I have been wearing this general sort of hat for awhile because I'm an albino and I really need to keep the sun off of me. What's a little annoying is that they're all "one size" and you never know until you get it home whether it's going to fit or not. I had one from REI which was not adjustable that honestly was too big. I got a Rothco hat which was honestly too small. This one is just barely big enough (but has an adjustment if you needed kind of more the Rothco size.) This general style of "boone hat" sort of thing has the disadvantage of looking a bit "military" when it comes in a color like tan or khaki, and with the REI hat people who didn't know me referred to me (they thought out of my hearing as "Mr. Military" … didn't like that (or their tone) much. But this one is a nice blue, so that addresses that concern—it looks more like a fisherman's hat or something. Or … one for someone trying to keep your head out of the sun, which is what it is, and it looks good doing its job. It's a good price for what it is and pretty light. It's going to survive a trip through the wash which is important because this is definitely a summer hat. ... show more

I have been using a regular ball cap everytime i work on our yard but they dont protect my neck against the sun. Finally gave in and bought one of these and it helps a lot. The adjustable straps are good and lives up to the one size fits all advertisement. Its lightweight which is great and easily washable. Wicks sweat decently but not amazing. The vents are a good touch but they dont offer that much cooling effect. For the price, this is worth it as it protects my neck while doing yard work. Will most likely bring this on hikes and camping as well. ... show more

The hat is comfortable and keeps the sun off my face and neck during high altitude hikes. The top is light enough to let air through, and the brim is sturdy enough not to fall in my face. The strap keeps it on my head in the wind. I like the red rocks color. I wish this hat had snaps so I could pin up the sides sometimes. My old hat (that I lost at Yellowstone) had that feature and I really liked it. I may take this one to a tailor to have them added. ... show more

This hat is great! I was outside in 100 degree heat for 5 hours and my face/neck didn’t get fried. This hat is VERY breathable, my head never got hot, and the design is nice, too. I like that it is washable (I put it on gentle cycle in a garment bag). I was able to use the strap to secure it when it got a little windy and when I was more active. The color is a light, muted yellow IMO, but definitely yellow. I like the idea of being more visible in the woods, so it’s exactly what I wanted. ... show more
