This is, generally, a very nice water bottle. It will leak if the straw is open and it tips over - any water in the straw, plus any that is above the point where water would enter the straw at the angle it falls to when tipped. But it seals well, and if it does tip when open, it's still less mess than an open glass. Best bet is to make a habit of closing the straw between sips when drinking, especially if you are around electronics or anything else that could be damaged if wet. Don't use with carbonated beverages, the gas has nowhere to go when it is closed, and the release of pressure when it opens can cause a bit of a "volcano" of escaping liquid pushed out by the gas pressure in the bottle. ... show more

I have been using the contigo bottle for many years. When I went to reorder I found that the old very similar model was no longer available. The replacement model is almost the same except: 1. the hangle on top is smaller and no longer has the push in hook that allowed me to attach it to my backpack. When the drink spout is open the new smaller handle does not fit my hand comfortably. 2. the drinking spout of the old model was placed more on a slant that allowed me to more easily use the straw. The new model has less of a slant towards your face and this causes me to have to move my face forward to drink. I would love to know why they changed the degree of the slant. It is a mindor detail that I noticed right away. I tried a lot of water bottles and this bottle is still my favorite. Just wished they had kept things as was. ... show more
