Needed something like this to cut for recessed handles in a new pocket door slab. While I have another tabletop router, this job required something smaller, more nimble, more precise. Bam - Success! I have a good collection of DeWalt 20v tools already and a batch or batteries and chargers, too, making this a super economical addition. It spins up quickly and the brake winds it down quickly, too. The depth adjustments, rough and fine, work smoothly and precisely. It's comfortable to hold, pretty quiet, and the acrylic base is half round with a flat edge, allowing for easy manual plunges. Small, powerful and easy to handle. Also is quick to set up. If you have any other DeWalt battery tools, save money and use one of those extra batteries to power this tool. Don't use it daily, but my first choice when I need to grab a router.

I have been using a Ryobi trim router for years, it works just fine. My hands are large and the wedge design encourages my hand to start out low and move lower as I use the router. I don't like that. Over the last two years I have been switching over to the Dewalt XR cordless tools starting with the most used ones first. This router has been on my list from the beginning, and I finally got it. This is a brand-new tool, packed in the sealed OEM box, then packed in an Amazon box. The router arrived unscathed. I like everything about this router better than the old one. The cylindrical design feels smaller and more compact in my hand and it does not encourage my grip to drift down when I use it. I did not anticipate the bit depth adjustment to be so much smoother and precise, it is much easier to set just right. Rotation stops immediately when it is turned off. The router itself runs fairly quiet compared to a larger corded router. Still need hearing protection when making cuts though. Not sure why a trim router has speed control other than to match the competitors check list. This is not the machine to use a large diameter bit with. This is an excellent tool, if you are in the Dewalt battery ecosystem this is a worthy addition to your tool collection. ... show more

This is my second router as I already had a large corded unit. While that worked fine for most things, there were times its size got in the way. I ordered the Dewalt cordless trim router, as it uses the same batteries as my other Dewalt tools, since I wanted a more hand-held unit for finer detail routing jobs. I must say for a lot of trimming type of work and smaller cutout work, this is now my go-to router. The cordless feature is also great, as I don't know how many times I would need to move the power cord out of the way on my older router. Plus being able to operate it with one hand allows you to use it in positions the larger corded type would be very awkward and probably dangerous to use. ... show more

If you'd seen the horrid thing I had been using then you'd understand why I've been fawning over this thing all day. It's sooooo much better in every way. Changing the bit is easier, and adjusting the height is WAY easier. It's quieter. I've been doing so much laminate and I'm sooo mad I didn't get this sooner. If I had I might still have the entire bottom half of my thumbnail. I'll spare you the details. Bottom line, love the router....ALOT. ... show more
