🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

These boots have received glowing reviews from hikers, festival-goers, horseback riders, and the like. They were praised for their comfort, waterproof feature, sturdy grip, and their unique color choices. Break-in periods were quick and painless, with many users finding these boots so comfortable they eased pain from existing issues, like a weak ankle or ingrown toenails. However, some users reported that these boots aren't as breathable as they'd prefer for warmer months, and one was dissatisfied with a perceived discrepancy between the name and the actual color of the boots ordered.

Pros

  • 👣 Provides excellent support for weak ankles and are comfortable.
  • 🏞️ Sturdy grip, excellent for hiking.
  • 🌦️ Waterproof feature keeps feet dry under wet conditions.
  • 🎨 Available in a variety of unique color choices.

Cons

  • 🔥 Lack of breathability for warmer months.
  • 🎨 Misleading color name that doesn't match the actual color of the boots.
  • 🧦 Might run a bit small and require a larger size for thick socks comfort.

Should I Buy It?

If you are looking for a comfortable, sturdy and waterproof pair of hiking boots that excel in functionality, these hiking boots might be for you. With minor caveats such as a need for accurate color representations and improved breathability, the positives far outweigh the negatives, making it a recommended buy.

  • Elevate Your Hiking Experience: Columbia Women's Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot
Color: Stratus, Canyon Rose Size: 9 Wide
The Columbia Women's Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot is a game-changer for outdoor enthusiasts seeking comfort, durability, and performance on the trails. As an avid hiker who values quality footwear, I've found these boots to be a reliable companion for tackling a variety of terrain in all types of weather conditions. First and foremost, let's talk about durability. Constructed with high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship, the Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot is built to withstand the rigors of hiking and outdoor adventure. The combination of suede leather, mesh, and synthetic materials offers both durability and breathability, ensuring long-lasting performance on the trails. One of the standout features of these hiking boots is their waterproof construction. Equipped with Columbia's Omni-Tech waterproof membrane, they provide superior protection against rain, mud, and puddles, keeping your feet dry and comfortable even in the wettest conditions. Whether crossing streams, navigating muddy trails, or hiking in drizzly weather, these boots offer reliable waterproofing that inspires confidence with every step. In terms of comfort, the Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot excels. The cushioned midsole and supportive footbed provide excellent shock absorption and arch support, reducing fatigue and discomfort during long hikes. The padded collar and tongue offer additional comfort and support, while the breathable mesh lining helps to regulate temperature and prevent overheating, keeping your feet feeling fresh and comfortable all day long. Another aspect that sets these hiking boots apart is their traction and grip. The Omni-Grip non-marking rubber outsole features multidirectional lugs that provide exceptional traction on a variety of surfaces, including rocky terrain, slippery slopes, and loose gravel. Whether ascending steep inclines or descending rugged descents, these boots offer reliable grip and stability, allowing you to navigate with confidence and precision. Additionally, the lace-up closure allows for a customizable fit, ensuring a secure and comfortable feel every time you lace up. While the Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot offers exceptional performance and quality, there are a few minor considerations to keep in mind. Some users may find that the boots run slightly large, so it's recommended to size down for the best fit. Additionally, the break-in period may take some time, especially for those with sensitive feet, but the comfort and performance are well worth the initial adjustment period. • My second pair of Columbia's for hiking
Color: Cedar, Nightwave Size: 8.5
I bought my first pair of Columbia's a year ago (crestwood) and loved them. I wanted a little lighter hiking boot in weight, so decided to try the Newton Ridge. As I put them on, it's a dream because they open so wide and easy with all the metal grommets for lacing. Taking on and off is a breeze. They felt great right out of the box. I'll wear around the house to break in, but I doubt they need it. I did replace the footpad with a foam pad (as I do all my footwear). Makes for a cushioned and comfy hike. I've tried on tons of hiking boots, the Columbia's are the best at gripping and just feel so wonderful. None of the others could compare. The tongue is also very soft with lots of cushioning around the ankle. I have very thin ankles and these just hug them great. I also love the orange color!! The boots will last forever, but I like to change them out yearly just for a new something or other and see how the grip and feel is. These are keepers. Price is fantastic too for the color I picked. Can't beat it so it's nice to try different versions of Columbia's each year or two. Fully waterproof as well. Great lugs on the bottom. ... show more

  • Super Comfy and Supportive! Glad I bought these!!
Color: Shark, River Blue Size: 8 Wide
This boot felt great right away! No break-in time needed at all. My feet have been picky lately, so I was cautiously optimistic. These boots run true to size, lots of room in the toe box, but my feet do not slide around. Immediately comfortable around the ankles as well. These boots also come in a lot of different colors, and they look great. Seriously considering being a little impulsive and buying a second pair! ... show more

  • Overall, Gravy!
Color: Elk, Mountain Red Size: 8
Updating again because I'm awesome :-)- Well obviously I love these, but even to this day they look new. No busted seams, cracks or anything. I've upgraded my laces to elastic boot laces so I can easily slide these on without having to tie any laces, for those moments while you're camping and in the middle of the night when you gotta get up and go outside. Easy least, I love them. UPDATE#2!!!- Okay y’all so just for fun i’m giving you another update on these beauties. this summer i was a Rec Leader at an outdoor nature-centric Summer Camp. The park is a protected natural preserve and everyday i was walking at least 2 miles a day through wet grass, muddy slippery rocky trails, heavy rain, dirt/dust, climbing in & out of sinkholes of limestone rock, getting splashed on by kids in the pool, etc. i wore these EVERYDAY this summer because i was not about to ruin my sneakers for the job, summer is rainy season here and it gets SO HOT so i knew it just made sense to wear these. They help up fantastic. They still look new- nothing is loose or cracked whatsoever. they’re nice and tight and crisp, albeit a little dirty :)) just wanted to let you know how they held up with everyday wear and tear bc i definitely tested them this summer. and they remain strong :). I’m going to Tennessee in a few weeks and these will again be the only shoes i bring :) you just can’t go wrong. these are my go-to shoes for moments where regular sneakers just won’t cut it. still 1000% recommend. love these so much UPDATE!- so I’ve come and gone to Iceland with these babies as my ONLY shoes for the trip- a week full of hiking, exploring and campervan-ing. They did not disappoint! The slight concern on my first post was definitely my own problem, lacing them all the way or halfway never gave me any tongue-chafing again. I LOVE the lace hooks from the ankle up- it made taking the shoes off and on in airports a total breeze. I was in freezing temps, wore with some cheap wool socks, my feet were always warm. Lightweight you can run with no problems but sturdy to where you still feel supported. It rained many times while I wore them, I even had to step into a little river to cross and continue a hiking trail- the boots were submerged to where the icy water was halfway up foot level but my feet were completely dry, (I even stayed there a few extra seconds to test the shoe’s power) the outside of the shoe barely looked wet and dried shortly after that as if it never happened. Wonderful shoes- again for the price you just can’t beat them. Would highly recommend and purchase again in a heartbeat! ORIGINAL- These are so nice! I needed a pair of waterproof hiking boots for my upcoming Iceland trip in October, and boy am i impressed. Right off the bat they are super comfy and sturdy but still lightweight- (nothing like my Dr. marten boots i own that are stylish, but feel like bricks.) great grip on the bottoms, nice height too- not too tall where they chafe your ankles but not too low where they still support your ankles. Love the colors too- the red laces add a nice touch of color and the camel color is beautiful. Very well made, great quality, suede is nice and soft, no loose stitching or anything like that-these look built to last. So far ive only worn them out once to a local nature trail through the woods, and it rained a bit while i was out. (usually i wear sneakers on that trail and wobble over the roots and rocks)- but with these, i felt so secure as i walked, they were very comfortable to wear, and even after the mud and rain- They looked new straight of of the box. I'm guessing its the way its designed, but bottom of the boot did a really good job at keeping the debris Under the shoe rather than All Over it. My only complaint, and this could by my own issue and not the shoe's, is that while i wore them, i laced them up all the way. I don't know if this is how you're supposed to wear these, because the lace hoops really only come up to the top of your ankle, where your foot bends- and above that, there arent holes fr the laces but hooks that you can use to close up the boot more securely i'm guessing.- But when i did this, i did feel some discomfort on one of my feet from the inner ankle area where the laces felt too tight and were making the tongue of the boot kinda rub and press on my foot/ankle. It wasn't unbearable, but uncomfortable. Not knocking any points off the boot though, cause i can just adjust the way i lace them and maybe i wont have that issue anymore. Overall, for the price and quality, these boots are tough to beat in my opinion. They get the job done, and they seem like they will last a long time. Im happy with my purchase. I will come back and let you guys know my experience with these in Iceland! ... show more

  • Rubs back of leg, blister
Color: Timber, Cinder Size: 7
Very comfortable and breathable . However, back of shoe rubs on back of lower calf causing blisters. Hopefully this will resolve when broken in
