38-39 fits pretty much okay for a size 7 1/2 - 8 shoe size. If you're a "tight" 8, I suggest considering a 40-41. I absolutely love these! I have purchased 7 different pairs for myself...one to wear in the shower and 6 to wear as slippers...or even just to wear anywhere that doesn't include gravel or rough terrain. I have also purchased 8 pair and given them as gifts to my sisters, my daughters and grandchildren. 1 note: if you don't use them for water wear the light insoles tend to slide up and out. The fit is snug. But for water usage you don’t want them floppy. Good value for my money. Was not too expensive and you get what you expect. They are wonderful breathing material. I wear them outside in the street and they hold up well. Only down fall the material on the back heal is a little thinned out from walking.
