The grey plastic mount cracked on the second day of use. This was discovered when the seat mounted to the clamp bucked when the boat accelerated, causing the user to fall backward. This product should only be used on kayaks or non-motorized boats; even then, I doubt its durability.

This Better Boat Clamp-On Boat Seat Swivel Clamp / Seat Clamp with Swivel Mounting Kit Bracket Bench Hardware is just what I needed for my old 12' Aluminum boat. I can now attach a cushioned boat seat to this seat clamp's swivel and finally get some "chair-like" back support. Too long bent forward, using only an old circa 1960's type square-shaped life jacket as a cushion to sit-on while trolling and maintaining a direction of steer with a 9.9 H.P. Johnson outboard motor. This Boat Seat Swivel Clamp seems very solid and well built; definitely easy to install; and, I do like the full 360 degrees rotation capability. Nice black powder-coated finish and claimed to be heavy-duty and well-greased for optimal performance. And then there's the claim: "The rubber-protected stands allow you to sit on any flat surface, expanding their usability beyond the boat." - Very nice / thank you !!
