Hiked Shirley canyon trail to high camp without having to brake them in. I usually wear a size 10 in tennis shoes/sneakers/boots but opted for 11 since I knew I'd be wearing thick socks and have been prone to swelling after flights or in high elevation. I order up in anything with a heel or potentially narrow like running shoes or cowboy boots because I also have wide feet. I had no pain whatsoever in my feet and this was my first real hike. Shirley trail is about 5 miles to high camp and took about 3.5 hours with stops and mostly steep inclines/climbing. I am not someone who is active really by any means but don't work a desk job either and have sciatica. These shoes did not flare up my sciatica and were comfy the entire hike and then some. Didn't come across too much moisture during the hike but held their own walking across streams on some low rocks but never fully submerged or to cover top of foot so I couldn't tell you how well they'd do. 10 out of 10 for easy to moderate hikes /climbing. ... show more

I purchased a first pair (tan and red) for a trip to northern California. I had tried them in a store and was in between sizes (I'm normally an 8 1/2), but my toe felt right at the tip and I'd figured I'd want a little wiggle room for thick socks so I ordered a 9 on Amazon. They were comfortable, durable, and didn't hurt my feet even after a 6-hour hike from the Redwoods to the beach. I liked them so much I decided to get a second pair in Tan and Teel, but in my true size 8 1/2 and they worked out great too. Hiked in a ghost town and it started raining and my feet stayed dried the whole time. I'd say if you're in between sizes and don't have wide feet, get your normal size. ... show more

Narrow feet and very slim ankles size 8 horrible plantar fasciitis I have flat feet and degenerative disk disease. My sciatic nerve and low back and knees and feet kill me! These are incredible! I literally can’t go a second without arch support, I wear orthotic slippers at home (been using crocs for over a year over vionic), and these are great! I was in them without changing the in sole pads for over 6 hours with a toddler that needed to be carried and stroller wagon to push and what not, it was a breeze. I didn’t get fatigued at all in regards to my feet. They held up great and dusted right off! The only gripe or request rather I would make is that the tongue have a through for the laces, just on principle lol. Though it didn’t matter they were fine. I haven’t tested the waterproofing yet! If you are on the fence just do it! Also you can’t beat the price and the shoe is very breathable and leather. It was august at rennfest in MD opening weekend I tested them out! For reference purchased a size 6, normally a size 5.5, skinny bony feet. Reason i got half a size is due to the thick hiking socks i use. Purchased these boots to replace my vasque hiking boots. Used these boots for a 5 hour hike through the Sierras. The terrain was rough and i did have try out the waterproof feature crossing high streams. Happy to report my feet were completely dry! My feet were sore by the end of the hike, but to the boots defense, it had been 6 years since my last hard hike. No blisters, no need for inserts. Very happy with these boots. ... show more

I absolutely LOVE these boots! Such a great price for good quality boots. I took these on a 3 day backpacking trip and they were super comfortable considering that fact I didn’t spend anytime breaking them in before. I was originally going to just do the trip in trail runners or sneakers but I’m so glad I bought these instead. The trail was super flooded and these boots kept my feet bone dry. While everyone else was miserable, jumping over streams and flooding their shoes… I was able to walk right through the water and not get wet at all. The color is also so great. I love these boots. I use them to go hiking in the Carolinas, and in Georgia. I also use them in the Florida sawgrass. And they work great. They do not hurt my feet afterwards and they keep everything out of my feet. I would suggest that you tuck in the laces as they can get caught in the hooks. This shoe is very cute. I got a pair for when we go hiking. I needed something lightweight and I feel these are lightweight enough to give me the support I need but not feel like it’s weighing me down when walking. To make them better : wear higher ankle socks, I wore low cut ones and the higher design of the shoe rubbed my ankle raw. When I wear higher ones it doesn’t bother me at all. I wore these for the first time on an easy hike recently, and they seemed comfortable and sturdy on the small inclines and over tree roots. I haven't tested them on longer trails yet, but I have a feeling they will hold up nicely!
