  • I bought new, but got an open box...
So, overall, the product is as advertised. I had lost my extra modules for my EVGA 750 B2, and I needed a few more SATA plugs, picked this up for what I felt was a good deal, and it was everything that I needed with bonus power available, and fully modular unlike my EVGA, as well as linking with my oddly many other corsair items(fans, aio, case). Shipped and received in the promised time, no issues there. Install was quick, disappointed with the lack of distinction of the two Link cables included. While I understood the difference between the two, and that only ONE is needed for use(USB if your computer has an available USB 2.0 port), others that are kinda new will not. Another thing I was a little annoyed by was that while yes they offer two dual 8 pin connections, not everyone is running a dual GPU setup. I know I'm not. For cable managements sake, I would have preferred one less molex, and a single 8 pin connection. Would look much better, and I wouldn't have a random unused 8 pin floating around. At this price point, I would have liked to see some at least braided skins over the plastic cables. I didn't realize they were this shiny. My biggest gripe is actually with Amazon on this one though, I had purchased one that claimed it was "New", and as the pictures show, that was not the case. Yes everything was there, but I don't want to have to question what this PSU has been through. I'm fine buying an open box, but I want to know that I'm doing that AHEAD of time, not after. I don't know why this PSU was returned, or if it was checked before hand. Overall, this thing works well so far, cables are more than long enough, and it dropped in simple into my Air 540 Carbide, and it was decently priced for the options. ... show more

  • All the power I will ever need
As part of my new build, I decided to go with this Corsair power supply. Three things of importance to me when I was looking for a new power supply, is that it is capable of high wattage, modular (The last power supply in my previous build was not and lacked flexibility in cabling), and certified. This Corsair has got that covered, it is platinum certified, has detachable cables and a lot of them, and so far has steadily provided the power I need for my new machine. The fan is very quiet and the power supply looks good too. This is one quality power supply and has a great 7 year warranty. I did have a small issue with the ATX cables not wanting to snap in place and came lose a bit but I pushed it in further and it has held just fine since. This also comes with the Corsair link but unfortunately I could use it as it takes a USB connection on the board which I didn’t have available due to the case taking the ports already. I would have liked an option to connect the link some other way, but since I will use the ASUS software instead, it was a minor issue for me. There are eight (8) PCIe connectors and 12 SATA flat cable connectors that are as well made as the power supply. 5 stars My build (designed for future upgrade-ability and expandability) is as follow (using Windows 7 Pro, each hardware part, I will review separately) Creative Lab Sound Blaster Z Asus X99 Deluxe Motherboard Cooler master Nepton 240M Water cooler Cooler Master Cosmo II case EVGA 04G-P4-2978-KR GTX 970 video card Kingston Hyper X Predator memory DDR4 2400 (16 GB) Samsung EVO 850 SSD Hard drive (main boot drive) Seagate Hybrid hard drive (secondary drive) Intel 5820K CPU Corsair HX850I Platinum certified Power supply ... show more

  • Quiet and powerful when needed
I originally bought this because of the good reviews and my previous experience with Corsair PC components. I can say, I'm not disappointed. The fully modular design allows just the cables I need to be plugged in, reducing potential disruptions in airflow caused by unnecessary cable clutter. The USB port on the PSU allows the device to plug into an internal USB 2.0 header and communicate with the CorsairLINK software, which allows me to monitor things like power consumption, power output, fan speed, PSU temperature, and calculated efficiency. Right now I'm sitting at 79.42% efficiency with jumps every so often up to 80ish%, with the fan spinning at 0 RPMs... Wait, what? Yes friends, this power supply is so smart that even its fan knows when to stop spinning... er, start spinning. The fan on this critter doesn't spin up until the PSU reaches a certain load level. That means you have one less fan spinning in your computer to make noise. Which is a good thing, because my computer sits on top of my desk, just to the right of my main monitor. The less I hear from it, the better. Don't worry about it not working though, there is a test button on the unit that will spin up the fan so you know it is still functional. My plans are to only use this with a single video card... Currently a GTX 970, and this PSU is providing plenty of power to keep everything up and running. Power wise, I've got the aforementioned video card, a i7 6700k (not over clocked at the moment,) 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR 4 RAM, a Corsair H100i GTX dual 120mm radiator water cooler, a Samsung 950 pro 256GB M.2 SSD, 2 Kingston 240GB SSDs in a RAID-0, a 4TB hybrid Seagate HDD, keyboard and mouse of course, and a USB wireless headset beaming music to me while I write this all plugged into an ASUS Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 motherboard, and the CorsairLINK software is telling me I'm using only about 65 watts from the wall, with the occasional jumps up to just under 100 watts. This PSU is doing exactly what it's supposed to do and not whining about it (fan whine that is). ... show more
