Reviewing High-Accuracy Hot Wire Anemometer – We had a new HVAC installed and it wasn’t cooling like it should be. The HVAC company kept telling us it was cooling fine, but our house wasn’t getting above 78 degrees and it’s not even in the high 80’s outside yet, with it dropping to the high 30’s/low 40’s at night, so we knew better. This anemometer helped us prove they were breeching their warranty terms, and we got a full refund and was able to hire someone else to come in and fix things. It’s intuitive to use, easy to figure out the controls, and it measures quickly, which is important, since you might not always be in a comfortable position to measure your air. It's backlight, so can be used in dark locations and the digits are large, for easy reading. It’s a great anemometer for the price point.

Easiest To Use HVAC Anemometer Ever! There's a lot to like here. 1. This hot wire anemometer is very sensitive, it detects even slight air movement. 2. The detachable probe contains two sensors, one for airflow and one for temperature, making it easy to monitor both an air register's airflow and temperature simultaneously. 3. The probe telescopes and can be extended to over six feet. This makes it easy to reach air registers without resorting to using a ladder. After use, the probe can be fully retracted and it fits in the carrying case along with the instrument itself. 4. The hot-wire probe is small in diameter. This makes it possible to take measurements inside ductwork using only a small access hole as one would use for a manometer. 5. The large display is easy to read, and has a "Hold" function so that readings can be obtained even when one can't see the display. This is very helpful when working in tight spaces such as an attic. 6. The anemometer can be connected via USB to a computer and real-time data downloaded. (I have not used this feature as I have no need for long term recording.) The only downside I've found so far is that the USB charging/data port uses the older Micro USB connector rather than the current standard USB-C type. Adapters are available, and this instrument should come with one. The bottom line is that this product makes HVAC work much easier and saves a good deal of valuable time. As any HVAC Technician knows, time is money.
