  • Definitely not a MICROscope, but is pretty good MACROscope
As a few other people's reviews have mentioned, there's zero chance this thing will give you 1000x magnification, but as long as that's not what you're expecting out of it then it's still a nice, and handy lil' scope! I bought it specifically for checking my houseplants for pests -- it works perfectly for identifying mite species, but just know that you'll never see any sampled cellular structures with this. The built-in light, camera, and the ability to feed the image to a phone or computer are all absolutely indispensable, but I'm finding myself wishing that it came with a stand and adjustable arm, too, so that I didn't have to constantly fight my own arm's mobility... It's pretty tough to keep the the scope's position steady in general, but turning the focus dial, or pushing the camera button without jostling the whole damn thing is totally impossible, meaning there's a lot of trying to focus the image, then realizing you have to re-focus it again for the new position afterward, and so on and so forth... If you've got the robotic precision and arm-stability of a seasoned pro photographer then you'll probably be just fine without, but for the rest of us mere mortals, it may be a good idea to find a separate stand, or maybe just go for a similar device that comes with one, instead! 😅 ... show more

  • Mine works great
I bought this to check/set SRA (VTA) on my phono cartridge, and to inspect the stylus for wear if possible. Getting used to it took me some time. I finally realized that I need to set the magnification on the thumbwheel first, then move the scope in and out for focus. I attached the scope to a locking articulating arm I already own with a zip tie. The arm uses a single knob to set drag of the joints and lock it, and is easy to position, but still requires some careful fiddling to get the scope in position. I found the lighting was very useful, although I did remove the light "concentrator" to allow me to get safely closer to the phono cartridge. Attached you can see an image of the phono stylus I captured at the higher magnification end of the scopes range, an image of the cantilever assy at a lower magnification, and a pic of the scope attached to my arm assy. Dept of field is minimal which isnt surprising at the upper end of the units magnification setting like I used. The zoom control is pretty tight so it really isnt practical to adjust it once you are in "position" to view. The scope will move all around relative to what you are viewing trying to move the zoom, so I started pulling the scope away from what I was viewing, changing the zoom, then sliding it back in place to focus. I found the focal distance at the X1000 end of the zoom to be less than an inch from the peep-hole of the moving outer lens assembly and the distance at the X20 end is around 4". The app for Android works easily and the scope connected and stayed connected via wi-fi without a hitch. Its nice that the app has a snapshot button so I didnt have to disturb the camera to take a pic. I connected it to my desktop using the USB cable and found the Windows 10 "Camera" works well with it. All in all, one of the best $25 I have spent recently. As far as evaluating stylus wear...I dont seem to be able to get close enough to the stylus to see the condition of the business end without losing focus. The 4th pic is an example and maybe the best shot I was able to get, using end/side lighting and viewing the stylus from the bottom to try to see details of the contact lines. I tried side/side lighting in the 5th pic, but I cant tell anything from that. I think I need to be able to get closer while in focus or have more resolution (this was shot using the 1920*1080 camera setting from the Android app) to see the very tip, where any wear or damage would occur. ... show more

  • Cool!
Post-Covid; so annoyed! Developed eczema and eye floaters and flashes. Never had either before. If you want to see something freaky; look at your skin through this thing! It’s an absolute trip! It pairs well; the app works great. Tip: on an Apple phone- if Ive used it and haven’t ‘swiped the app away’; it won’t connect again until you do that… swipe it away; start fresh. I thought it was broken; ordered a new one… sent back the new one- still no refund. Ugh! But it’s a great product! ... show more

  • So glad my friend told me about this.
The only thing difficult for me was holding it steady. But I finally got it. I just wasn’t doing it properly. I love this , there’s no guessing as to harvest time. love those fat trichs I can check without guessing and I know when they’re exactly ready. Thank you I didn’t know they had such a thing until my friend told me about it ... show more

  • Easy setup and works well
This was the solution we finally arrived at for when we need higher magnification to read tiny text in tight places. It has plenty of magnifying power. If you like good fiction, check out my novel “Herman”, by Howard Randolph available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other locations. Written in 2013, Herman reads like a first-hand account of the chaos we’ve seen all around us in the last 3 years. It even includes a solution for our impossible political situation! Thanks, and be safe. ... show more

  • Product works great, app isn’t the best
The product works amazing once it’s up and working. The app and wifi isn’t the easiest to deal with.
