The weight of the Newton Ridge Hiking Boot can vary slightly depending on the size. However, in general, these boots are designed to be lightweight for comfort during long hikes. An average weight is about 15oz or 425g per boot.

While the Newton Ridge Boots are waterproof and thus suitable for light snow, they don't have specific insulation for cold winter temperatures. For very cold weather or heavy snow, it's recommended to use boots designed specifically for winter conditions.

  • These are AWESOME!!
Color: Shark, River Blue Size: 10
I’m not a big reviewer, but I’ve got to give props to these shoes!! I have an upcoming trip to Newfoundland and we will do some hiking so I needed some hiking boots. I’m usually a little apprehensive about buying shoes online but the reviews were so good (and it was Columbia) so I decided to give these a try. When they arrived, I took them out for a spin to break them in a bit before the trip and found out, there was absolutely no need.! The shoes are completely comfortable directly from the box. They didn’t look too high in the photo but they do an excellent job supporting my ankle, a problem area for me. If you were hesitating at all, just do it. I am so happy I bought them! ... show more

  • The Best Wide Hiking Boot Ever!
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 6 Wide
As a wide flat footed 29 yr old woman, I have actively avoided purchasing "wide" shoes due to not liking their aesthetic. These shoes though are beautiful, functional, and incredibly comfortable. From the moment I put them on they felt like I'd been wearing them in for weeks. My flat foot was able to spread out perfectly in the toe box with a little bit of extra room that leads to a great comfortable fit. I 've used them for neighborhood walks, technical hikes climbing ladders, cycling, and just everyday concrete jungle walking downtown. The laces are great, I love the hooks at the top which make it super easy to get on and off. While I generally prefer soles with a better "boardfeel" or flexibility, I haven't felt any discomfort from the lack thereof in this rigid soled shoe. Overall, would definitely recommend this shoe for anyone looking for a <$100 boot. ... show more

  • Great Boots!
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 8 Wide
Purchased the boots for a trip to Alaska. Wore them all day on some of the tours and they were extremely comfortable, warm, and kept my feet dry. Only drawback is that they have a rubber odor that is pretty strong when you first take them out of the box. Maybe, my nose is just sensitive. I left them in the garage for a couple of weeks to let them air out. Still had some odor, but by the end of the trip is was not as bad. Except for the odor the were perfect. ... show more

  • The Most Comfortable shoe/boot I’ve found in YEARS
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 9.5 Wide
Seriously. So. Comfortable. Warm but not chunky or bulky. Padding hugs and supports in the ankles. Lighter than normal work boots and better support than most comparably priced. Easy to clean with just a damp cloth. Been wearing for about a month and still love them just as much as the first time I tried them on. So glad I found these, can’t wait for the cold weather to come back so I can buy a cuter pair for other than work! Would rather wear them than my New Bal sneakers on the weekends. I wear a nine 1/2 wide and they made my feet look so cute and small. True to size & fit. Especially love the red laces! ... show more

  • Comfy and dry
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 7.5
Wore these only once prior to my Yosemite trip ona dog walk to “break in”. Read about a million reviews and these are it!! Kept my feet dry up the mist trail no issues slipping comfortable after 10 mile day! Worth every penny not to mention how many people I saw had these on at YNP!! No break in period I listened to reviews and sized up half a size to 7.5 and had absolutely no issues! ... show more

  • I love them!
Color: Oxford Tan, Dusty Green Size: 8.5
Arrived quickly, they're very beautiful and comfortable. They'resupposed to be waterproof as well, but since it's the middle of the summer I'll have to update when winter comes. So far I love them. I've ordered size 8 and I'm EU39 for those outside the US, I still have a little bit of room at the top of the foot. ... show more

  • These are great boots
Color: Shark, River Blue Size: 12
I wore these on a trip to Iceland and it was worth it;s weight in gold. I walked through waterfalls, streams, and puddles; walked along black sand beaches and my feet stayed dry and warm. I paired these with Land's end snow pants that completely covered the top of the boots.

  • Overall, Gravy!
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 8
Updating again because I'm awesome :-)- Well obviously I love these, but even to this day they look new. No busted seams, cracks or anything. I've upgraded my laces to elastic boot laces so I can easily slide these on without having to tie any laces, for those moments while you're camping and in the middle of the night when you gotta get up and go outside. Easy least, I love them. UPDATE#2!!!- Okay y’all so just for fun i’m giving you another update on these beauties. this summer i was a Rec Leader at an outdoor nature-centric Summer Camp. The park is a protected natural preserve and everyday i was walking at least 2 miles a day through wet grass, muddy slippery rocky trails, heavy rain, dirt/dust, climbing in & out of sinkholes of limestone rock, getting splashed on by kids in the pool, etc. i wore these EVERYDAY this summer because i was not about to ruin my sneakers for the job, summer is rainy season here and it gets SO HOT so i knew it just made sense to wear these. They help up fantastic. They still look new- nothing is loose or cracked whatsoever. they’re nice and tight and crisp, albeit a little dirty :)) just wanted to let you know how they held up with everyday wear and tear bc i definitely tested them this summer. and they remain strong :). I’m going to Tennessee in a few weeks and these will again be the only shoes i bring :) you just can’t go wrong. these are my go-to shoes for moments where regular sneakers just won’t cut it. still 1000% recommend. love these so much UPDATE!- so I’ve come and gone to Iceland with these babies as my ONLY shoes for the trip- a week full of hiking, exploring and campervan-ing. They did not disappoint! The slight concern on my first post was definitely my own problem, lacing them all the way or halfway never gave me any tongue-chafing again. I LOVE the lace hooks from the ankle up- it made taking the shoes off and on in airports a total breeze. I was in freezing temps, wore with some cheap wool socks, my feet were always warm. Lightweight you can run with no problems but sturdy to where you still feel supported. It rained many times while I wore them, I even had to step into a little river to cross and continue a hiking trail- the boots were submerged to where the icy water was halfway up foot level but my feet were completely dry, (I even stayed there a few extra seconds to test the shoe’s power) the outside of the shoe barely looked wet and dried shortly after that as if it never happened. Wonderful shoes- again for the price you just can’t beat them. Would highly recommend and purchase again in a heartbeat! ORIGINAL- These are so nice! I needed a pair of waterproof hiking boots for my upcoming Iceland trip in October, and boy am i impressed. Right off the bat they are super comfy and sturdy but still lightweight- (nothing like my Dr. marten boots i own that are stylish, but feel like bricks.) great grip on the bottoms, nice height too- not too tall where they chafe your ankles but not too low where they still support your ankles. Love the colors too- the red laces add a nice touch of color and the camel color is beautiful. Very well made, great quality, suede is nice and soft, no loose stitching or anything like that-these look built to last. So far ive only worn them out once to a local nature trail through the woods, and it rained a bit while i was out. (usually i wear sneakers on that trail and wobble over the roots and rocks)- but with these, i felt so secure as i walked, they were very comfortable to wear, and even after the mud and rain- They looked new straight of of the box. I'm guessing its the way its designed, but bottom of the boot did a really good job at keeping the debris Under the shoe rather than All Over it. My only complaint, and this could by my own issue and not the shoe's, is that while i wore them, i laced them up all the way. I don't know if this is how you're supposed to wear these, because the lace hoops really only come up to the top of your ankle, where your foot bends- and above that, there arent holes fr the laces but hooks that you can use to close up the boot more securely i'm guessing.- But when i did this, i did feel some discomfort on one of my feet from the inner ankle area where the laces felt too tight and were making the tongue of the boot kinda rub and press on my foot/ankle. It wasn't unbearable, but uncomfortable. Not knocking any points off the boot though, cause i can just adjust the way i lace them and maybe i wont have that issue anymore. Overall, for the price and quality, these boots are tough to beat in my opinion. They get the job done, and they seem like they will last a long time. Im happy with my purchase. I will come back and let you guys know my experience with these in Iceland! ... show more
