishaps”. It didn’t help that I needed such a large box and that this was the first time I ever made a box…lol…but I guess it was indeed a good way to test the quality and workability of this contact paper. As far as the brown marble paper goes, I already knew what to expect from such pretty but rather poor quality cheap contact paper: tough to work with, easily torn and therefore, hard to prevent mishaps, especially during application. It’s so bad that problems started happening as soon as I attempted to extend the roll…but back to THIS ‘SMOOTH BEAUTY’: I tried to make such large box, I knew I’d learn some new stuff. For example: I hate the cutting cardboard part! 😂 Also, I think it would’ve been a lot easier had I applied the contact paper (to the presentation paper boards) PRIOR to covering the box with the presentation paper boards. 🤦♀️ But as I thought about it, I think that would’ve probably not work so well in terms of preserving the contact paper. I mean, having to fold the presentation paper boards then apply it over the already put together box panels without causing creases was difficult enough…perhaps I should’ve done that before I put the box together?? LOL 😂 Anyhow, if I had to do it again, I’d definitely do it differently but truth is, I found no major troubles when applying this contact paper to an already put together homemade cardboard box. As far as the other (brown marble) contact paper goes, whether I applied it to a flat panel or to a “3D” object, it made absolutely no difference. I applied to perfectly smooth flat surfaces and it still formed creases, bubbles, and inadvertently, tears when tried to “smooth out” (fix/eliminate) such flaws. I love the looks but hate the quality. Thankfully, that’s not the case with this contact paper! Even as I applied it “the hard way”, meaning, to an already assembled large cardboard box that I made, I didn’t encounter any major hassles while applying this contact paper to my ‘extra large’ box. Actually, I found it far more difficult to apply contact paper to the inner panels. Except for sturdiness, because I needed this box to store lots of stuff that weighs plenty for a cardboard box, I really didn’t care how the inside part of this box would look like . In fact, I didn’t even use “matching” contact paper to cover the inner panels. I just used contact paper panels that I bought ‘ages ago” at the Dollar store…only to find what I was already expecting to find from a $1 contact paper advertised as something to use on kitchen and bathroom backsplash walls. Meanwhile, it’s perfect for a kid’s “Barbie doll house project”…or for the inside part of my homemade cardboard box…lol. And so that’s where it is now! 😂 Back to this paper: My main concern while applying this contact paper to my cardboard box was how it’d do around corners and if I’d encounter problems when trying to fold it to cover beyond the borderline of the bottom panel. Well, it was no problem at all and as you can see through my pictures, it turned out rather nice. It’s far nicer than all of my previous home decor projects involving contact paper, that’s for sure. And yes, I’ve used contact paper in quite a few of my home decor projects, including to cover up pieces of furniture. Since I had reinforced the bottom panel well and obviously because it’s hidden from view, I didn’t feel necessary to waste contact paper in order to cover the entire bottom panel. Being that it is such a large box and that I didn’t want to cut multiple pieces of contact paper to cover the outer panels, this was definitely by far the longest piece of contact paper I ever had to cut and apply! It’s even longer than the length of the wallpaper panels that we applied over one of our basement walls! Anyhow, cutting required using quite a few “paper weights” in order to keep the roll from well, rolling back while I attempted to cut a 9x78 inches piece. Unfortunately and for reasons that are beyond me, like most contact papers, the backing panel on this contact paper has no continuous cutting guiding lines throughout and no standard measurements, which is truly disappointing. They simply divided sections in “tens” and printed it up to 50, which is truly useless for my personal “cutting needs”! Also, just like other contact papers, simply opening roll (extending the paper) caused underlying air bubbles and creases (wrinkles) between the back liner and the contact paper. Although undesired nuisance - one that makes cutting more difficult than it should be - such thing didn’t damage the contact paper or interfered with application. But again, coupled with the absence of cutting guidelines throughout the backing liner, it certainly made it far more difficult to cut a straight line, especially when going over the large “wrinkle waves”. Since this contact paper edges were to be covered by the other contact paper or hidden (under the bottom panel), I didn’t mind having imperfect “cutting edges”. This contact paper is much thicker (and talk about SMOOTHER!) than what I’m used to when buying contact paper of similar price. The color is exactly as I wanted and expected. It is as advertised here so I give 5 stars for accurate color description and pictures! I deducted one star because, as I mentioned above, the backing panel has no standard measurements and no continuous cutting guidelines throughout and also because wrinkles form as soon as we open/extend the paper roll, both of which make “precision cutting” (with scissors) virtually impossible. I considered drawing my own cutting guidelines. The problem with using pencils, pens, or markers is that contact paper and its back liner aren’t ideal surfaces for such and it doesn’t take much pressure to cause unwanted marks and to pierce the contact paper. I also deducted a star because there aren’t enough roll size combos (width x length) to choose from and to state the obvious, limited options is never a good thing for consumers. Otherwise, I truly loved how this paper looks and feels and that it wasn’t too difficult to apply it without causing mishaps. It’s a very good, thick, super smooth texture and beautiful color contact paper. I plan on buying more of this paper in other colors. Unless you absolutely hate super smooth and thick contact paper, need cutting guidelines all through the backing liner (which is definitely a must for precision cutting!!), and detest or can’t work with large wrinkles, bumps, and bubbles prior to cutting and applying contact paper, I absolutely recommend this! ... show more

I used this paper to “refinish” a dresser I didn’t feel like sanding/painting/etc. The color is beautiful and very saturated, although when you make cuts, you can see the white of the paper, so any piecing together you try, you cannot use any raw edging. It also scratches kind of easily and shows white. The paper is a good thickness, but that also contributes to the weak adhesion-if you go around a corner, it won’t stick as nicely if the paper was a little thinner/more flexible. The adhesion is okay… it sticks on flat surfaces well while also allowing for readjustment if needed. But if you’re using this for anything other than a wall or other entirely flat surface, you will probably need glue. Overall, very happy with the product for this casual project. ... show more

So I bought 2 rolls of this to do a bedroom wall. First roll I put up with no problem! Stuck well, no bubbles… basically everything you could hope for with peel & stick wallpaper. BUT, the next day I went to continue my project with the 2nd roll— I thought it was a little strange that the backing was different than the previous one, but I was determined to get it done so I cut the pieces to size and got to work. I was so focused on the piece I was working on that I didn’t even notice that the colors didn’t match until I stepped back. Same order, two different colors. And the roll I was using stuck worse than the childhood stickers I’ve been hoarding since 1986. Needless to say, the wall looks absolutely ridiculous but it won’t for more than 2 days tops because that 2nd roll is falling off as I type. I’d love a refund on this but I know that isn’t happening because I stupidly used it before noticing the color difference. Just to give a heads up, the one with the blue backing is great. The one with the very generic looking gray backing is the bad batch. Hope this helps someone! ... show more

Got this for my fridge. Looks wise is good. From far away it looks great, up close you can see an embossed texture reminiscent of the seats of an American school bus (maybe a little finer than that). I suspect that if used for a table top, it might collect dirt easily in those little ridges and become dirty like the grout between flooring tiles. Something to consider, especially if getting a lighter color. In terms of application, it overall was easy to apply. It’s peel and stick; the paper on the back that you peel off has a grid pattern on it to make cutting it evenly in the correct size easier. On my fridge specifically, it doesn’t like to stay down where it wraps around the edges — I’m sure partially due to the curve, but also in part due to how smooth the fridge is. If I had sanded it I’m sure it would stick a little better but I didn’t want to ruin the actual fridge. Since the sides that pop up aren’t that visible I can use double sided tape to fix it without ruining the overall look. It does also bubble up a little bit, which I’m told is normal and can be fixed by blowing warm air with a hair dryer and then flattening it out again. Overall, great buy. This items color is MUCH lighter than expected. (I'd purchased the leaf green), I probably would have ordered a darker shade if I had known - I still made it work for my project though. It does have some texture to it and a slight reflective sheen. If you're looking for matte and flat contact paper don't use this. Used this for a cheap and quick bathroom refresh before deciding if I wanted to commit to painting. I love the color, and the paper has a slight wallpaper texture which adds to it. It was easy to apply with a $3 application tool, though the edges don’t stick down exceptionally well. If you were to apply this more permanently, I think applying a bit of glue around the edges would help. Overall, it looks great for a $10 project. I don’t think it will stick for a very long time, but it’s okay for now. ... show more
