A Modern Day Aesop's Fable
All grandparents will want to read this heart warming story to their grandchildren! It's based on a true story with just a little added imagination where the animals take on human characteristics. Charlotte and her little brother, James, experience an adventure at the Chattanooga Zoo. Adults will enjoy reading as well as children will enjoy being read to.
Utterly captivating, both the story and the illustrations. And reading the book is only the beginning, opening the door to a world of explorations, eg. crows and their uncanny intelligence (definitely not "birdbrains" !) What a glorious way to say "Merry Christmas"

A book for adults as well as children. A must read for all.
The expression on the animals help to support a story every child and adult should read. We need more children's books with real helpful messages. Enjoy the moment always.

Excellent Story
A wonderful slice of life story with a nugget of classic story telling. A grandmother takes her “grans” to the zoo – a ritual they have done many times. Something goes awry and becomes a tool to teach a life lesson. Beautiful illustrations and additional facts about the familiar zoo inhabitants. A plus - available in Spanish.

Wonderful read and powerful life lesson on loss
Our kids absolutely love this book! The wonderful storytelling combined with the colorful pictures will delight anyone reading this book. While this book showcases many zoo animals, it also has a powerful lesson about loss and focusing on what brings joy into your life. This would be a great gift to any child who loves the zoo!

Beautiful children’s story with a lesson for us all!
What a lovely story with such an important message for us all. The illustrations are incredible and the lesson for Charlotte from Mr. Wise Owl to “stop focusing on what she doesn’t have and think of what she does have” is something for us all to practice daily.

Lovely story with important life lessons
Charlotte’s zoo visit is rich with interesting facts and characters, and is beautifully illustrated. The story helps a child begin to grapple with issues of loss. Acknowledging the grief, but with an emphasis towards coping. Useful addition to a child’s library.

Great for kids and adults
My children love the illustrations and unique zoo animals. Beyond the charm of a children’s book, a deeper message lies which people of all ages can benefit from.
