The scent seems accurate but extremely watered down. The price is nice however, I'm not sure if this becomes a value or not in the end, given the quantity one would have to use for a lasting scent

I had a bottle of Cool Water way back in the early 90s. I really didn't think it was that great back then, but was looking for a fresher, summery scent and jumped on the good price here at Amazon. One thing that can be misleading is the product image. As I've found out, Davidoff reformulated Cool Water and the packaging changed. The picture shows Davidoff spelled in script/cursive, but Davidoff was in block letters/print when the bottle arrived. That told me it's the reformulated version. So, what's the difference? The reformulation doesn't last near as long. It also doesn't cost near as much. The scent itself isn't as deep. You could even say if you were comparing this reformulation to the original, it would be like the difference in an EDP and an after shave. The good news for me: I only want it for spring/summer use and it will mostly be on weekends. It still smells good so don't think the reformulation completely ruined it, but it won't last near as long on you as the original. I have tried it twice since purchasing it and got 4-6 hours of skin scent from it. Maybe at best, 2 hours of projection scent, meaning I could smell it without having to stick my nose to my wrist. If you're looking for that original formula, you're probably going to have to search out a "vintage" bottle, which will cost anywhere from 4-8 times as much as this formulation. If I wanted to wear this on a daily basis I would just buy one of those 5 ML empty spray bottles and keep it with me with this in it to spray on when it weakens. It's far from a bad deal at this price. You could spray this on 3-4 times a day and get a good 6 months of use out of the 4.2 ounce bottle. Just know ahead of time that you're not getting the original formulation and to my knowledge, outside of buying a vintage bottle, there's no other way to get the original formulation. ... show more
