  • A Good Dual-Monitor KVM Switch - A Few Precautions
Style: USB2 2x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
This Dual-Monitor KVM Switch works well, and the dual monitors both switch quickly between computers. There are a few precautions you should be aware of: for best results the monitors should be HDMI. I tried using DVI-HDMI converters but that didn't work well so I bought two new HDMI monitors. Also if the computers or laptops feeding the KVM switch have DisplayPort outputs, make sure you get the correct DP-HDMI adapter. These adapters come in both "Active" and "Passive" versions and the version you need depends on whether the DisplayPort on your computer is marked "DP" (use active) or "DP++" (use passive). ... show more

  • Beware of a bit misleading specs
Style: USB2 4x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
HDMI in this case means not only how ports look, but it the fact that the device actually only supports HDMI-type resolutions. Like It supports 1920x1080, but not 1920x1200, which is a standard computer resolution, by the way. The device is even called "Digital Television" at my windows-level driver. The whole user manual constitutes of one paragraph. Try to guess meaning of the phrase from that manual: "Mouse and keyboard can be used alternately between two monitors, operating two interface files respectively". And no, you can't have a separate computer connected to each monitor at the same time. It doesn't work this way. When I connected my laptop to the device the first time, it took about 10 minutes for the windows to search for, find, and install the drivers. When I disconnected laptop (to go outside of the living room) then came back and connected back again - the same procedure. 10 minutes to search, find, and install the drivers. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, I would love this device if it only worked as expected. ... show more

  • Did work OK...now doesn't work at all
Style: USB2 4x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
I purchased this product about 8 months ago and some of the things it did with the resolution required setup, that's fine. The loud beep it makes could be turned off which was great, it's really an annoying beep. After a few months it started to "randomly" disconnect my USB peripherals attached to it, I'd have to turn it completely off and back on (forcing me to re-setup my resolution on my screens) in order to get the USB devices (keyboard/mouse) to be recognized again. While that is happening, a short time later, one or both of the monitors would just turn off for a second or two and the back on. That would do that for hours if left unattended, turning it off and back on didn't always correct it. It would go away by itself...eventually, so I just put up with it. Now, the icing on the cake, the 2nd HDMI output no longer works at all. I've restated it, unplugged everything, let it sit overnight without power to make sure caps were drained. Tried cleaning it out like a 1990s Nintendo cartridge (q-tip and alcohol). Plugged it into entirely different monitors and replaced the cables with brand new cables but nothing will do. I'd classify it as broken now, even tho it still works for 1 monitor, as it's supposed to work with 2 for the price I paid. I'd give it a 0 star if I could since it's overpriced for the type of head-ache I have had with it and to eventually not work anymore. I've had old KVMs that have been working since year 2000...there is no excuse... ... show more

  • Proprietary HDMI
Style: USB2 2x2 HDMI 4K 30Hz
The switch itself works well. My only gripe is with the proprietary cables it uses. One end has an HDMI, USB, speaker, and mic connection that connects to the PC. The other end is just an HDMI that feeds into the switch. The cable is only ~5ft long. I wanted to run this cable about 8ft. So I purchased an HDMI coupler and a 3ft HDMI cable thinking it would give me the extension I needed. That didn’t work. Apparently a regular HDMI coupler/cable is not compatible between the switch and the HDMI end of the cable. So you have two options: 1. Move the PC closer to the switch (which I did) 2. Get an extension for... A. The HDMI B. The USB C. The speaker D. The mic ...connections between the PC and the proprietary cable. All in all, you can make it work. But not without individual extensions between the proprietary cable and the PC - or having the PC really close to the switch. Also, the switch kept switching between PCs as I typed. I found out that the switch uses the Ctrl key as a hot switch. I use the Ctrl key A LOT - and was causing undesired switching. It was a bit frustrating because I couldn’t find online documentation on how to fix this - and I had completely forgotten that there was a little pamphlet that came with the switch that very plainly told me how to switch the hot key from Ctrl to Scroll Lock. So that frustration was my own incompetent fault. Update: I’ve had the switch about a year and use it regularly. No other problems have arisen except the rubber feet all fell off. The adhesive used is not very strong. I could glue them back on, but I actually prefer the lower profile. So I just left them off. The metal housing of the switch can’t damage the surface I have it on. ... show more
