The lights on the DEERC D50 will immediately catch your eye, and the tenacity of this rugged little quad will also capture your heart. Her large rectangle LED headlight shines a spotlight on flying fun and your enthusiasm won't be dimed by this user friendly aircraft. This flying machine will forgive your dumb rookie mistakes. Crash it against a pole, land it in the mud, clip a tree branch, or T bone a car, no matter, this bird will keep soaring. You will be blinded by the light of her talents. The drone arrived in prompt fashion from Amazon in a nice looking canvas carrying case. Foam fitting holes ensured that you can carry the D50 along on all your adventures. Two batteries, which lasted about 10 minutes each, as well as two USB charging cables were appreciated. The instruction manual was old school hard copy, not just on line. The manual was understandable and helpful, but it did need more information concerning how to use the features only found on the phone app and what the symbols on the controller display screen meant. The controller is clean and functional. The clever handlebar is a wise addition that you will welcome when juggling your cell phone, controller, drone, landing pad, and personal items. It shows that a lot of thought was given to design. Placing some buttons on the back of the controller removed clutter and the display window conveys vital information in a readable size font. The phone holder evidenced more thoughtful design, as it allowed a phone to be adjusted to various angles. The drone looks sleek, which appropriately reflects its 4 speed capabilities. The high setting felt like you were approaching the speed of light. A basic on/off switch is a simple, but useful, refinement. The camera makes good photos and videos. Lacking an SD card proved no problem, as your photos immediately appear on your phone as well as on the app. The app was easy to download and use. Hoverver, my phone would not activate several functions, including voice commands, altitude hold, mode, one key takeoff/land, and emergency stop.. This was disappointing, as some of these features can only be used on the app. The drone flies smoothly and quietly, but it is impacted by the wind. There is no image stabilization tool. It hovers fairly well for a non-gps drone.The one key take-off/land should be a popular feature with beginners and pros alike. While the many bells and whistles of the aircraft are fun, the D50 most valued feature is Holy Stone and DEERC's customer service. Sadly, having experienced first hand the poor, if not nonexistence buyer assistance of other companies,, dealing with Holy Stone and DEERC is a joy. They truly strive to ensure the customer is satisfied. Their response time is always fast and their final solution is almost always in the customer's favor. Take it from one who has been beaten and battered by those companies promoted by questionable experts on You Tube. Fly by the frustration, fury, and fatigue, and deal exclusively with Amazon, Holy Stone, and DEERC. They will treat you more than fairly. With its many features, durability, dependability, thoughtful design, customer support, and all important entertainment value, this little quadcopter is deserving of 5 stars. Being my first low-cost, entry level drone I was surprised by all the quality immediately apparent from the opening of the package to the first flight of this affordable, quality, durable and flyable drone. If you are a beginner looking for a good drone to learn with and at the same time be rewarded with quality 2K UHD camera capabilities this may just be what you have been looking for! Any time I am looking at drones and see a price point below $100 I think ‘toy’ in a cardboard box and not much in the way of extras. The DeeRC D50 breaks all the rules with a great product in an awesome carrying case and lots of extras. The extended landing gear makes for better clearance for the rotors and even allows operation in grass. The snap-on rotor guards are great for protection when encountering inadvertent light posts and other obstructions! A spare battery adds flight time and a spare set of rotor blade/props when that landing goes all wrong! Battery power resulted in an average of 10-11 minutes of flight time. Two are provided along with the USB charger. Flying the D50 was a delight. It does not have the GPS capabilities of higher priced drones but is still very stable and easy to fly. Making small ‘trim’ adjustments was easy with the trim button on the underside of the controller. The controller is larger than most other drones giving it a great feel for the experienced flyers who are familiar with similar systems. After getting familiar with the flight characteristics and gaining some confidence there are some very advanced options that you can begin discovering. Like performing 360-degree flips! There is ‘Headless Mode’, Gravity Mode, One Key Button, Tap Fly Mode, advanced speeds for the speed demon and Gesture Mode. Instructions for these and more are in the user’s manual. Also, many online videos are available for even further instructions for learning your new drone. Finally, I need to compliment the DeeRC and Holy Stone support services. Minor questions on the D50 and more so on one of the more advanced drones lead me to request support. I did not have to wait very long for a contact and over the next couple of days had received direction from at least 3 different support persons and was even contacted later to verify that I had everything I needed! Never have I been so impressed with a support group as I am with them. I will definitely shop for these products first before considering any other just based on the fact that I know they have my back! 5/5 stars across the board!! The DeeRC D50 drone is highly recommended because of its flight performance and additional features it has to offer.     • Drone has it’s own mind, you can’t control it
Edited 8/4/23: Good customer service. The seller contacted me about my bad experience and sent another replacement. They care about customers' experience and wanted me to do more tests. For that customer, I would change from 1 star to 3 star. I do not have chance to test the drone yet due to high wind lately. I also want to test in the area that has no Starlink around (we guess that could be the reason drone took off but not 100% sure). Will update again later after I know the drone won't take off on it's own again. I got one flew couple of time and suddenly took off on it’s own and gone! It went to the other side of river and no way we can get it back. I got a replacement. Then, the second one did the same thing. We were at the campground and did couple of flights took some photos. Then, suddenly it took off on it’s own AGAIN! This thing has it’s own mind and you can’t control it. I’m done! No more wasting money. ... show more
