Since I wanted them for his sleighing and playing in the snow, I decided to break from my puffy snow pants tradition and try them. Got size 10-12Y. A bit long but not by much, has a gathered elastic waist all around that I was not expecting. You really have to stretch the waist out to put them on. These are hiking pants. ZERO warmth and although I did not test them do not seem terribly water proof or anything. I've lived in winter climates and been a skier for my whole life so I've owned every kind of snow pant you can imagine including plenty of shell pants. There are in no way appropriate for snow activities. That said, for hiking, etc. they look cool and seem to be pretty well made (for the price). Got them for my son and he likes them. My 9 year old daughter had a school trip to the mountains for a full day 9am - 9pm. I was extremely concerned about her staying dry and warm. These pants BLEW my expectations away. They seemed a little thin at first but she said she was super warm all day long, so much so she took off her sweat pants and only kept her thermals on! I tested the waterproofness before she left by dumping a few glasses of water down the front and was extremely impressed with the results. Planning on ordering the next size up for next year! I got my daughter the same size that she would wear in pants and they were enormous. The quality was great so I kept them for her to wear next year, I got what should have been way too small and that was still too big even with lots of layers underneath. My son loves these snow pants! They are thin which gives him the ability to be very active without his movement being hindered by the normal poofy style snow pants. While the exterior layer absorbs a bit of water, the interior fleece layer stays dry and warm. He especially loves the styling because it looks like cool motocross pants. The pants came with an adjustable belt which came in handy since these pants ran a little large. If they came in an adult plus size, I’d immediately buy a pair for myself! ... show more

My 4 year old wears size 4t, these pants are a good 2 inches longer and about an inch bigger in the waist, if it wasn't for the belt he wouldnt be able to even wear them. Not super happy with the purchase.

I was looking for less-bulky snow pants for my 5 year old. These are amazing. They are very warm and stayed dry even while he played in slush. He loves all the pockets. I wish they were wider in the ankles - it's difficult to pull them over the tops of his boots to keep snow out.
