Description

The Dake B-10 model manual utility hydraulic bench press uses a single-speed hydraulic handpump to lower the ram with up to 10 tons of force to facilitate pressing and forming. The channel iron H-frame accepts large and bulky items, and the hoist adjusts the table height for proper positioning. The workhead is movable to adjustment for off-center pressing. The hydraulic cylinder and pump handle can be positioned on either side of the press to maximize workspace and comfort. The release valve turns to release the hydraulic pressure, initiating ram return after downstroke. Closing the valve at any point during the ram return will halt the ram.Two interchangeable ram noses are included: a flat nose piece for use in standard pressing operations and a step-reduced nose piece for supporting, positioning, or fitting into pieces when pressing. The two table plates provide support during pressing. The press has a gauge with a 2-1/2"-dia. display for pressure readings. The base has four 7/16"-dia. holes for bench mounting. Mounting hardware is not included. Hydraulic oil is not included. Press requires some assembly.SpecificationsLoad capacity10 tonsMax. working height16 inchesMin. working height4 inchesRam travel6 inchesTable dimensions16-3/4 x 3 inches (W x L)Press overall dimensions36 x 23 x 18 inches (H x W x L)Weight132 lb. • Although I could not find anything better for the price, it's not quite a 5-star product.
I've owned this press for 5 months and have used it on several projects. Reading many 5-star reviews prior to buying set my expectations a bit too high. Although I could not find anything better for the price, it's not quite a 5-star product. I originally looked at a 20-ton unit from the Horrible company that imports Freight, but could not bring myself to buy it even at half the price of this Dake. Firstly, a note about the dimensions which are listed as: 23" Width x 18" Length x 36" Height. Those dimensions are overall, which is good to know if you have space constraints. But they are also confusing and misleading. I think the length and width dimensions should be interchanged. Somewhere it should be prominently stated that it measures less than 17" between the upright rails. A few observations about differences between the Amazon photo and the press I received: My pressure gauge seems to be a bit nicer than the one shown in the photo. It reads in tons (0 - 16) and kg/cm^2 (0 - 1000). The Dake nameplate, which appears to be aluminum in the photo is actually a cheap sticker. Bolts are plated (metric grade 8.8) instead of black. I added flat washers under all the bolt heads to keep them from gouging the powder-coat paint. The product description says hydraulic oil is not included, but my system came filled. The instruction manual (which may be downloaded from the Dake website) is written clearly. After assembly, I tested the press at 1/3 capacity for several hours; then at 2/3 capacity; and finally at full capacity. No leaks! It does take quite a lot of force on the pump handle to get to the rated capacity (my back-of-the-envelope calculation says ~100 pounds, but it feels like much more than that). The pressure release knob has a nice feel, and I stopped at every ton mark while letting the pressure down to measure bed deflection. Having a pressure gauge was one of my requirements as they are not always easy to retrofit. There is quite a bit of deflection in the bed (which is my biggest complaint). A center gusset would have been a nice addition. The two included table plates are a bit thin and deformable at maximum tonnage. There are check valves built into the ram and pump hose so they can be disassembled without leaking or admitting air. I really like that the hydraulic system uses a standard quick-disconnect fitting. I made an in-situ bearing puller using the Dake pump and a Greenlee hole-punch ram. I greatly appreciate that the ram has an internal return spring. The thought of having a Chinese-made external spring that close to my face makes me uneasy. In addition to the press itself, I received a bag of hydraulic seals and O-rings. A nice addition, but I hope it is not an indication they will soon be needed. Although the benchtop unit is probably adequate for my needs, I considered just making longer rails if I ever needed the capacity of the Dake F-10 press. But the channel is a metric size (80mm) and not readily available where I live. Friends suggested that I simply build my own press. Perhaps I should have, but that obviously takes time away from other projects. ... show more

  • Great Economical Press
I have wanted a press for a long time. I spent months scouring CL and the like looking for a good pre-owned unit. I only found two types, way overpriced pre-owned stuff that people were not reasonable about, or total junk that people were asking 90% of new. I looked into this model Dake and read all sorts or reviews, I decided to go for it (my Fathers Day gift). Initial impressions are good, material quality is good, all parts were well made and the finish was very good. Fit-up of all parts was spot on, not a crooked piece, all holes lined up perfectly. As others have noted, the assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. But if you are buying a press you should be able to figure out how to assemble it with little/no guidance....otherwise you should own a press....lol I tested the press to 3/4 rating. The pump takes some serious effort to pump once you get beyond 1/2 of the units rating. That said, when I build a bench for this unit I will be mounting the pump lower than the press so I can give myself more leverage to pump with. Not having had a chance to actually use this yet, I'll check back in after a few uses. ... show more

  • Awesome Quality for the Price Point
I feel the overall quality of the unit is very high for the price point. Is it the best press out there?...No...but unless you plan on spending serious money for something that you won't use this is a quality press. Shipping was very quick. Honestly I have used a $150 Harbor Freight Press and spend the extra money on this one it is much more sturdy and overall feels better and heavier. The biggest complaint I have is that the gauge on mine does not line up perfectly as it should, hence the 4 star as opposed to 5, but really I am being picky and if you are doing automotive things like wheel bearings or homeowner stuff this will be more press than you need. I have done wheel bearings on 3 vehicles and a couple of spindle decks and a hydraulic pump bearing so its still relatively new but it feels like it is going to hold up for a very long time. ... show more

  • I like it but.......
The equipment is ok and that s why I gave it a 4 star rating. The instructions should start off with....Look at the picture and put it together based off of that. The instructions are horrible and the box had made in China printed all over it which explains why the instructions were no good. I would have hoped Dake being a reputable American company they would at least edit or proof read the literature going with the equipment that bears their name. Simple to put together but if not logical it could go together differently and make the press dangerous to us. Maybe Dake will read this and do something about it. It was also delivered 2 days late and the packaging was shredded. Amazon might want to consider using someone other than Pilot to ship to my state. ... show more

  • Excellent tool. Top-notch customer service.
Excellent tool once complete. As initially delivered, one end of the carton had torn open and several important components were missing. However, I filled out the "Contact Us" page at http://www.dakecorp.com with a list of the missing parts and part numbers (from the parts list in the manual). The next day, I had a reply from Dake with a promise that the missing parts would be shipped that day. The parts indeed arrived a couple days later. (I think a couple pieces of strapping around the long direction of the carton would have prevented the problem.) Once assembled, the press has been performing well. I am punching 1 1/2" discs from 18 Ga bronze sheet, which requires around 3 tons on the gauge. Excellent tool, top-notch customer service. ... show more
