I've owned lots of chef coats in my 10+ years of cooking so I have a good idea of what I like and don't like in my work wear. This coat is much more sleek, modern and stylish than the conventional button-up chef coat, and the zip closure and snap collar make it easy to wear. The "natural" color is an off-white taupe shade that suits me well and looks much better than stark white (in my opinion), and the back and shoulders are made from a light and breathable mesh material to keep you cool while you cook. The silhouette is fitted and feminine, although a bit long in the torso for my build (5'5" and 130lb, wearing a size small). I only have two issues with this coat that keep it from earning a 5-star review from me - one is that the polyester material for the main body of the coat tends to hold onto wrinkles. I prefer to steam my coats rather than ironing them, but this one requires a little more attention than my others out of the laundry to keep it looking crisp. Thankfully it's machine washable and tumble dry is fine on low heat. My other complaint is that there's only one pocket on one sleeve, big enough to hold a sharpie and one other small item (pen, tweezers, cake tester or maybe a thermometer), but as you can see in my photo, the pocket barely has room for a basic pen-style thermometer. More pockets, or more room in the ones it has, would make this coat a lot more practical - especially if you plan to wear it without an apron over it. This is actually a really nice, modern chefs jacket! Very, very happy at how well it fits, it works well for plus-sized folks and/or large chested folks as well! Very sleek, holds tight, keeps burning splatters and water off of you, etc. I enjoy using it when I have long cooking and baking sessions, it cleans easy, too. As a regular home cook and sourdough baker, I am not a fan of aprons but in an effort to avoid splattering sauces/flour/whatever on my clothing as I cook ordered this chef coat. Pros: I like the breathable material for the sleeves and back yoke which is a bit stretchy and doesn't make me feel restricted. The zipper feels solid, and the jacket is vented on the bottom at each side for more room (yay!). It does have a neck snap, and as a home cook that's not something I will be using but if I were catering or working in a professional kitchen it does look nice. I ordered a medium (5'6" and 152); if I were to order again I might go up on the size, but it is still very comfortable and looks professional. I ordered a long sleeve coat -- same brand -- for comparison and that one is roomier even though they both are a size M. ... show more
