I have been a devout Merrell boot buyer for well over a decade. All that has ended. They first discontinued by favorite boot, replaced it with one one similar, and what used to last me two years now costs more and doesn't last 6 months. Next was a comparable pair of Wolverines, no arch support in them what so ever, and given my high arch, they went back immediately. I was never really familiar with Columbia products up until Xmas a year ago when my sister bought me one of their soft shell jackets. Loved that thing. Well the zipper failed on it this past fall and I contacted columbia. They gave me full price credit on the jacket for their website. FOund them on sale, and replaced the one jacket with two!. Given my boot situation I decided to order these from Columbia and see how their footwear stacks up since they obviously stand behind their product. Just got them today (ordered yesterday, thanks Amazon Prime). Unboxed them and everything looks great. Nice grippy material on the sole, stitching looks good, color is as expected. Not quite as much arch support as I'd hoped for, but at leas there's some. One thing I always appreciated about Merrell is I could take off a two yr old pair of their boots, put a brand new pair on, and hardly be able to tell a difference. They just fit well out of the box. Not saying that is the case with these from Columbia, but I don't think break-in will be a big deal. They are comfortable out of the box. Sizing is good, I ordered a 10.5 and they fit good. Lace hoops and catches are metal, not plastic. And they are pretty light for an ankle top hiking boot. I'll be wearing these daily for work, and while I don't abuse my boots, I am a trade worker so they'll see some beating. I'll wear them when working on the property on weekends cutting and clearing brush, bouncing around on the tractor, just general work. I'll wear them hunting in mild weather, and fishing as well. These boots will get tested for a while and I'll update as things progress. Should they fail we'll test Columbia's dedication to their product again, my last experience with them in that was great. First of all I must mention those are my first columbia shoes. Size wise - I wear mostly new balance 11.5 2E (wide) M990v4 shoes among other shoes/boots, So I choose 11.5 Wide, And those seems tighter than usual (even compared to non-wide shoes). They also feel like size 12 in length, So not that comfortable upon 1st impression. After wearing them for several hours, My feet got a bit adapted to them and they feel ok. I think I can wear them for few hours without any problems. They are relatively light weighted, But they seems built good enough to last few years as main walking gear for winter. Another thing : You can't take out the built in inner sole, So take it into consideration while choosing the shoe size. ... show more

I've been wearing these for a few years now as work boots. About 5 years ago my feet would get to hurting so bad towards the end of the work day, I could hardly walk, after trying different shoes/boots I came across these, but I learned to order them a half size large so I can add gel insoles. I also replace the laces with Ironlace unbreakable shoe laces which have lasted me about 4 years now. ... show more

I wore these boots for the first time today on a 6 mile hike and am blown away by how comfortable they are. The trail had a lot of large rocks and boulders and these boots stuck like glue going up and down them. Also, my feet stayed cool and dry which surprised me being due to them being leather. I crossed several creeks, but didn’t submerge them, so I’m not sure yet how waterproof they are. I highly recommend these boots. ... show more

These were exactly what my son needed & I learned a long time ago, you get what you pay for. However in this case, I think I got a steal! I bought these for my 12 year old to go camping/hiking and he put them to the test. It rained all night so it was very wet and muddy when they went on their hike. When he came back home, they didn’t look quite as pretty, but that’s not Columbia’s fault. Underneath all the dried mud, they still looked and performed the same. My son told me his feet stayed dry even though he walked through mud puddles that everyone else was walking/jumping around (of course he walked through them. He’s 12). So even though I feel like I skimped on his sleeping bag, I was very grateful I purchased these for his feet. I was also incredibly shocked I found them on sale for 75$. One of the best parts of making this purchase is he’ll eventually grow out of them, but I highly suspect they’re durable enough that I’ll be able to keep them for myself. I’m certain they’ll need a good clean up, but I really believe they’ll hold up. :) ... show more

Ordinarily I would wait for a bit to write a review for clothes or shoes, allowing myself time to acclimate to make an unbiased observation. I wore these shoes one day and EVERYONE loves their look and they feel sooooooooooooo great on my feet. I generally wear a 9.5 wide, but I knew these being for snow (for me), that I would probably be wearing thick socks from time to time. The fit is perfect, I could wear these daily if they went with everything, and the price for Columbia's is fair. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this model. Good Luck with your purchase. The delivery person said the package was handed directly to a resident which was not so. The package was left at the door. Not a problem with that but don’t write that it was handed directly to a resident when that not true. However, I love the shoes. They fit a little big so I have 2 insoles in them. These boots are absolutely awesome to wear! They fit fantastically right out of the box with no need to break them in to fit your feet! They look fantastic and are very light, not heavy and bulky like a lot of work/hiking boots! They are also extremely durable and will last a long time if you clean them regularly and put a waterproof on them like a mink oil rub every 6 months or so!!! These sell for upwards of $100.00 in stores but you can order them from Amazon for $65 to $75.00!!! ... show more
