Description

This 20V MAX XR ¼ in. 3-Speed Impact Driver is lightweight yet powerful with a brushless motor that delivers 1,825 in-lbs. of max torque to drive large diameter screws. The 3-speed switch allows for increased user control and precision for various applications to help maximize versatility on the jobsite. Maintain productivity in low-light spots with a 3-LED on-board work light that helps to illuminate dimly lit workspaces. This replaces my 18 volt that has performed flawlessly for over 8 years, and I expect to get that many or more years out of this one. This one is more compact, has better lighting, has three impact settings and is lighter weight than the 18 volt. The 18 volt is still going strong, my daughter borrowed it for some home repairs and it was easier to let her keep it and buy myself the newer one. This is a short review on one of the Dewalt impacts that I purchased. Impact overall is well built with a few features that are new to me. This is the first and only battery impact driver own. I have however recently used a Milwaukee, ryobi, and craftsman impact recently. The Dewalt and Milwaukee both were superior in performance followed by the ryobi. One feature i have seen on drills but not impacts is the ability to limit the torque delivered with a clutch. This impact allows you to select the 1,2,or 3 which allows you more control and lessens torque and the chance of striping screws and such. Battery life to me is average and nothing to brag about. Definitely a solid performing tool and I would repurchase with out blinking an eye if and when the time comes I need a new impact. ... show more

well first off i bought this to replace my 12v black and decker matrix because the battery life on those is absolutly pathetic. This thing is a beast, its compact, light weight, and the power it has is very very impressive. The only reason i rated it 4 stars is because i feel like 2nd gear could be more evenly split between 1st and 3rd. But in 3rd gear this thing broke my 3/8 square adaptor from ace. I upgraded to the dewalt 3/8 square adaptor and it seems to hold up alot better. Edit: well ive had this gun for a while now, still performing flawlessly. Im not sure why but it seems to have a problem with the 3/8 square adaptor. Ive broke 4 of them so far, ive tried ace brand x2, dewalt, and some amazon 99 cent special adaptor. I have no clue why but i have yet to break a 1/2 or 1/4 adaptor with it. None the less i wouldnt let that stop you from buying it because its a very handy tool. It goes to work with me every day, gets used ever day, and i have yet to find anything i dont love about it. It does have the power to break lug nuts loose, ive torqued them to 140ft lb and thats about its limit which is right on spec with the discription. I have since found that the performax brand 3/8 adaptors are pretty good. They still break but they are only 99cents so i usually grab about 5 at a time and keep them in my toolbox at work and i have yet to break one in the 2 weeks ive been using it. Update: It died this past week, not sure what the problem is but it just doesn't work. Its 4+ years old and WELL used though so ill order another. ... show more
