This was perfect for cutting out the hinges on slab doors. It doesn't come with a blade so you will need one. I wouldn't want to use this in a commercial setting.     • Its great. The bits cost almost as much as this thing.
Was missing a knob for the adjustment and at first thought I needed it but turns out I didn't. The company responded within like 10 mins to resolve the issue. Offered a cash replacement for the knob but again, don't even need it. It cuts great. Have done two countertops tonight and can't find a complaint. Maybe the people complaining about heat are running it for bigger jobs or extended time, but to cut laminate formica countertops this thing is awesome. I can think of a lot of things to use it for now. Product 5 stars, company support 10 stars. And I'm a real guy from Florida, not one of the fake amazon reviews you read about. ... show more

    • Disappointing in the basics
One problem I noticed from the start: Incomplete literature. A "Handling Instructions" booklet was included that contains only the generic safety instructions for any power tool. Oddly, the entire last page talks about "taking care of your sander." There were no operating instructions, no maintenance instructions, and no cleaning instructions. The clear base collects sawdust and looks like it is designed to be cleanable, but I can't be sure. A spare set of motor brushes is included, which is great, but no instructions on how to install them. Also included are two guide attachments. Again, no usage instructions. I'm glad I already had some experience with a router and I think I was able to figure out how these attachments were used. I doubt I will ever need them. Operationally, the unit runs like it should. The motor has a lot of torque and you can feel it jump when you turn it on. The on/off switch is a toggle switch, which is a bit surprising. I expected a slide or rocker switch. The BIG problem is the depth adjustment sleeve. It does not fit snugly and the depth changes during use. There is nothing in it to grip the motor housing, just polished plastic. The design has the sleeve about 3/32-inch large at the end of the unit and it tightens conically through the thumbscrew in the middle of the sleeve. So, while it looks like the entire length is grasping the unit, only the top of it really is. If you tighten the thumbscrew ridiculously tight (10-15 ft-lb?), the depth holds for several minutes of operation. However, with just a little effort, you can still make the unit wobble in the sleeve, which reveals how the depth auto-changes, and I'm fearful of how long the plastic would survive that much stress. It needs something to create grip inside the sleeve. I'm returning the unit for a replacement, hoping that this one's problems are non-typical. If the sleeve grips properly and usage instructions are included, I'll be satisfied. UPDATE: The replacement is slightly different and the sleeve grips adequately. Still no improvement in the literature; I'll be pinging Amazon support for help on that. ... show more

Cuts through wood like butter. Make sure you run it across the wood steady and you'll get good results. Really great product for its price point. looking forward to using it for other jobs in the future. This tool is a great addition to my tool-set.

If you want a cheap router that you MUST wear a thick glove with at all times then this item is for you. Other wise spend the extra money. 40 bucks more and bought myself a cordless router with double handles it is like night and day compared to this unit. But that is my preference
