  • Recommend if hike or like light durable over ankles
Size: 9 Color: Brown/Red
Great hiking boots/shoes. Got the rough/red. Hiked many miles in. Most surprising part was when put on compared to if you wear boots or some other shoes they feel like feathers so light. But very durable. Keep water out well unless totally submerging. I do hate speed laces though on boots but has a hole can run laces though even at the top instead of speed laces hook. Probably that wears out the laces faster but to me is worth as doesn’t constantly come un hooked. I think if did away the speed laces and put rings all the way up would be better. Bc you can put on just by loosening. The money is a lot but they have lasted me many years and unlike other ‘hiking’/boots with waterproof parts have not torn. Sole not loosened. The rough out one hides any scratches well. Only some rubs or stains can. Which is well acceptable for used hiking boots. ... show more

  • Fantastic boots. Worth every penny.
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Obsidian/Kangaroo - New
Great! Comfortable. Wore for the first time on an 11 mile hike. No complaints. They breathe well, lots of support without feeling overly tight. They are put together much better than a lot of other boots, they look like they will last longer. They may cost a little bit more, but the quality and comfortably are worth it. Reconstructable, no more buying a new pair of boots every year. ... show more

  • Killer Boots
Size: 12 Color: Olive/Timberwolf
These are killer boots. I’ve never owned Danners but I’m a big fan of Danner now, I’ll tell you that much. They fit true to size and they feel like they were designed around my actual foot. They fit that well. They wear nice around the house, around town, and on the hiking trails. I really don’t like taking them off sometimes because they look as good as they wear. They’re very lightweight for their functionality too. I wasn’t expecting that. They are well worth the money. Don’t be a moron and buy cheap boots, buy good boots and they’ll wear twice as long and you’ll be twice as happy. And you’ll look like you actually know what you’re doing when you get dressed in the morning. They’re a little on the spendy side but they’re made in America for crying out loud and they’re high quality so get off the fence and buy some if you’re in the market for hiking boots. You’ll thank me later. I’m out. ... show more

  • Great Boot, but NOT a backpacking boot.
Size: 9 Color: Brown/Red
I typically wear a 9.5 US sizing. I read where others suggested ordering down 1 full size. Half sizes were not available, so I ordered a 9 US. They fit great out of the box with the arch support in perfect position. Use different lacing patterns to relieve any top pressure and to lock down your heel, especially when doing extended down hill sections---proper technique for ALL boots. These are not supportive enough for off trail ankle-eating terrain, nor if you have to do a great deal of hiking on boulder/rock fields...the lack of a shank in the sole will eventually make the balls of your feet ache from the pounding...especially if you are trying to haul any load above 25lbs for long hikes. That said, the boots are exceptionally comfortable in a variety of conditions with the exceptions of extreme heat or extreme cold. "WaterProof" boots are a mixed bag. They work great for walking long periods in wet grass or shallow water or light muck. But if you get them soaked on the inside on a stream crossing or your feet really sweat a lot, be prepared to have your boots STAY wet. WaterProof (Gore-Tex, etc.) never breathes as much as it blocks moisture...so that 'benefit' works both ways. Great day hike and light scramble boot with more protection than low models. Great for wearing about town. I wear them all day when on my feet and riding my bike to and from work...comfortable all day. ... show more

  • Great shoes.
Size: 12 Wide Color: Rich Brown
Well made, my second pair. Good toe room, good traction, comfortable. Do not require breaking in. Experience gained from my first pair says these boots are not for off trail mountain hiking, despite the name, too flexible and tread not deep enough in rough rocky terrain, but on established smoother trails they work fine. And they are great for every day wear all day. The Vibram soles wear very well. On soft trails they are excellent. I like this model so well that I recently self repaired my 5yr old pair, shows in first photo, I am not a shoe repairman, just wanted more use from a great shoe. Second photo shows soles old vs new, not bad for 5 years and hikes experienced. Some hikes were very rough and rocky off trail mountain hikes, so very pleased with the durability. I now have inserts that corrected my heel wear pattern, I no longer abrade the heels unevenly. ... show more

  • Broke in out of the box
Size: 11 Color: Rich Brown
I purchased these boots for a security job I had coming up. After receiving the boots I noticed that they felt broke in from the get go, after arriving to the location, it was much hotter than we anticipated , 106° + most days , these boots were on my feet a minimum of 19 hours a day , never had a single hit spot , feet felt great and were protected. 10 out of 10 would recommend. ... show more

  • Love for these just keeps growing!
Size: 9 Wide Color: Rich Brown
Just used briefly but enjoy the feel so far. Quality seems great, and the Amazon warehouse deal made it an exceptional value. The one thing i could live without is those last 3 or four missing eyelets(can’t remember what it’s called). On other boots I’ve owned, i hate them because boot laces seem to loosen and unlatch when walking, so not a fan of them, however don’t know if these will be like that. Leather seems good, the flute like where welt meets sole seems a bit, well, not sealed? But i don’t know if that matters. Don’t usually plunge my boots into water but do walk in rain. For the price and for the light service they will see,i can’t imagine it will matter. Love the retro sort of style.update* Has then on for a full day this week walking about, just roadways, too much snow for off road. Haven’t worn anything more comfy. EVER. These will be my go to for this year (except for more than casual dress). Don’t care if it’sa hiking boot I’m wearing them everywhere. I got the 2 ee size and did not upsize the length at all, and with normal stocks the fit is perfect. I used Obenaufs oil on the boots which darkened them a bit, but still a very pleasing colour to me, and it made the leather feel different, better, right away. Only thing was i used said product on some black boots i had first, and some black dye transferred from the bottle/applicator to my new boots. Fortunately most of the black smudge was to high on the boot, ,a mistake i won’t make again! ... show more

  • The Best Hiking Boots I Have Ever Had
Size: 10.5 Color: Rich Brown
This boot, Danner's Mountain 600, is hands down the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever had the pleasure to wear--and this right out of the box. No break in! This is the hallmark of a good boot. If it doesn't feel right right away it's going to be wrong all the time in my experience. I'm 70 and I bought these boots to replace my almost 20-year-old boots that have about 25,000 miles on them (not exaggerating). I lost track of how many times they were resoled. They are Havana Joe's Chukka boots, which I wore with an insert. Talk about a tough boot! So those are going in the trunk of my car for emergency wear. And these great Danner's boots are now my every day hiking boot. I just returned from an after-dinner one-hour fast hike in the dusk in the hills around my home. I can't say enough about the comfort level--buy these boots and you won't be sorry. The grip is great, the ankle support is just right without overdoing it. I should mention that I do have a hard to fit foot. My ankle is narrow and doesn't like slipping around (whose do?), I also have a high arch and am often troubled by shoes that hurt the top of my foot. My toe span is wider in relation to my ankle and those toes like a good deal of room. So Danner's boots addressed all these issues for me beautifully. A true 10 1/2 D is my fit, though my right foot would probably like a 10 3/4 D!! But the toe box is generous and my right foot was just as happy as my left foot. I was a bit hesitant about buying a hiking boot without trying it on but I was fortunate that Danner's sizes their boots just right--so 10 1/2 D it is. I hope this recommendation helps out any of you who read this. Happy hiking! ... show more
