I use my cutting mat daily and have had to replace my Fiskars mats every few months. The last one I bought seemed to only have a self-healing top layer as thick as a sticker, so I decided to try another brand and I’m SO GLAD I FOUND THIS ONE. A month in I can hardly see any wear after daily use and it’s much thicker than the other brand which gives me hope I’ll get to use it for much longer. My only complaint is that the numbers are on the inside of the outer lines so you can’t easily see where to cut if your material goes all the way to the outer boundaries. I just wrote the numbers with a sharpie and that is working for me.

I've done approximately a dozen cutting projects on this mat since I purchased it and it's held up perfectly. I've been using a Fiskars titanium rotary cutter on the mat and while I haven't done heavy materials such as denim as yet the mat has 'healed' perfectly. I can't see on single scratch on it. I read other reviews about having issues with scars on the mat...I have no idea what others are using as a cutter on the mat or how much pressure they are using but I have used the mat as intended and it looks like it did when it was unpacked. It is shipped well...flat and protected. There is a smell upon unpacking. I personally identify the smell as 'typical made in China plastic smell'. I've encountered the same odor on my iPad cases, phone cases, etc. I for one don't think the odor is offensive. It is there and it does go away pretty quickly when the items are exposed to air. It's not roses but it's not noxious. While I didn't sniff the mat daily to see if the odor was still there I can say I didn't notice the smell after a couple of days when I entered the room and moved the mat. Store it flat. I generally leave it on top of the table unless I need that space for the sewing machine or the laptop and then I just slide it under a bookcase in the room. It arrived in perfect condition and it works as it's supposed to. The mat is identical to the photographs and description. I couldn't ask for more!

Protects the table I work on. It is self healing which is important because the board won't be destroyed as head pins pierce the surface when I miss pushing the pin in some fabric.

This is perfect for being able to cut out full pieces without having to shift the mat underneath the fabric. Very high quality i would buy more than one if i had the space.

Note- I use snap off blades to cut, not xacto blades. This factor may greatly change the durability rating and review I am giving. Difference is I am always using a new to near new sharpness. Using an xacto blade forces users to stick with a blade for longer and causes more pressure to be used. So do know this review may be drastically different due to that factor. My usage amount for one of these boards lifespan was 3 months with 8 hours a day usage. And tiny frequent cuts. I had about 1,644 pieces of tiny designs. I used it till there was really no option. Pro - every zone of it was used once one spot was overused and started flaking. Just because one spot is bad it doesn't make the whole thing go to crud Once one side is bad the other side is like brand new! Stays in place on the surface but easy to move and slide This is one that isn't so expensive that you feel it let you down. This does the job at a level I expect should for the price. I know I am going to do heavy use and will eventually destroy any cutting mat. It takes a bit to get to the flaking or tiny pieces starting to come out. That's what happens when you carve things with a blade. Cons- Doesn't use metric In an ideal world these should never go bad but this is an even pay off. So this may not be one to go bragging to everyone about as I don't expect it to do much other than last awhile. It does allow me to afford to put more money into what I am cutting with and material being cut woth a comfortable work area. User difference info - I do use olfa brand blades for my snap off blades In a dewalt brand holder. No arthritis issues at all with those hours. And the blades are where the true investment to be towards. Circle cutter on it was ok -. grip isn't strong enough to not slide a bit while having to hold pressure down and turning of the device. I don't love or hate this board, I am happy with it because it logically makes sense that it has reached the point of needing to be replaced. I used it a lot and these can only take so many cuts.

I am a model builder. This is a very sturdy item and I am using it to protect my work surfaces from potential cutting and occasional paint spillage. Itr works great. Also find the dimensions on the board very useful.
