  • Christmas Hit!!!
Style: 75 Pocket Tool Backpack
My kids and I got this for the hubs/dad for Christmas this year. He works in the commercial door repair business every single day and for the last 5yrs the only bag we could find that could remotely hold all the tools he needs on a daily basis was the stupid already very heavy veto pro pack xl. However their bags only have 56 pockets, a single shoulder strap or one giant handle in the center to carry it and it causes him not only physical pain carrying 75-80pds daily to multiple jobs on one shoulder or hand, caused him to have to have a second tool bag for the other half of his tools that didn’t fit in the veto bag, and caused him to have to make multiple trips to and from his work truck depending on what he needed on each job, parts, and 5ft ladder. He disliked the veto because of the weight of the bag alone, the pockets were just awkward for all his screwdrivers, wrenches, etc, he would lose smaller things like wire caps, drill bits, small screwdrivers, small allen wrenches, etc. We have been looking for something like this for the last two years and the only other bag that would hold enough and was either on wheels with a long enough handle for his 6’1 height and wasn’t going to force us to sell a kidney on the black market to be able to afford it was the new veto pro tech xl bag and no way did he want to basically pay $500 for the same exact annoying, awkward, no organization bag twice the price because gasp….it came on wheels. My husband immediately got his veto bag out of his work truck and started loading up the CLC backpack tool bag and even with multiple sets of screwdrivers, multiple sets of wrenches, files, multiple pliers, multiple allen wrenches, wire cutters, meter tester, and we were shocked that he not only couldn’t possibly fill every pocket but he also has specific pockets for his hammers, sledge hammers, and a Milwaukee impact driver m18 and he loved the little organizer that was also able to fit multiple drill bits, extensions, and the fact he also has pockets for all his concrete, countersink, fluted bits, etc and he can easily identify the ones he needs and not have to dig through a no man’s land pocket for 10mins or keep them all in the original cases separately in the truck and have to make multiple trips to and from his truck. So far he loves it and it is massively noticeably lighter with far more tools than the veto bag. I will post pics of it loaded and the weight in about a week once he is done with figuring out that even with every tool from the veto bag all have their own pockets, he gets to actually use it and can give an honest view of pros and cons, and whether it can withstand the daily use in the commercial door repair industry. I can honestly say I have been going to work with him just to get out of the house and spend quality time together and I help him on every job for the last 10yrs and I have never ever seen his tool bag organized like it is now with the CLC backpack tool bag and each tool has it’s own specific spot and he still hasn’t filled every pocket in the CLC bag. I will post pics and another review in a couple weeks so he can use it and he starts figuring out what other tools he can add to the bag, his honest pros and cons, and especially the durability of the bag in the commercial door repair industry going to multiple jobs every day and if the bag is worth the investment. ... show more

  • Heavy Duty, lots of pockets, and solid quality!
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
I have lots of tools, and wear many "hats" at work. I might be checking out optical fiber, running network wires, installing communications equipment in a cabinet or vehicle, or doing light mechanical repairs at the top of a pole. I never know what tool I need, and because of my situation, I sometimes leave my work truck at one location while I go to another. I needed a great tool bag to help me quickly transfer my tools, and have them handy when needed. This is the perfect bag for the job. It's heavy duty- you feel that immediately. I like the 2 handles, to prevent dumping tools out if you are just grabbing it by the handles and it's unzipped. I very quickly tossed my tools in today, and found the many pockets swallowed them up without a burp. In fact, I think with re-arranging, I can put many more in...two large mouth tool bags' worth. I like the velcro loop for a cordless drill, but I probably won't be using it for that. I am very glad for the flexibility and variety of pockets they put in. The zippers feel sturdy, and the pull tabs will be handy if I'm wearing gloves. I also use a double carabiner by Nite Ize to clip the zippers together (2 on each side) when I'm moving about. I use the same trick on my hiking backpack and even for my carry-on luggage. I'm a bit leary of the tape measure clip...it's brilliantly covered with metal for longer service, but I'm concerned my tape measure will slip off in transit. I'm using it now anyway, but with a watchful eye. So far, so good. The shoulder straps are solid and soft, so I'm not concerned that one will break quickly if I simply sling this over one shoulder, and I love that there is a chest strap that clips between the two. This really IS a backpack converted to carry tools, not a tool bag with shoulder straps. It sits very comfortable on my back. I like the "kangaroo pouch" (my name, not theirs) on the front, and it was partly what tipped my decision to this bag. The adjustable clips that let it expand and open are great. I have already carried a heavy duty small extension cord coiled up and snapped one clip in the center as extra protection to hold the cord from falling out. A couple of things I would have added, or liked with this (to give it 6 stars! Lol!), would be a strap/loop for electrical tape with a lobster claw clip and metal ring to close it, and a flashlight/water bottle pouch/bag on the side (or both sides!!) Their absence doesn't detract one bit though. Interestingly enough, I had some reservations about the two padded handles before I ordered. I really like the "rubber over padded" handles I've seen on regular backpacks, (which this DOESN'T have), but I have to say the padded-only handles work fantastically with the rest of the bag. I like them. Oh, the bottom seems heavy duty, and has 4 corner "feet" consisting of plastic ridges to help reduce wear on the bottom. As a final note, loaded with lots of tools, this actually seems lighter than carrying them in tool bags by hand. Perhaps it's because the weight is at my center of mass on my back, and my legs are carrying the weight, which are much stronger than my arms. The price is around $60, but when you buy quality, you get more value than the price. And with a bit of care, this bag will easily last 10 years for me. For anyone who is a prepper, while this bag is certainly heavy duty enough, it is geared strongly towards tools. There aren't enough pockets to hold little things, in my opinion. Of course, if you're looking for a bag to store tools for the ready, this is your bag! I'll be using small pouches for tiny tools, like jeweler's screwdrivers and tossing them inside. I would certainly toss in a desiccant if you're going to store them long, to prevent rusting. And of course lightly oil any tool that needs it and wipe it nearly dry before you load and zip shut. I love this bag. If you buy it, you will too. Of course the company makes other bags in other sizes, (I have a smaller one already on the way), so size appropriately for your needs. UPDATE AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF USE: I am even happier now with this backpack. I really do love the ease of carrying this on my back. I was right about the tape measure...mine slipped off almost immediately. But if I was going to be working out of my tool bag in a single location for the day (ie, like on a roof), it would be very handy to use. I just won't use it to hold my tape measure when in transit to/from the work location. The shoulder straps are fantastic, and I don't have any fears that they will fall apart on me. Of course I'm not going to be abusive and have a tug of war on them, but they really are great quality. Solid. I have to say that I would buy this again without hesitation, and I don't think I'll ever go back to a tool box. ... show more

  • Amazing storage option
Style: 44 Pocket Tool Backpack
Love this bag! This bag has a spot for everything. Its well made and after a few weeks of wear on the job site it has been a highly desireable tool bag. While it appears the bag was designed for electricians, it's perfect for tile setting in California where you might have to walk a half mile to the project. My husband, who istalls tile, loads his bag up with everything he needs to work here in California.... Rags, tape measure, trials, sponges, pencils, straight edge, safety glasses, hard hat, vest... And more. After picking one up for him, I got a few for my office as I work on electronics. Again, holds everything I need for inspections to troubleshooting trons. Only gripes... Inside the front compartment, the elastic bands don't retain their shape. After the first use where I tucked my Fluke 88 in and removed it, they were warped and puckered. This doesn't bode well for future use. Did this in all three of my teams shop bags. In the back most compartment for all the heave tools, there are elastic pen holder pockets. Well, those are seen shut at one end. Not useful to me at all. Would much rather have open loops or pockets deeper than an inch. My husband is taller than I, about 6'2", and the bag hits high on his back. This can be a pain when loaded and walking for any distance. A bit of padding there would help a lot! Still it's better than porting your tools in a bucket. As for me at 5'2" where the bag tests on my back isn't an issue at all. Although, I don't load my bad down quite as much. Great bag, highly resommended. ... show more
