In 1990 Ed opened a small aftermarket parts shop near the Rouge Plant in Dearborn MI. Had to cut the holes bigger on the rear struts in order to get them to fit. They are not in spec with a 2004 Toyota Highlander! Good quality shocks though. I've put around 2,000 miles on them and they perform excellent. Definitely worth saving the money and getting these.

I received exactly what was advertised. The parts seemed to be well made. Fit in finish could have been better, things like paint. But at this price point I was not buying for looks. They have been installed for about a month with no issues to report. I will update in about a year from now, as only time will tell about true quality. Detriot Axel has been in for 35 years, starting in 1990. How ever the BBB claims that they have been in buisness for 19 years and gives them an F. They BBB claims that there has been 200 complaints filed against Detriot Axel; 108 of them they had failed to respond; and 13 left unresolved. As the BBB can't seem to get their facts straight, I wouldn't put much stock in their rating of this buisness. Seems like 79 of these 200 conplaints were real issues, and after doing some digging I found that Detriot Axel not only resolved the issue but also gave generous discounts as an apology. Personally I was impressed with how fast they processed the order and had it shipped. I hope to see this company come up to a better buisness rating as they are an American company. Most of their parts are made here in America. Some parts are sourced from other countries, but are assembled here. It feels good to know that my family is riding on American made parts crafted and assembled by American hands. ... show more

Their product is no good. I purchased tis product and had it replaced on my auto by my mechanic. Only to find out that the right front Strut passenger side was defective and needed.. to be replaced I contacted them and the sent a new Strut I had to pay shipping. Had my mechanic replace it, only to find this one was also defective. I'm already into this job for a total of $613. I will no longer purchase any more products from your Co. I will let my friends know what i went through and still not working. ... show more

I bought this set mostly for the shocks / struts / springs. Fit is exact as you would expect and including new hardware is appreciated. Getting all four corners with springs pre-installed for the price of two bare shocks is a pretty amazing value. Throwing in the end-links as well is what pushed me over the edge in picking this specific item. The links are okay. They're fine a few days after install, but I'm cautious about long-term performance. Be aware that they are not sealed and will require grease (and probably a grease gun) to use them properly. This is not apparent in the product photo and not noted in the description. The grease zerks on mine were a little loose and I had difficulty tightening a couple of them down enough so that I couldn't unscrew them with my fingers. Also be aware that the new fasteners on the links are different than the stock ones you'll be taking off. Stock flange nuts have a 17mm head, but the ones included with this kit are 18mm. You'll need a box or open end wrench for the bottom (top can fit a socket) since there's not enough clearance for a socket wrench. Check your wrenches before you start working, because 18mm is sometimes excluded from a lot of metric wrench sets! You'll also probably want a set of locking thin-nosed pliers to hold the other side of the end link bolts while tightening the nut, otherwise it will just spin in place. Each shock / strut comes individually packed in its own box. Each front/rear pair is then packed in a plain cardboard box for shipping. I thought that the end links were missing from my order, but they are packed inside one of the four boxes, so make sure to check all of them before worrying. ... show more

I have an 07 MDX that my daughter was using as her daily driver. She complained that it wasn't riding very well. I took it for a drive and, oh my, it was terrible. It handled poorly and clunked and bounced over every little bump. I immediately hopped on Amazon looking for front and rear shocks and struts. I have always had good luck with Detroit Axle parts, so I ordered this kit with confidence. The parts that arrived were all the perfect fit and the installation was straightforward. I took it to the shop for an alignment when I was finished (recommended after changing the outer tie rod ends), and voila, it was driving like a dream once again. Detroit Axle for the win again! *It may sound like it, but I am was not paid for this review. When you can't go OEM, Detroit Axle is the best! ... show more

    • High Quality And Excellent Fitment At A Reasonable Price

My 1998 Camry XLE with the V6 engine has around 180,000 miles on the odometer and the struts were the originals. The ride was getting pretty mushy especially over bumps. I started looking around for replacements of equivalent quality and ride to the OEMs and came upon this Detroit Axle replacement set. What I like about them is that they are complete, 4-wheel fully loaded struts that did not require the disassembly and the reuse of old parts from the originals. This has two advantages: All the components are new and the installation time is cut to almost half. They even come with new sway bar links which most other struts do not include. The ride feels almost identical to when my Camry was new. Not too soft and not too stiff. The ride height is maybe half an inch higher than the old ones but I think they will settle down after a short while at which time I will take the car in for a wheel alignment. I also think that the old struts had sagged over their 22 year life explaining much of the difference in ride height. The price for the complete set is very reasonable and Detroit Axle provides a 10 year warranty on their web site. I did not install this set myself but had my very trusted mechanic do it for me. He commented that they were good quality compared to most low cost struts that he has seen. I watched him install them and they went in trouble-free. I highly recommend this strut set to anyone looking for good value and easy installation. ... show more
