So I measured my waist and my hips with a tape measure. Waist: 44 Hips: 42. I normally wear Levi's (36x30) at my hips, so I ordered size 42. They arrived in size 42, which was correct. But when I put them on at the hips, they are way too large, like, I can fit a softball between my body and the shorts' waistband. When I pull them up to my waist, they are just a bit loose. SO, my figuring is that they are sized a bit more than 2 inches larger than reality. I'll send them back and get a size 40 to see what happens. I'll review those as well so you can see my results. I'll also not be ordering relaxed fit 11" inseam instead of loose fit 13" inseam. These loose fit 13" inseam feel/look like I'm wearing my mother's culottes, as they end 3 or 4 inches below my knees! Nothing wrong with that--just not my tempo... EDIT: I actually tried different sizes on at a big box store; I found that 38 waist relaxed fit 13" inseam fits best. Just a little bit of extra wiggle room. Again, I measure 42" at my hips, and the size 38 sits on my hips just right. Otherwise, Dickies make fantastic affordable shorts and pants! Tough as nails, and comfortable (once you figure out your size). I'm fairly rough with them; skateboarding serves as my quality test, and Dickies last forever. I'm having to figure out my size because I'm buying my first new ones ever; I've always just bought them at thrift stores before, so I never really knew what I was getting, just looking for the Dickies tag and trying different ones on until I found the ones that fit. ... show more

Perfect I’ve lost a lot of weight but next time I’ll do a 46 waist but I’m sure in a month they’ll fit even better. A really good fit though.

They run tight so go up a size. The clasp is a failure and can come undone while sitting down. Not sure why they can't just stay with a button? The belt loops are big and tight. Can be tough to get a belt through if it's a little wide. Other than that, they look great.

    • BELT LOOPS TOO SMALL FOR 1½ BELT

Fits okay, BAD BELT LOOPS I wanted to buy more of what I had, which was "Dickies Men's Cooling Temp-iq Active Waist Flat Front Shorts", but they aren't selling those anymore I guess. I got these instead. The fit is okay I guess, but the belt loops are just awful. They're tiny. I had to force my 1½ belt through them, pull hard to get the belt through since there is no slack, and there's not enough room in the loop for the tip of the belt when you loop all the way around and fasten it! The belt loops are so tight on a 1½ belt it bends the belt into an arc! And i can't find a 1" belt here so I give up. Just awful. Since I can't get more of what I wanted ("Dickies Men's Cooling Temp-iq Active Waist Flat Front Shorts") i'll buy from somewhere else other than Dickies in the future.
