I love the look of the snake texture in these chains. They do need to be rubbed with a soft, dry cloth free of lint to loosen the links that became slightly stuck during the plating process, I assume, and to prevent turning skin black. A few of the lobster clasps stick open, though, and I will need to replace them with better quality, but most function as they should. The loop they clasp onto is a tad too small widthwise for the clasp to fit neatly into. They tend to clasp at an awkward angle due to the tight fit. Otherwise, I am quite happy with these chains. They look very elegant with my more delicate wire-wrapped pendants. I ordered 2 of each length for my jewelry making business. Unfortunately, one of the 18in packs was missing on arrival. The Amazon box was severely damaged in transit, and one end of the box was torn completely open, so I'm assuming it fell out in the back of the truck. It was packed very loosely with several other heavier items with very little packing material to keep the items from tumbling around in the box, and I have not been able to resolve this with Amazon, as the "need help with your item" only allows you to select a reason for returning. I do not wish to return the item I received, I just want the 2nd pack of 18in chain to be replaced. Hopefully, Amazon will see this review and replace the item lost. ... show more

If in time you have collected an assortment of pendants, such strings are indispensable. Particularly when you are reaching the last phase of your life (I am 82) you can start making gifts of your semi-precious jewelry that is getting a new life with these strings. Glad I found them; superpractical.
