Features

  • GENERATES CHLORINE FROM SALT The SmarterSpa hot tub and spa chlorinator automatically produces chlorine using a small amount of ordinary salt (sodium chloride) dissolved in water, making it the ideal solution for spas, portable hot tubs or inflatable hot tubs. SmarterSpa is the only salt chlorine generator on the market that powers on automatically, keeping your water perfectly chlorinated at all times.
  • GENTLE ON EYES AND SKIN The electrolysis process produces chlorine from salt, which naturally softens water for spas and hot tubs up to 2000 gallons. The soft, gentle feel makes the SmarterSpa a better choice for those with sensitive skin.
  • SIMPLIFIES SPA MAINTENANCE The SmarterSpa chlorinator is the only saltwater chlorine generator for residential spas with chlorine detection built into the electrode. The self-cleaning reverse polarity system reduces time spent worrying about maintenance, giving you more time to relax and enjoy the clean water.
  • EASY TO INSTALL AND USE Using its built-in chlorine detection system, the SmarterSpa will generate only what it needs, when it needs it. This plug-and-play system does not require any plumbing or mechanical alterations. Instead, the electrode drops straight into the main body of water and automatically chlorinates from there.
  • MADE IN THE USA All ControlOMatic products are made in the USA and come with a 1-year warranty. The package includes a SmarterSpa Control Box, SmarterSpa Electrode, 5.5 VDC Power Supply with 110-240 VAC Input, test strips (salt, free chlorine, pH, alkalinity, hardness), a card with QR code for Warranty activation and User Manual.

Description

ControlOMatic SmarterSpa Saltwater Chlorine Generator with Built-In Chlorine Detection SmarterSpa is the only saltwater chlorine generator with chlorine detection built into the electrode. In other words, it knows when to turn on, right when your spa needs more chlorine. When it turns off, it will be off until it detects that it needs more chlorine, preventing overchlorination. SmarterSpa eliminates the guesswork. SmarterSpa features two components: an easy-to-use control box that can be mounted to your spa's skirt and a drape- over electrode. Since it drapes straight into the main body of water, you don't need to modify your spa or hot tub. Add 1.5 pounds of salt per 100 gallons of water, and then place the electrode in the tub. From there, just plug the power supply into a wall outlet, and your SmarterSpa is ready to generate chlorine! For larger spas (1,200 gallons and larger), ControlOMatic also offers the MegaChlor-CD, which has all the same features as the SmarterSpa plus faster chlorine production. This is especially recommended for tubs in warmer climates due to the higher chlorine demand per gallon. • Smarter Spa +
Size: Smart Cycle - Spas
I purchased a ControlOmatic Smarter Spa Saltwater Chlorine Generator and it works amazing. Crystal clear water, without normal chlorine smell or corrosion of electronic accessories on my spa. I've saved hundreds of dollars in chlorine , shock, PH up & down products and stabilizers because I don't need them any more. I loved it so much, when new model came out (Sparter Spa+) I quickly upgraded. The phone APP is wonderful, but lacks giving user access to even basic historical log information about when chlorination cycles start and finish. ... show more

  • Made our spa as maintenance free as it gets
Size: Smart Cycle - Spas
Okay, right at 6 months of use and I’m ready to review this. We started with the dumb version of this, and it just couldn’t keep our water chemistry steady. Returned that and took a chance on the smart version. Man, am I glad we did. The hardest part was adding a GFCI 120VAC outlet inside our main spa equipment area. I ended up tapping into one leg of the 240 main feed that hits the terminal blocks at our spa pack — this is where I got my ground, Neutral, and hot for the 120v outlet. I felt comfortable doing this as the wall wart for the smarter spa draws almost no current, this location will keep the wall wart warm, there are no cords running from the controlomatic across the ground to some other outlet, and I labeled the new GFCI outlet “for salt water chlorine generator only”. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, consult an electrician for your specific situation, but mine passed county electrical inspection without issue. I followed the instructions closely and filled our tub with fresh water from the garden hose. I then used a cheap Amazon TDS meter to get a baseline water mineral reading (the water was in the 400s straight from the spigot). I looked up the gallon capacity of our spa, and wrote down the amount of pool salt the manual said we would need — taking into account our baseline TDS in addition to the TDS amount the salt would add. Once I felt we had the salt perfect, I plugged everything in and dropped the controlomatic probe into the deepest part of our tub. I ended up tying a little floaty shark thing that came with a spa thermometer to the wire attached to the probe so the probe would remain vertical in the water and barely touching the bottom — I felt this was better than it laying on its side on the bottom. At any rate, this thing has 10 levels of adjustment. I spent about 2 weeks trying different settings and writing down my water test results after each adjustment. Based on the gallons in our tub, the amount we use the tub, and the temperature we like to soak at, setting 5 is perfect for us and maintains spot-on water chemistry (we don’t use oils or other fancy scented stuff in our water so I think this adds to not having to adjust anything further). For the last 5 and a half months, all I’ve had to do is test the water every week or two, skim out leaves and debris with a net, and fill from the hose as water evaporates. That’s it. No adding of chemicals whatsoever and NONE of the associated chemical smell or harshness. One thing I did do, was I added a little extra pool salt until the light turned green (blue led = ideal salt level, green = high but okay, blinking red/green = excessive salt, the unit will not operate). I did this because the little extra salt creates a nice soft feel on the skin. We went on vacation and the spa water wasn’t tested for 4 weeks. When we got home, I tested the crystal clear and odor free water and the chemistry was perfect and I used the spa that evening! If you’re willing to put in a little work to install it properly and then do some dedicated testing and adjusting to find your ideal level setting, this thing will amaze you with very little spa maintenance and none of the smells and work having to deal with nasty chemicals on a regular basis. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

I am a busy guy. I don’t have time to be keeping chemicals balanced. Have been in spas that have toxic chlorine smells. This alleviates both problems. Salt water is easy on the skin as well. Just add the salt to water plug this baby in and enjoy the simplicity. Just remember to balance the hardness of the water and pH with each spa water exchange q3 months ... show more

  • You pay for what you get 5star
Size: Smart Cycle - Spas
I have been using this product over a year now. Have always been accustomed for just managing our hottub with constant chemicals not caring for what it did to our skin or clothes. when you only do 1 thing a specific way you never know what you could be missing. this is a general practice around salt water hottubs /pools. since changing over and using this Smartspa product I have not had to add chlorine, only need to balance it once a week and our skin feels fresh and not dry. I did ample research between different products and mainly ones that did not require any hardware changes to you physical tub. The reason we went with this product over others is its ability to detect chlorine levels and not produce chlorine when levels are adequate, this saves you from over chlorination and increases the life of your product. we just had an issue with the cable that gets draped into the hot tub deteriorating . Contacted support and they were aware of this problem already upgraded it on newer models and are sending a replacement at no cost. This is truly what you look for in a company. 5 stars for product and design. 5 stars for support. I would happily buy again and recommend to others. ... show more

Unit came in a bag all tangled up. No box or instruction. Downloaded instruction from manufacture website. Unit would not work properly. I was able to send an Emal to the manufacture who told me they originally did not recognize the serial number then told me unit had been return in working condition and later re-sold by the Amazon Seller. The manufacture has been very helpful, but I now need to send the unit back to have bench tested. ZERO stars for the seller. FIVE stars so far for the manufacture we get a 3-star average. More to come. ... show more
