Heavy Duty, lots of pockets, and solid quality!
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
I have lots of tools, and wear many "hats" at work. I might be checking out optical fiber, running network wires, installing communications equipment in a cabinet or vehicle, or doing light mechanical repairs at the top of a pole. I never know what tool I need, and because of my situation, I sometimes leave my work truck at one location while I go to another. I needed a great tool bag to help me quickly transfer my tools, and have them handy when needed. This is the perfect bag for the job. It's heavy duty- you feel that immediately. I like the 2 handles, to prevent dumping tools out if you are just grabbing it by the handles and it's unzipped. I very quickly tossed my tools in today, and found the many pockets swallowed them up without a burp. In fact, I think with re-arranging, I can put many more in...two large mouth tool bags' worth. I like the velcro loop for a cordless drill, but I probably won't be using it for that. I am very glad for the flexibility and variety of pockets they put in. The zippers feel sturdy, and the pull tabs will be handy if I'm wearing gloves. I also use a double carabiner by Nite Ize to clip the zippers together (2 on each side) when I'm moving about. I use the same trick on my hiking backpack and even for my carry-on luggage. I'm a bit leary of the tape measure clip...it's brilliantly covered with metal for longer service, but I'm concerned my tape measure will slip off in transit. I'm using it now anyway, but with a watchful eye. So far, so good. The shoulder straps are solid and soft, so I'm not concerned that one will break quickly if I simply sling this over one shoulder, and I love that there is a chest strap that clips between the two. This really IS a backpack converted to carry tools, not a tool bag with shoulder straps. It sits very comfortable on my back. I like the "kangaroo pouch" (my name, not theirs) on the front, and it was partly what tipped my decision to this bag. The adjustable clips that let it expand and open are great. I have already carried a heavy duty small extension cord coiled up and snapped one clip in the center as extra protection to hold the cord from falling out. A couple of things I would have added, or liked with this (to give it 6 stars! Lol!), would be a strap/loop for electrical tape with a lobster claw clip and metal ring to close it, and a flashlight/water bottle pouch/bag on the side (or both sides!!) Their absence doesn't detract one bit though. Interestingly enough, I had some reservations about the two padded handles before I ordered. I really like the "rubber over padded" handles I've seen on regular backpacks, (which this DOESN'T have), but I have to say the padded-only handles work fantastically with the rest of the bag. I like them. Oh, the bottom seems heavy duty, and has 4 corner "feet" consisting of plastic ridges to help reduce wear on the bottom. As a final note, loaded with lots of tools, this actually seems lighter than carrying them in tool bags by hand. Perhaps it's because the weight is at my center of mass on my back, and my legs are carrying the weight, which are much stronger than my arms. The price is around $60, but when you buy quality, you get more value than the price. And with a bit of care, this bag will easily last 10 years for me. For anyone who is a prepper, while this bag is certainly heavy duty enough, it is geared strongly towards tools. There aren't enough pockets to hold little things, in my opinion. Of course, if you're looking for a bag to store tools for the ready, this is your bag! I'll be using small pouches for tiny tools, like jeweler's screwdrivers and tossing them inside. I would certainly toss in a desiccant if you're going to store them long, to prevent rusting. And of course lightly oil any tool that needs it and wipe it nearly dry before you load and zip shut. I love this bag. If you buy it, you will too. Of course the company makes other bags in other sizes, (I have a smaller one already on the way), so size appropriately for your needs. UPDATE AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF USE: I am even happier now with this backpack. I really do love the ease of carrying this on my back. I was right about the tape measure...mine slipped off almost immediately. But if I was going to be working out of my tool bag in a single location for the day (ie, like on a roof), it would be very handy to use. I just won't use it to hold my tape measure when in transit to/from the work location. The shoulder straps are fantastic, and I don't have any fears that they will fall apart on me. Of course I'm not going to be abusive and have a tug of war on them, but they really are great quality. Solid. I have to say that I would buy this again without hesitation, and I don't think I'll ever go back to a tool box.

Good pack, great value
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
I looked at all the youtube reviews of tool backpacks, and selected this one. I am pleased with it! It holds a good quantity of remodeling tools, and I can throw it over my shoulder to make it easier to carry in/out of customers' houses. I have found that it is durable, and offers good organization options. Three things that I wish it had (but doesn't): 1) a zippered pouch for safety glasses (to protect them, and keep them handy) 2) a "holster" or external loop to hold a drill/driver 3) a few "molle-style" attachment points. Of course, no pack can be perfect for everyone, and this one is good-enough for me. I recommend you try it. If you don't like it, it can be for your secondary-tools, at this modest price.

Not a Veto bag but it works well for lighter use...organized my tools and makes them portable

This was the best solution for my need which was a container that was portable if I needed it to be but most importantly a good size to hold my recently downsized tool set. Got rid of a seven drawer mechanic's chest keeping only the tools that my slower (and older) lifestyle will now need. This bag is clearly not as rugged as some of the Veto bags but I don't need a bag to stand up to 250 workdays a year and throwing it into a pickup three, four, five times a day. I also didn't need to spend $150-$200. I just need a bag to organize and store my toolset (a carpet bag with everything throw in the bottom was not enough organization). The pockets are reasonably well thought out although some I have no idea what to put in them. The center section stands more or less on its own with tools in the pockets on both sides of it. The zippers seem OK--not the heavy duty brass zips of years ago but an above average heavy nylon zip. The cloth is rugged. Unlike some reviews, the plastic bottom was essentially flat, not warped. Loaded for me it is just over 30# and the backpack is OK with that load--wouldn't want to walk 10 miles with it but it is comfortable for short walks. Durability is unknown but it seems well-made. If it has problems in the first six to twelve months I will update the review. Bottom line: please with the purchase. It solved problem I had. Not a workhorse bag for a professional mechanic/HVAC/etc worker but it will work well for lighter use.

Love this bag

Bag is good quality with tons of compartments. I have an IT business and do a moderate amount of low-voltage work and installations. With a conventional toolbox I would have to unpack everything with my tools all over the table/work area. With this bag I unzip the sides and bam all of my tools are organized easily accessible, my low-voltage specific tools on one side and general tools on the other: Updated 5/13/2015: Bag is still going strong with no real signs of wear/tear. You can really fit so much in this bag, sometimes I think it is bottomless. It would take 2 20" toolboxes to maybe fit everything with barley a fraction of the organization. Here is a "short" list of everything it holds for me and I am not going out my way to list every individual screwdriver or connector: Back Zip compartment: 16 screw drivers/nutdrivers, 20 3/8ā sockets, 3 sets of pliers, 6" socket wrench, SAE and Metric set of Alen wrenches, Set of picks, 24 pieces of phillips/flat/square/torx bits, medium parts organizer, small parts organizer, 2 small spring loaded clamps, and a roll of electric tape. This makes a great RANGE BAG
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
I snagged this Custom Leathercraft backpack tool bag on an Amazon Lightening Deal to use as a range bag. I loaded it up with 650 rounds of ammo, 1 full size handgun, 6 high capacity magazines, 2 sets of low profile ear protection, extra sets of disposable ear protection, 4 sets of eye protection, small lube/tool range kit, flashlight, range log and various rags. I could easily fit a second handgun with additional mags, no problem. The bag is certainly rugged enough to handle the weight load of more ammo but I doubt I'd still be about to sling it on my back. It's now had a couple of trips to the range and I am extremely pleased. The material is thick and durable, the zippers are tough and the stitching is heavyweight. There is an ample amount of interior pockets so everything can be organized in its own spot. An added bonus is the row of pockets in each compartment that are the perfect size to hold individual magazines. I have noticed I could use a couple of wider pockets though so a bit of customizing by cutting the stitching in between some smaller ones should fix that. There is an elastic strap sewn into the interior flap which is great for keeping lightweight items like glasses in place at the top of the bag so they don't get crushed. The back and straps are padded which make it comfortable to carry. The bottom has a semi-rigid form (approx. 9"x11") sewn into it with rubber grips on each corner which keeps it from sitting directly on the floor. The bag sits upright nicely without flopping over and all compartment zippers can be open fully to the bottom which makes accessing everything inside very convenient. The two heavy duty loop carrying handles on the top of the bag make it easy to move the pack around when it's not slung on the back. For a quick trip to the indoor range, this is a great bag and I have no doubt it will withstand many, many years of range use. My husband had a good chuckle when it arrived and I told him of its intended use. Now that he has seen how well it functions and the practicality of my choice, he has requested one of his own. Bonus - this is a fairly anonymous looking bag and therefore does not advertise the presence of expensive firearms. Nondescript is a good thing at times.

When I first purchased this bag, I thought it was a GREAT bank-for-your-buck utility bag. There are compartments all over the place and many areas to hold small parts/tools/etc, even in zippers. This thing is truly amazing. The biggest downside to this, after owning it for about 1 year, is the main compartment (or the front area where I store the majority of my semi-light tools) is constantly falling forward. It doesn't stay open very well. I'm a piano technician and constantly reach over to my bag as I sit at the piano when I'm making adjustments on the piano. When you're battling to keep the front open, it takes away a great deal of time. This bag would easily be a 5-Star product if they installed some sort of small bracket on each side of the main bag or possibly a tripod stand of some form to keep the entire bag from falling forward. UPDATED: 11/24/19 I've changed my review to a 5 star based on the fact I've had the backpack for about 3 years and it's still strong as ever. I have many tools in it, use it nearly every day, and it's very rugged. The quality is truly amazing. I first complained about the bag not staying upright (which still can hold true) but I assume the original intent, from the creator, was not to achieve this goal. After all of these years, I'm totally fine with it. If this bag ends up dying out, I wouldn't hesitate on buying another.

It's Fantastic as a Travel Laptop Bag

I do not use the CLC 1134 Tool Backpack to hold tools as intended. I recently bought the backpack to use as a travel laptop bag. I spend 75% of my time traveling nationally and internationally and I need alot of space to hold different items (flashlight, umbrella, first aid kit, etc) . It is a great bag for traveling, it fits well in the overhead storage compartments on domestic and international carriers. I use the bag to hold all my chargers, cables, adapters for the various countries. I generally carry a Macbook Air, IPAD Air and a Kindle Fire. This bag is fantastic! It has a ton of storage, I moved the contents of my old laptop bag into the CLC 1134 and the bag swallowed everything and was only half full. I started looking for additional items to put in the bag. The bag is well constructed and will stand up well to all my traveling. The bag is also comfortable to wear. The front kangaroo pouch is great , this is where I store my laptop power cables. The front velcro pocket is great for easy access to an iphone, ear buds and a phone charger. There is an inner zippered pocket where I store all my travel documents(passports, etc). I also have room for a good first aid kit. I do not have any problems going through security. I like this bag so much going to buy another one in the event that CLC discontinues this product. It does what I need it to do!

My review probably wonāt be very helpful for someone thatās on the fence about which tool bag to buy. There are so many options, almost too many. Im an ex apt maintenance man and I wish I could have had this bag when I was going up & down three flights of stairs all day everyday. But Iām disabled now so my tools donāt do much anymore. Iāve had this bag a couple of years now and one thing is for sure, it does hold a lot of tools. I have it over packed Iām sure but I could stuff more in it. I couldnāt if I used it very much because it would be way too heavy. Thatās what I like most about it and the only thing that I donāt really like is that it has a lean to it. It doesnāt try to tip over even when I have it completely opened up. I know thatās a little weird to notice but my OCD notices weird things lol. After 2 years it doesnāt bother me anymore so Iām happy with my purchase and hope this review helps someone with their decision. Iāll upload a pic of it so you can see how it stands up fully loaded.
