    • For anyone who finds reg women's knee socks too tight over calves- fr 20 lbs overweight to big.

I ordered the smaller men's size of 10-13 as I wear a women's 8+1/2 or larger shoe + they fit loose and comfortable. this size I believe would be for anyone who finds regular women's or men's knee socks too tight over their calves or legs- from normal weight with more solid or heavier legs, or solid built women a mere 20 lbs overweight and larger. There is a larger size for bigger legs. These are very stretchable because the cotton weave is loose and I believe that they will stretch to fit people comfortably who are bigger- in the 180-250 lb range; Go to next size for heavier than 250- just my estimate as one should allow for some shrinkage with a high cotton content- regardless of smaller feet as you can pull the heel area up beyond a smaller foot as they are loose and should conform- I think one's foot can be smaller as most will buy these for wider leg room (just pull the oversized foot section up). Because these socks are loosely woven, one can wear them around the home without feeling that they are too warm in cool weather. If the tops slip down one's calf on less full legs, or with active walking or running- an appropriately sized [thin for comfort] elastic band at each top will prevent slipping (elastic bands come in various diameters/lengths/thicknesses, not just the traditional ones commonly seen. Plus these socks are 90 percent cotton and soft. I thought they were almost 100 percent cotton until I just looked again- I would prefer more cotton content for summer but these do fit well, have loose weave, certainly are good for winter weather. It's because of the loose weave that they are so stretchable as there is not a spandex content. Do not know how much they shrink but with the high cotton content and vey loose weave, I would expect noticeable shrinkage in hot water and especially with a dryer use so best to use only warm water (not that hot) and line dry naturally or on only warm temperatures not hot as cotton could shrink a great deal. Dryers also deteriorate any elastic present in a clothing item, even fitted sheets + these knee socks probably/may have some elastic woven into the edge at the calf top to help them stay up (most dryers tend to build up heat and become too warm/warmer than desired- another reason to avoid a dryer). There may be other socks with less or no polyester but the polyester likely helps w/wear- my opinion is that all cotton thin weave would be more prone to areas wearing thin. Socks are good in elasticity and the height wise but the only reason that it leaves a lot of lint pieces for a good amount of time. No matter washing for the first 10-15 times those lints look like dirt between your toes that embarrasses you when you take them of at your Doctor's office or even at home by your partner... ... show more

One of my legs had started swelling due to eczema. It was swelling quite a bit and I was worried. It was not swollen when I am laying down in bed. But as I sat with my legs hanging or walked around all day, the leg really swelled up significantly. The black socks lose a lot of color in washing and destroyed a whole lot of other clothes including the white and grey socks. Also, these socks generate a lot of lint so they cannot be dried in dryer. There are several lose threads. Light weight, not very warm. They are not going to be very durable. I requested money refunded from AMAZON because they have been already worn and washed. But AMAZON did not bother to respond to my request. ... show more
