not really a soft shell jacket. but it is soft and comfortable. does have better heat system than the Milwaukee, but the Milwaukee is an actual soft shell fabric. fit was fine but not what i was looking for. returned it.

Overall: I really like this jacket, and fully recommend it for working and playing outdoors during the winter months. Also great for power outages too! Likes: 1. It’s a Dewalt! 2. Price—I loved the out-of-season markdown 3. Upgraded version with heated arm pads 4. Three heat levels—high, medium and low with default setting at medium heat 5. Deep pockets, including one in the back (for the battery pack, etc.) 6. 20V Max Li battery 7. USB charging port (for phone, etc.) Dislikes: 1. The lower internal pocket for the battery pack sags from the weight. I believe this can be improved with a more robust material with straps to secure the pack. 2. No dust/water protective caps to protect the ends of the power/charging cables when being washed. Would love to see some improvements here as well.

I use this for outdoor yard work and has 3 heat levels indicated by the color of the on/off button: high (red), medium (white), and low (blue). It comes with its own battery and battery charger and it worked perfectly with all my other Dewalt 20V batteries from other Dewalt tools. The only trick I discovered is that you have to hold down the 'On' button for about 5 seconds to turn it on the first time. Once it is 'On' then every click of the button lowers the heat level one step. You can really feel the heat on the back, front chest and the arms and it feels awesome on winter mornings during outdoor yard work on in the evenings watching the sunset after a day using Dewalt leaf blower, lawn mower (which uses 2 batteries), edge trimmer, electric drills, circular saw or hedge trimmer. Yes, I guess you could saw I am 'all in' on the Dewalt battery platform. One other cool thing about the jacket is that it comes with a connector for the battery that includes a USB charger for your phone. If the battery ever runs out, I can swap it in a few seconds with any other of my Dewalt 20V battery collection, and it has a couple of zipper pockets to hold my phone or another backup battery.

Bought this for my boyfriend who works in construction. It came a day early and fits him very well.. he loves there are different settings and that he can put the battery in basically any pocket with the extension cord. He was happy how warm it got and it heated up fairly quickly. Only complaint he's had was it didn't have a hood other then that he absolutely loves it.

No matter what heated jacket you get, the battery will be cumbersome in one way or another. With that said, this jacket delivers everything I need for a professional experience as an HVAC service technician. I love in Michigan and typically, during winter, every house I walk in is cold, as I am there to fix their furnace. I haven’t had to experience too much rain while wearing the jacket so I can’t attest to how waterproof it is. The heating elements are placed in very good spots, this jacket even features heating in the upper arp near your triceps (which my jacket two years ago did not) Also, last but not least, the style of the jacket, I believe no hood gives more of a professional appearance. The all black soft shell is a very sleek design and isn’t very “showy”. It gives off the impression that “I’m here to work, not to be pretty.”

Brand new coat, it automatically turns itself off after about three minutes. Exchanged through Amazon and the replacement behaves exactly the same way. I have tested this out with both of the locations where it can be connected. I have tested this with multiple batteries. I have tested this both wearing it and not wearing it (to ensure that it's not my movement causing a connection issue). The places where there are connections seem solid enough... very tight, so it's not a connection issue. This is not a user error of any kind. There are so few ways that a user can choose how to interact with the jacket, so with the various ways that I've checked this out, I've confirmed it's not me. Calling Dewalt customer support will send you off to another company. Waiting on them to call me back, but just beware if you're looking at this. I won't try a third of this particular model. I might try another Dewalt since I already have several batteries.
