Fits on the small side, but perfect for my 5 year old granddaughter. Fun costume, but definitely not going to be a long lasting one. She will wear it for Halloween with the tail pinned up to the front to prevent tripping, and then have it as a play dress up costume. You get what you pay for.. this was a cheap mermaid costume. Decent quality. My granddaughter wears a size 7/8 and I ordered that size. It fit her true to size. She loved it when she got it, but was in tears having to walk the School Harvest Festival in it. It was uncomfortable for her because the length and she had to take short steps. It would be better for just playing, not as an actual costume to walk everywhere in. ... show more

Bought this for my daughter and the fit seemed a little off. Very tight around her chest and midsection but so long that needed to be pinned up so that she could walk. Also, within an hour or two of her wearing it (and she is pretty careful with her clothes) the netting attached to the wrist straps ripped off. Definitely a cute costume but only plan on being able to wear it once or twice. I was hoping that she would be able to keep it and use it as a dress up costume but it had to get thrown away after Halloween (being worn twice). However, she absolutely loved the costume and thought she was a beautiful mermaid while wearing it :-) ... show more

Ok, this isn't a high quality costume (it was only $13!), there was a run on the back part of the dress and a couple small black dots on the front (like a pen mark), but for all that it's really a beautiful costume and looks amazing on and I couldn't be happier! My daughter looks lovely in it and is thrilled. She is a tall 5 year old and wears a size 7 (she's about 48" and 50lbs) and the medium fit her perfect. The tail is long and does lie on the floor. I tucked it under at the waist and pinned it to bring it off the floor so she could wear it to school today. For just an hour or two at a party or for dress up the long tail is probably fine. The only thing I really didn't like about it though, is that it fastens in back with velcro and every time you undo it the velcro it manages to grab the thin netting of the top part of the dress. I'm pretty sure it will be filled with holes in no time. I wish it just had a tie. ... show more

This costume is adorable. Looks just like it does in the picture. But, wow, was it cheap in the worst sense of the word. My daughter never even got to wear it for Halloween. It seemed to fit well, if not a little long, but the slit up the back got a HUGE run in it. And that was just from her trying it on and wearing it for about 5 minutes. I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. It wasn't even anything I could sew b/c the material seems to be nylon-like - and again, it wasn't a tear, it was a run. It wasn't worth returning for another one b/c I could see it's just how the costume was made - cheap and poorly constructed. It's really too bad though as it is very cute. ... show more

Super cute mermaid costume for child that normally wears a size 7(we ordered the Medium 8-10). It is very fragile and the opening for the feet is narrow. She was able to walk just fine but wouldn't be running any where. It was chilly on Halloweend so she wore a long sleeved undershirt and it fit ok underneath. She is hard on costumes so I don't expect this to last long at all but I would purchase again. ... show more
