  • One of the best!
Color: Soft Peach Pink Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
When you actually use the book the way you're supposed to it's one of the best tools I have to keep myself organized with my finances, lol. Here's what I find most valuable: 1. Finance goals - there is a short section where you can list what your goals are in the beginning of the book. Next to it there is also a section where you can detail what you need to do to meet those goals. 2. Checklist - this is great for listing out what you want or need to get done for the month. It's a short list of about 10 things so that means you have to prioritize. For each thing you get done you can check off the circle next to it. 3. THE CALENDAR 🙌🏽✅️ - I NEEDED this. Seeing exactly what I have to pay and when puts everything into perspective. *** I actually went and put the total amount I'd be spending each week in the margin space next to the calendar to keep me from buying unnecessary items. 4. Monthly budget page - Here is where you lay out everything you plan to make payments on along with the expected amount. The book neatly sections your most likely expenses into categories for you. You write what you're paying (Verizon), how much you expect to pay ($65), and then once it's paid how much the actual payment came out to be ($50). At the bottom of the section you add up all the expected amounts, then all the actual amounts, and subtract the two to get what's left over. 5. The Expense tracker - OMG I needed this part too 😭 lol. If you happen to be an impulsive spender like me this will help you prioritize. This, to me, was the most intimidating portion of the book because, 1. you have to be diligent in recording every purchase you make, online and in person, cash and card. The tracker can't help you if you don't keep up with this. And 2. the expense pages show you just how much money is flowing out in comparison to what's coming in. It's not easy to look at an issue of your own making, but the silver lining is once you see it you realize things. For me it was that I actually do have enough money to take care of all my monthly necessities, it just looked otherwise because I kept spending it on wants. and finally 6. & 7. the Saving and Debt trackers - These pages give you room to list out things you want to save for (a new tv, cheer camp, whatever 😊) and debts you owe and take on (old and new subscriptions, online store installments, etc.). For Savings you write what you're saving for (dishwasher), the amount needed ($1000), and the due date at the top. underneath this you can list each deposit, the date you made it, and an updated balance. For Debts you write the debt name (Affirm), the starting balance ($100), and the minimum payment ($15) at the top. Below this you write the amount paid, the date you paid it, and the updated balance. These are the only sections of the book I've used so far. At the end of the month there is also a Monthly Budget Review and Spending Analysis page where math is involved and being honest with yourself is necessary. All in all I love this tracker/ budget book. It's beautiful, functional, and well worth the purchase. The only thing I would change are some of the stickers that come with it. I've never liked sayings such as "live below your means" because it always felt like people were telling me to be satisfied with being poor. More stickers that promote a healthy positive attitude towards money and money management would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. Lovely product. I would definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • After 1 year, loved this book, but upgrading to Pro for more flexibility.
Color: Lavender Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
I'm on my last month & have ordered my second Clever Fox budget book, which will be the Budget planner pro. Highly recommend this or the pro version for anyone looking for a tangible budget tracking. Overall: This is great notebook for anyone starting out. The pages help get you organized, and the layout is generous enough to accommodate different money management approaches. In addition to external financial advice & quarantine, this book helped me pay off +10K in credit card debit, by seeing wasted expenses, painfully writing down charges that I could no longer remember and being able to budget for new quarantine hobbies while staying on plan. The one piece that was missing from this notebook & all of versions from Clever Fox is the lack of an investing section. Would also like to see a bigger savings section. As I finish the book, in future versions I would love to see a picture of where I started and how I ended. You can cobble the picture together with the provided layouts but would love a two-page view to show consolidated savings, cash, investments, & debit that includes where I started, how much I put in/withdrew, current balance, and write some goals and reflections. I tried multiple apps and a different planner brand before clever fox, and it did not result in any changes because of the passive engagement, limited budget layout and lack of monthly assessment and reflections. Below is more detail review. The first few pages, My Financial Goals, My Mind Map, My Strategy, My Tactics, and year at a Glance are nice to get you focused, but I honestly rarely remembered they were there or used any of them except the first two. May be more helpful for someone with a more complicated financial picture or goals. Month & Year Enjoyed the calendar section at the beginning, helped me figure out why I kept downing my account by writing down the days of known monthly expenses, scheduled savings, and income. As a result, I did request some of monthly services to change the bill date and was able to pay additional money towards my credit card debit (end of month) while also having money for rent (1st of month). After I paid off my credit card, I found the savings section to be too small and there is no section for investing. Monthly Budget Initially loved all the subcategories, it helped me change the way I was thinking about expenses and better prioritize. As I got better, the subcategories were annoying because I wasn't using a lot of them. If you are more advanced or these categories don't apply to you, I recommend the budget planner pro which has the same layout less the subcategories. Expense tracking- straight forward, no razzle dazzle but also not needed Monthly budget review + Ideas & Notes Hated the pie chart, used it once.....was more frustrating that helpful. The table under spending analysis was enough for me. Enjoyed the reflection questions and notes section, big reason I chose this notebook. After using for a year, the monthly review would be more helpful next to the budget. You already have to do a lot of page flipping to fill in the actuals, and then more to fill in the review + year summary. In the pro version the monthly budget and review are on the same two-page spread. (Clever fox Budget Book and Budget Planner are similar but have key layout differences) Savings & Debit Tracker - Prefect, especially if you have a specific goal like pay off credit card and save for a bougie birthday trip. If you don't use all of one type of the trackers and want more of the other, its super easy to repurpose the pages. Holdiay Buget, Gifts, Spending - 100% didn't use. I don't plan that far in advance, and the captured those needs on the month & year pages Regular Bill Tracker - Personally do not have a lot of standard bills, or ones that vary by amounts, so 100% didn't use. Might be helpful for someone trying to get a handle of those types of expenses. I just had a shopping addition, hence the credit card debit. Summary of the Year - forgot about these pages until the last four months. Will be using in new planner to monitor shopping expenses, membership fees, and savings goals over time. Again, a net worth page layout would be great. Would also like the top section to mirror the monthly budget review section. Since notebook is set up to exclude savings from expenses, there needs to be two separate lines for savings vs balance. If you prescribe to giving all your money a job, it is hard to see how many months you made it to zero. Check Register, Account Information, and blank pages - 100% didn't use. Personally, wouldn't write down my account information in the same book that shows how much is in those accounts.....the reasons should be obvi. The check section is only two pages....not sure what you capture here that is not your monthly expense section. Might use the blanks when I finish this last month, to write happy messages to myself. ... show more

This little budget planner is amazing! Even in the pocket size, it has everything I need to stay organized—monthly budgets, expense tracking, savings goals, and plenty of space to jot down notes. The layout is clean and easy to follow, and the size is perfect for carrying in my bag without taking up space. It has genuinely helped me stay on top of my finances. • Still a work in progress.
Color: Dark Gray Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
I purchased two of these and honestly, wish I had bought 1 for now. I feel a little bit misled. But not in a bad way. The person that set the one up that you see as you are about to purchase it. Has this set up so nice and appears to be really easy to use. So if that person could have set up mine like that? I'd probably be happy. Lol In truth you have to figure this out yourself. I was in banking for 30 years & normally just used your simple generic checkbook register and back in the day might have used Quicken or Quick books pro. And helped a lot of people set up various methods to track their spending, savings, etc... But honestly, have never really used a journal like this one. I hesitated with my stars up there because I am not sure I would call this one for beginners? But maybe that's just me. I guess what I do not feel I need in this particular budget planner are the whole page sections like My Mind Map? Seriously? I actually really did write down in mine, "It a maze, But one I am working on." Trust me I do not need a road map for what's in my head. A whole page with little sections for My Financial Goals? Really? Uh, mine are the same as they have always been. Always set aside money in savings, to have for emergencies, special trips, just to have, etc.... I also do not feel that I need pages dedicated to My strategy, My tactics, or actions I will take to cut my expenses. I guess I was looking for more of an actual ledger where I can list income, I do like the section for the monthly household expenses. Monthly budget page is nice. And I like the page in between months for notes & ideas. Because that's handy to have for various things. I feel there are to many full pages dedicated to expense tracker. I mean if you need these areas, then this might be perfect for you. I love the look and feel of it. It's a very nice size to keep track of these things. I guess overall, I would just prefer more pages to actually use as if it were like a checkbook register. I can list and see money going out and money coming in. That's really all I need to see. As for the notes section? I can list right there any areas we need to work on, cut back on expenses, etc.. It also has stickers you can use which I find really cool and a few marker ribbons so you can mark the spot or up to 3 spots you may just want to flip right to and make an entry. I would recommend it based on the things I just said and if that is what you are looking for. I guess I just didn't pay that much attention or again the person setting up the one for you to see how to use it, really did do a good job on that. Because it made it look at though it was already set up and ready to use. I do not mind customizing this to suit my needs. But I would rather have more pages dedicated to actually listing each individual expense or income vs the entire pages of what would have been sufficient if it were just a paragraph size. Like the calendar pages as well before I forget. Overall it is very nice, looks very nice, I like the strap to keep the whole book closed to prevent losing receipts, etc... much like my tablet case. Overall, again I just wish it were a little bit better. So I am not recommending you not get one, just really look through the photos better than I did. To make sure this is what you are looking for. I would recommend it. And maybe I will like it better once I set it up my way. Price was comparable to other similar items and is a really good quality book. And again worth recommending, just was looking for a little something different and thought this was the one for me. Still could be, but still, loss of a lot of pages that would have been more useful to me in other ways. I hope this helps anyone. ... show more

  • Perfect Budget Planner
Color: Soft Peach Pink Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
I decided that I needed to be a bit more organized about my finances so I did a lot of searching to find a budget planner. This planner was a reasonable price, the perfect size, and has all of the features that I was looking for, plus it’s available in a bunch of cute colors. It has a guide to help walk you through setting up your budget, though the planner is setup in a straightforward, easy-to-use manner. The first few pages help you lay out your personal goals and the steps you can take to reach them. Then it has 12 undated monthly sections, so you can start any time of year and customize as you like. It has pages to make out your budget for the month, record expenses, track income, and keep notes. At the end of each month you can track how well you kept to your budget and it has a pie chart to fill in to see which areas receive the most of your spending. At the back are sections for tracking savings and debts, setting up a holiday budget, tracking overall yearly budgeting, and more. As an added bonus, the planner has a small envelope in the back for keeping track of receipts or other small papers. I also appreciated that this planner has three ribbon bookmarks, which helps to quickly flip from section to section. The included stickers are a fun addition — they’re excellent for adding reminders to the monthly calendar sections. Some people may find this planner to be too compact for their needs, as there are a few sections I felt could use a bit more space, but I didn’t want a large, unwieldy planner taking up space on my desk. This planner is compact and has a band to keep the cover held shut which is a huge bonus, especially if you like to tuck other papers in between the pages as I do. I also appreciate that the paper is of good quality—in many areas I used pencil so I could make adjustments as needed and the paper held up well to erasers time and again. If I decide to continue using a planner next year, I will likely purchase the same planner once more. ... show more

  • Achieving My New Years Resolution of Being Better With My Finances
Color: Emerald Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
I purchased this product as part of my New Years Resolution. I wanted to be better with finances since it was not a skill that was not taught to me and I was beginning to become overwhelmed with debt. I needed something that would really make me think about how I spend my hard earned money and make goals about how I was going to achieve better spending habits. This book does exactly that. This book has categories listed for expenses each month and in the back of it a tracker for your debt, savings, and even a Christmas Budget section. I really like how this book is set up as it does not only ask you to list expenses but to think about how you can improve. This book is great for younger people that need to keep track of their finances due to their limited budget. I wish I had purchased a book like this when I first started working as it may have made me realize how much I was spending versus my actual pay check. This would be a great gift for a college student living on their own to someone who recently retired and has a set income per each week. I plan on purchasing another one next year to help me stay on the path of better financial awareness. ***Update: 11/06/2021*** It has been a few years since my initial review and decided to update it. I have purchased 4 of these books and found myself slowly getting out of the debt that I put myself into in my very early twenties. I have paid off all my credit cards, paid off one of my student loans, and currently in the process of paying off my 2020 Toyota Corolla (which should be paid off in March 2022). I do not believe I would have been able to achieve these accomplishments if I did not use these books as they truly opened my eyes to see how much I was spending vs what I was actually making. I find myself being much more thrifty and waiting a week to buy things to see if I truly need/want it. Once I pay off my car, I will have paid off over $37,000 of debt in 4 years (with working 2 jobs and utilizing coupons and savings to the fullest) and have no debt on my credit cards. I will continue to buy these books as they have helped me get the financial control I needed. These books do truly work but it requires diligence and putting down every single dollar spent and earned. Whenever friends and coworkers ask me about how to get a better control over their financial habits, I recommend them to this book and tell them that they will not be disappointed if they put in the work for financial wellbeing. ... show more

Color: Aquamarine Size: A5 (5.8'' x 8.3'')
i am a big fan of Clever Fox budgeting books. I've used them for years. I'm getting ready to retire, so I ordered the monthly version rather than the bi-weekly one I've always used. The print on the pages is so light that I am struggling to see it. I'm wondering if I got a "dud" or if this is normal. I'm considering ordering a different one to see if it's the standard or if the one I got is defective. ... show more
