Getting a PFG Bahama shirt when you turn forty feels like a rite of passage, and one I was a little wary of. I'm happy to report my fears were unfounded; this is an absolute lifesaver in the summer. UPF fabric is great to protect your skin from sun damage, but the tightness of the weave also makes it less breathable and prone to overheating. Columbia has done a great job of circumventing that issue by venting the holy heck out of this shirt. The UPF shell of the shirt is actually a bunch of interconnecting panels, backed with breathable mesh, that gives you the best of both worlds - great sun protection, and it stays cool even when it's insanely hot outside. It helps that it's stylish enough to wear to most offices and restaurants, and has a bunch of integrated features that make it work for anglers, too. These are a terrific affordable option for a durable work shirt that looks nice enough to wear out. He works outside in them and they consistently wash up still looking fresh. It's nice that you don't have to iron any wrinkles out of them. We just hang them up to dry. Plenty of pockets and the 4x provides him (he is 6'5" and 24" shoulder to shoulder) with enough room work without being restricted ... show more

Runs large, I had to have mine taken in. The type of nylon isn't the ultra lightweight stuff - and it has a bit of texture, not too much to chafe though. Overall happy with it - would prefer the thinner, smoother nylon for Thailand humidity, but that said - this will take more of a beating than some of my Ex Officio utralight nylon shirts. Relatively lightweight but heavy duty - and runs large. A shame Columbia has such wide ranging fits for a size, seems quite extreme. Their Camp SLack shirt for example was true to an XL for me. ... show more
