I bought a Coastal collar for my first dog and loved it because of the metal buckle and quality material. It lasted her until it was filthy and I bought another newer one for both her and our new dog. The metal seems much cheaper and both look like they dragged the collar through gravel after routine wear. Disappointing but otherwise a nice product ... show more

The seller was Martha's Pet Place. I got this for my 6.5 pound Chihuahua. He previously had a small collar with a small black plastic buckle, which he outgrew. My dog tugs a lot when we go for walks (mostly at the start of the walk, since he is so excited). I did not want to buy a collar with a plastic buckle, because I know that water and sun will eventually weaken the plastic (and I don't want it to break accidentally). So, I went looking for a collar with a metal buckle, and they are not easy to find! This collar is wonderful. It looks good, and fits great. The nylon part of the collar is 5/8" wide, about 2 mm thick, and rugged. The metal buckle is about 3/4" wide and 1.5" long (the length is measured from the tip of one end to the tip of the other end; it really doesn't look that big, because the nylon collar loops through each end; the visible part of the buckle is about 7/8"). The buckle catch mechanism works smoothly. For my dog, I have the collar adjusted/tightened about 2/3's of the way (when I remove it from my dog and measure it as adjusted for my dog, it is 10.5 inches long); so, if I wanted to make it smaller, I still have 1/3 of the collar left (and if I wanted to make it larger, there is 2/3's left); so, there is plenty of room to adjust it in the future (making it smaller or larger). I attached his tags to the nylon part of the collar using a small key ring (I didn't want to attach it to the D-ring----left that for the leash only). The D-ring to attach the leash is metal, and the buckle used to adjust the collar is metal. There is one plastic part on the collar (a piece that helps take-up the slack; if it were to break, it would not matter). Very well done. PS: I don't understand the collar dimensions given in the "product features" and "product details" of this Amazon listing. Since the collar is adjustable, it could be made to be much longer than 11 inches. The width of 1.5 inches just does not make sense to me. This is a practical little collar. The metal release is easier to work than the stiffer plastic ones, and there are nice color options, so I color-coded for multiple pups/dogs. I do wish there had been a 1" option in the smaller size collar--although lots of companies only offer 3/4" width of the smaller collar, so it's not unusual. My bigger complaint is that the little ring supplied for leash attachment is hard to find quickly if your pup isn't actually short-haired, but pretty fuzzy around the neck. There also isn't a lot of room to attach both the leash and any tags--like name tag and/or rabies tags. I have no tags attached and just attach the leash. Nevertheless, I do like the metal squeeze-catch and I use this collar for a Mini-Aussie puppy, and also keep a couple of back-ups in case I forgot to take the leash off before letting this pup play with my Australian Shepherd puppy, who chews the collars off both my Mini-Aussies if they're outside together. It's a useful little collar, despite my 2 issues with it, and I have it in 3 colors for easy use when the pups go to doggy day care for doggy socialization. I'm not fighting a thick plastic catch and the staff can work it easily enough, for removal before play and putting it back on for the pup to come home again. ... show more

Quality average. No different from many brands we have had over the years from grocery and pet stores. We only order this one for convenience which was a mistake. We ordered the size labeled as adjustable, which it was, but we received a collar labeled Large. Though adjustable it was way too large for our medium dog. Hopefully a rescue can use it. Overall not worth the price compared to what we can buy locally. ... show more
