Just enough stretch, but not too much. I'd prefer no stretch, but we live in a modern era and stretch is now a requirement (I guess). By the end of the day, they've stretched out a bit too much, too. Not a fan of that. The side pockets and cargo pockets are deep so your phone won't slip out. I'm 5'4" and the pants end just at my ankles, which is perfect. They are comfortable, though, even with the end of the day stretch.
