  • A definite improvement...
Style Name: Uni-Loc
I'd like to preface my review with this: if you are the casual shooter (maybe a few times a month), please make sure this isn't just a frivolous buy to impress those around you. If you play like I do, which is typically 4-5 days a week, both in leagues and casual, you are in the right spot! I ordered this as a second shaft for my Lucasi LUX50. The original shaft is the QFLEX slim (11.75mm) shaft. The original shaft does have more flex to it. This is by design for accuracy over impact to reduce deflections. I have found it to be a throroughly well playing shaft. I have been debating on ordering the Cuetec shaft for a few months, and finally pulled the trigger. I don't regret the decision one bit. The one thing I disliked about the QFlex Slim shaft was the tendency of hard shots being not as accurate. There are times when you need to shoot harder, and these shots were a 50/50 on being accurate. It's a great shaft for a finesse game where english and accuracy more important. Honestly great feedback from the shaft when making a shot as well. Upon receiving the Cuetec shaft, I was a bit anxious to see the performance. I had played a few games with a friend's that was the 12.5mm variety, yet I prefer a smaller tip for play. Unpackinging was great. No issue with appearance or quality. Everything perfectly packaged and displayed as removed from box. Test fitted the shaft to my cue...smooth and effortless. Transferred the necessary items to my cue case, and made plans to go play pool. I played 20 plus games that evening with friends. Because of the difference in the initial feel of the cue with the new shaft, it took a couple of racks to adjust to the solid feedback (definitely no problem there) and the reduction in the flex compared to the Lucasi original shaft. Accuracy on simple cut shots is spot on. Longer cut shots with english were solid, and accurate, maybe more so than before. Cut shots of greater than 45 degrees took a few adjustments in my shot speed and english to get the results I wanted. Once I made a few more shots with adjustments, I started to gain more of a natural feel for the Cuetec, where it started to be second nature. The big test was with shooting banks and harder shots. Shots requiring a harder hit with english definitely surprised me more than anything. There are times when you need the ability to shoot a harder shot, be accurate with the proper english, in order to break a cluster of balls apart in order to finish a rack. The very first time I was faced with this, I was amazed with the results. The shot speed, accuracy and english were spot on, shot made, and english directed the cue ball almost exactly where I wanted it to hit the clustered balls, leaving the an easy cut to continue my run. During the night I had two other opportunities for the same purpose: making the shot and breaking clustered balls to continue shooting. I was 2 out of three at nights end. The one missed shot was full table length, so the english didn't quite follow through. After about ten games, bank shots were actually more accurate. I'm about a 60/40 bank shooter, so naturally I only bank when necessary. As for english, well, I actually had to tone down a little on english, specifically when performing a draw. my first shot to draw the cue back a few inches resulted in about an 18 inch draw instead of around 3-4 inches as intended. With a couple of adjustments, I was seeing exactly what I wanted regarding this. All in all, this is a definite great choice. My suggestion is to go into the change to this shaft with an open mind. As this is my first carbon fiber shaft, I made the mistake of thinking the feedback on shots would be similary to my other three cues. Nope. It is a different feed back. It is a solid feedback to you pick up quickly. It is also solid on overall performance. After a few games, it was a definite no-brainer. I had debated on purchasing this or the Lucasi CF. After researching and reading reviews, Cuetec is definitely the choice to make. Also, Maintenance is easier than on standard wooden cue shafts. Just use 75% Isopropyl alcohol with a lint free non-abrasive rag. Cuetec includes 8 wipes of this nature with the shaft. You can easily buy 75% alcohol wipes on Amazon, just make sure they are alcohol only wipes, as some contain aloe. If you are looking to improve your game, as well as reduce maintenance of your equipment, you can't go wrong with the Cuetec in your bag. ... show more

  • I will say overall I would change stars To all fours or better as time goes on
Style Name: 5/16 x 18
Shaft/warranty what will void warranty. Well I heard that using baby powder for example which is a requirement that I must have I don’t know if it’s my skin oils what are the weather conditions well in Kentucky you’re going to get that so it’s hard to say. Glove get sweaty only Using my Hands that’s not gonna work friction friction friction. I put baby powder on A super soft cotton cloth an rub stick time to time for a smooth stroke . How does this void warranty well I just figured that they’re trying to say that it would sand over time come on now I know that’s not true! If so within a year or two I should have a messed up stick but I highly doubt it. OK listen I’m playing pool and bye I’m on the rail and scraping on metal on the Caps of the table. Now that could scar. Either way it goes if you bring your stick to Cuetec with scars they’re going to void warranty saying you done something you was not supposed to do or use. Listen people there they are going to void warranty either way it goes I’m sure of it or they are going to tell you later not now that you need to pay a $200 deductible postage etc. ha ha I’m just joking! I hope! OK What If tiger tip fails. And you replace it however and done a great job Weather done by an amateur or professional installer. Does that void warranty ! Because otherwise why would you have serial numbers on the stick that you must register. Listen people If you break a craftsman tool whether you’re the original owner or not just take it up there and they will give you a Replacement . What if my shaft was stolen. Do I call the police and give them the serial number now when do police start checking serial numbers on pool cues. Now if I need a temp and maintenance done on the synergy I can see needing a serial number because then if you call QTEC and report it stolen and someone comes in there with a stick it will pop up as stolen. Now that would be handy. Otherwise Cuetec is going to charge a freaking fortune to replace your tip and do I got to keep the tiger or it will be you said it right void warranty. Let’s carry-on since were talking about the tiger tip the Tiger Woods pool cue professional tip. How long does it Tiger Woods golf. Why didn’t they call it the shane van Boeing tip. Since the stick was inspired by him and designed I guess. OK well can you guarantee me the tiger tip is his choice to. Because what I know of it he probably would not have chosen that tip. I have miscued and miscued and miscued on Drawl shots spin shots Masse Is extremely difficult and miscue. Now why doesn’t CuEtec send me a brochure or a video preferably on what shot you can do and what you can’t do! But wait there’s help over time you will get used to watch you can or cannot do! Chopped every time every time ever shot over if you want to be sure. I’m telling you don’t take the chance chalk your tip. Anyway I did let up off from the draw I was using extreme bottom and it did not like it at all nor did the owner of the pool hall. It lifted it up just like an amateur would do making a jumpshot, and we will call that a miscue ,But OK I’ve gotten used to it a little bit more well actually a whole lot a shoot a lot of pool. So my testimony is very accurate with the use of the synergy I would love to send you a video but I don’t want to put myself out there because I want to see if Cuetec will sponsor me first. With of course negotiations in Play . OK spin an masse , attempts failed miserably , miscue of course. But wait there’s good news before you start using your synergy get you a piece of fine sandpaper and rub the edges of the stick mainly and since you got the sand paper available just do the whole tip. You will need to do this I promise . to make it all flow just gently until you feel its skrufted up A little But enough. If it miscues again you must give it a chance and continue unless MisCue frequently than sand again Chalk every time steel. Then you will be in good shape it cost me a lot of money to figure this out more than $400 which I paid for the stick in damages And losses. Not to mention my confidence which is most importantly my money maker. Priceless! I know I have already told you that there’s good news and it’s coming. Man The synergy sure does get English. I can do some amazing things. I Use a lot of extreme English anyway. Excellent drawls just don’t go too low lol. Really good spin once you learn how because there is no good don’t forget the sand paper Once you get all the kinks worked out I will rate the synergy. 4 - 4 1/2 star depending on The tip that day. Because I do like it and I have gotten used to it which when you spend $400 you will tend to get used to things. . I wish I hadn’t gotten used to scratching though. Enjoy or save your money to keep the stick you have ... show more

  • Would not fit my 3/8 x 10 joint
Style Name: 3/8" X 10
I have an older McDermott cue bought in 1990s When I tried to put it on it would not thread correctly so I didn’t force it. However, it did fit on a recently bought Star 3/8 x 10 joint. Very unfortunate and I had to return.

  • Best cue shaft I've used so far
Style Name: Uni-Loc
This is by far the best cue shaft I've used by far. I have a Lucasi Custom cue that I use this with and I don't think I'll ever go back to using wood shafts. This shaft is extremely smooth and the deflection is minimal when I apply english to my shots. I'll likely change out the tip for something a little softer but the stock tip is really good as it is so I'm in no rush to do that. Mine came with some Cuetec cleaning wipes which you can buy separately for a premium price OR you can just purchase some isopropyl alcohol wipes and it'll be the exact same thing. ... show more
