  • Tempe-r your expectations (see what i did thar? ;))
Size: 9 Color: Black
I have always had disagreement when people say cowboy boots "fit as expected", because based off the size of all my other shoes, foot tracings sent to custom boot makers, and brannock devices, I fit at least half size down from anything anyone has ever recommended to me and fits on my foot. From my largest shoe I wear, (addidas glide running shoes in a 10.5D) these are a full 1.5 sizes down, and they fit PERFECT. Having said that, know your foot and the brand of boot you're buying. I know I fit 9D in dan posts and these fit "AS EXPECTED" for DAN Post in 9D. Having said that, quality wise, I am mixed. My other favorite pair of cowboy boots are made by charlie horse made in brazil, now about 10 years old. It is completely obvious when comparing the fit and finish and quality of the leather these are not equals. The stitching on the boot pulls for example, as can easily be seen in the photos on amazon, is off center. Futhermore, the leather isnt stitched together on the backside of the pulls and my fingers get hung up in there and some care should be taken not to pull stitching out back there. The interior of the boot is similar. Where the vamp meets the shaft of the Dan Post, there are 2 seams with rought edges and a central split\relief cut in the leather whereas the charliehorse is all smooth butted interior seams and the relief is properly done. The lining itself on the inside feels a bit rougher to me, but with some bick4 should condition out. Last but not least, again as can be seen in the amazon product photos, the welt stitching and sole trimming are done a bit poorly with the trim\stitch not being totally parallel at times and certainly not having an even spacing. Even still, these boots fit me very nicely, but for the price, I was expecting better quality. I wish I could find my old charlie horses in black as I'd have just bought those again. But the ostrich is nice and i know I'll get lots of compliments. ... show more

  • I love these boots.
Size: 10 Color: Black
Someone posted that the leather was too thin. Someone else, that it may not last as long as the harder leather. I'd say that there is no break in period, the leather is smooth and fits like a glove, and TG for that. Time will tell if the leather doesn't last, which I doubt will be the case. This is the real thing, ostrich, and feels like shark skin, thin but strong. I have owned one set of elephant leather boots, one set of shark skin boots, and this my first pair of ostrich boots, which so far I love. The last pair of boots I owned were leather ostrich stamped, not to be confused with the real thing. They were size 9.5. They look almost like this pair, and were nicely worn, and comfortable, until for some reason they started hurting my feet, as if I had grown. I had to give them away. Well, I'm not very hard on shoes, as I don't walk that much anymore, and these are no work boots. If I wanted work boots, I would purchase steel toes. These are simply elegant boots that can be worn with jeans as well as with slacks, or a suit, which I have done and received several compliments already. The wonderful smell of leather takes a while to dissipate. I maybe old fashion, but I simply loooove that smell. Did I say these are comfortable? Right off the bat, first day, I walked about three miles on them as I covered a new territory that day (something very unusual for me, but walking is good for my health) and they didn't bother my feet. At 60+, this is great. ... show more

  • Dan Post boots are AWESOME!
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Brown
I LOVE Dan post boots. I own 14 pairs of boots, and 12 of them are Dan Post boots, and the other 2 pairs are Lucchese. The Dan Post boots are a perfect fit in length and width. When ordering the Lucchese boots, keep in mind that it is necessary to order at least the next half size up, so if you wear an 11 EW in a Dan Post, you need to order size 11-1/2 EE in Lucchese in order to get the same fit. The Dan Post exotic boots are more comfortable than Lucchese boots. Now how’s that for a testimonial that I didn’t even get paid for. Dan Post is the best fit and best boot for the money. Size: 10.5 Color: Brown
My hubby is 10 1/2 so that is the size I got. We had to put insoles in, because they were a bit wide. But a stunning boot!

  • Comfortable and looks great
Size: 10.5 X-Wide Color: Brown
Bought these as I haven't had boots in a long time. Needed them also for a wedding where this was part of the attire. They are comfortable right out of the box, they look great and I had lots of compliments. Plus the price on amazon was much, much better than my local stores.

  • Comparison with Lucchese
Size: 9.5 Color: Black
These are really nice boots, I'm very happy with them. They're a lot lighter weight than I was expecting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing after a long day. For the price they're absolutely amazing and an unbeatable value. Compared to my Lucchese 1883's (that cost twice as much) these fit slightly larger, I can wear thick socks with these boots versus only thin comfortably with the Luccheses's in a 9.5D. The toe box area is also significantly wider which makes them very comfortable right out of the box. They feel as good/better than the 3 year old broken in Lucchese's. As far as the sole goes, the 1883's are more comfortable with more padding, the leather is about twice the thickness on the uppers of the 1883's. The ostrich leather itself is very nice, I looked them over and didn't notice any defects, it's 2 solid pieces per boot, the seam is right at the heel as you can see in the pictures, no cheap piecing together. I've only worn them around the house so far to make sure they fit right, I'll try and remember to come back and rate the durability after a year of wear. So far I'm very impressed, would definitely recommend to a friend. ... show more
