The inside is lined with flannel and secured with a screw. Overall, I like this urn; however, there were a few minor nicks. This could have happened in the packing.     • A Lovely Repository For a Loved One's Remains!
This cremation box is absolutely lovely! It's solid, well constructed, sturdy, and weightier than I thought it would be. It may not be real wood, but it certainly looks and feels like it! The carving on the top and sides is understated, yet elegant. The inside has nice black velvet on all sides except for the access panel on the bottom. And speaking of access panels, no need to worry that your 8-year-old great-grandson is going to get a peek at your remains. When the panel is slid in, there's a screw to keep it in place. Can't slide the panel out with the screw in it. A child would have to be pretty curious and pretty industrious to go to the trouble of hunting down a screwdriver. You'll be safe unless he channels his inner MacGyver and fashions a homemade screwdriver out of a belt prong and a chrysanthemum. This is a lovely wooden urn. The details are very nice. It unscrews and the bottom slides out to open it. The inside is lined with felt. I have a wooden urn from my 140 pound dog and this one is much bigger. It would definitely fit any size pet or person's ashes. I had the ashes from one of my dogs who crossed the rainbow bridge 20 years ago still in the tin I was given from the crematorium so I was glad to have something beautiful for her ashes.     • Repurpose this now for immediate usefulness and when the time comes you are ready.
I repurpose these for other useful uses. When the time comes I have requested my funeral ashes to be deposited in a cremation urn. This is a large enough item to put an array whatnots in a single place. I’m using it to hold a multiple array of USB cords for my various electronics. It can also hold some small electronic devises. The down side is that the sliding door is on the bottom so to use it one must turn the item over. You could leave it upside down but then you would miss out on the very attractive and detailed wood carved cover. ... show more

This is just a lovely piece of art for your loved ones eternal resting place. I needed a new place for my beloved grandmother to take her ashen slumber and this more than met my expectations. The carvings are so intricate and beautiful the size is perfect and the box is so sturdy compared to what she had been originally placed in. This lovely wooden box is far better than expected, and superior to the $200 urn offered by the funeral home. If you are in need of an urn or alternate container for cremains, this is a beautiful choice. I was impressed with how well this box was packed with corner protectors on top and bottom. The relief carving on the top is beautifully done, and the side ornamentation is not overly ornate. The bottom slides open and closes securely with a screw. This urn box is just beautiful. It's big and can hold not only ashes but mementoes. The detailing is so pretty on the top. There is a screw on the bottom. Once you unscrew the bottom piece will slide out. The bottom will stay in place without the screw since it slides in and out. You must turn the box upside-down in order to put your stuff inside. Bought this for my deceased mother. Think she would have liked it. Need to figure out how to open it. Very pretty design. It's a very nice choice. Urns are a very personal choice and decision to make. This is basic but a nice choice.
