Where has this tool been all my life?! Our yard consists of six inches of top soil ... atop hard-packed clay and rock. We like to joke that it must have been a parking lot at some point. A shovel is useless, so for planting trees, we use a manual post-hole digger that uses a rotating motion. It takes forever, scraping up a little dirt at a time, but tree holes aren’t big enough for swinging a pickaxe. I’ve also used crowbars and assorted homemade contraptions, and I thought I had tried everything ... until this ingenious, heavy-duty tool showed up. It means business. Not only is it heavy and thick, but I took a photo of the screw threads to show how precisely machined they are. I’m always a little dismissive of “screw together” tools because they eventually come apart, but not this one. Plus it’s great that you can adjust the foot lever to whatever depth you need, and it also comes with an allen wrench and extra bolt. That was my other worry, that the foot lever wouldn’t stay in place, but once you tighten the bolt with the wrench, it doesn’t budge. I still hate our hard-packed soil, but my life is so much better now. If you're in a similar situation, it's worth every cent and more.

This tool makes planting bare root trees and shrubs so much easier. The foot pedal helps you get solid depth without having to dig with a shovel every time, and the T-handle gives great leverage. If you’re planting a bunch of trees, this is the tool you didn’t know you needed!

You guys know the routine - pull out the shovel, try to dig, realize the ground is too hard, flood the ground to soften it, dig a hole 3x as wide as you need it to be in some weird V shape because that's just how this always goes, get your tree in, then make a mess trying to get the muddy soil back into the ground. Royal pain. This thing cut the whole process in more than half, and it was precise enough that I didn't trash my surrounding lawn. I'd pay twice what they're asking for it. Great product

The triangular digging head is a fantastic feature. It easily penetrates even compacted soil, allowing me to create uniform planting holes without excessive effort. Whether I was working in soft garden soil or tougher clay areas, this tool performed exceptionally well. It saves me time compared to using a standard shovel or auger.

I don't know what I was expecting with this, but it's actually really helpful. It has a sturdy grip, is made of a heavy grade metal, and the part that goes in the ground is coated to protect it from the errant rock scrape, rust, etc. It's easy to use. Just place it, stomp on the food pedal, and you have it sunk in the ground. It's light weight, and easy to store. I like this a lot.

Amazingly well-built. All the parts are made of thick gauge metal and it seems like it would last a life-time. I wish it was a bit longer as I'm 6'1 and it would be easier for me to use if it had some more length. Fortunately, I'm just a home gardener so I wouldn't be using it for several hours a day. Very nice product.

Assembly is quick, the threaded steel pipe parts are more than sturdy enough, it works great even in the annoyingly tough clay sand soil my area is known for. Note, the handles have a hard plastic spacer on each end, not the softer squishy pvc pipe caps I put on them that you see in the pictures.
