I've been playing the saxophone for almost 50 years, and have owned many. The end plug plays an important role in protecting the octave key mechanism which otherwise "stands proud" of the top of the body and can easily be torqued if mishandled. So, you gotta have an end plug, I would say. Does it have to be this nice? No, but this is functional because it fits nicely and snugly, with o-rings that help it stay in place. And, it looks cool so there is a bling factor. If you love your horn this is like spoiling it. As for the price, of course it's not cheap like a standard plastic cap.

Correct size for an alto saxophone and fits well. It doesn't fall out and serves it's purpose. It is made of a good material. A little hard to pull out because it creates a suction, but that's not a big concern. I like it. A little steep in price for such a small piece.

This is a silicone end plug made for Alto Saxophone. This plug is designed to protect the Saxophone while in the case. This end plug goes into the end where the neck of the saxophone is when the instrument is assembled. This is made from a durable material. The pug is more rigid than I would have thought considering it is made from silicone and is designed to go into a musical instrument. The end plug is about five and three quarters inches in size. Given the amount of money invested in instruments, it is good to take all precautions to protect the mechanism. With that said, I like knowing this end plug will provide extra protection for my saxophone.

This sounded like a good idea on paper, but in practice it doesn't quite hit the mark at least on our old Conn Alto sax. It slides in the neck easily and stays put, but as you can see from the pictures the octave lever is flush with the top of the neck so this plug doesn't touch it or affect it at all. The vented opening is a plus only when compared to other plugs that have a closed end. If you just leave the saxophone unplugged then the venting is the same or better. At least it'll be easy to clean if it gets all spitty and gross from storing the sax too quickly after extended playing. It doesn't get in the way of the plush molding when inserted and the saxophone is in the case so at least there's that. This thing costs way too much for what it is.

This end plug really impressed me with its design and quality. The color is vibrant and looks intentional rather than cheap, and it feels solid in hand with a finish that doesn’t look like a quick injection-molded piece. I installed it seamlessly where I needed it and it fits snugly without any wiggle or loose edges. Beyond just looking good, the material feels durable and well-made — no brittle plastic or thin flimsy feel here. It blends nicely with the rest of the hardware I’m using and gives a polished, complete look to the project. For something so small, it makes a surprisingly positive impact, so I’m happy to give it five stars. Perfect fit on my Yamaha Alto, and far better than the stock end plug it came with. The extra length when it's fully inserted is exactly the right length to keep the sax from sliding around inside my travel case. The double seal works perfectly as well. The basic one I was using had a hard time staying in, but with this D'Addario end plug in, I can literally turn the saxophone upside down and the plug doesn't even move. I expect this to drastically increase the life my sax, just by keeping it from bouncing around in the case when I fly, drive etc.. Great find, and a top tier addition to any travel saxophone kit. I couldn't be more satisfied with it. This is of course a higher end brand, but even at a decent ticket price, its an awesome value!

This is a nice saxophone end plug. This keeps it from getting dented or bent when the neck is removed. It's just hard plastic. But it's way too expensive. Super nice quality, but again...it's just plastic. This feels like the kind of thing that should cost $8, not $39. That's absolutely nuts. I'm dinging it stars so that you'll look for a cheaper product that will work just as well.
