It was here on time, packaged very well so no surprises when opening.It was a breeze to assemble what had to be put together to use, wheels, handle, and make sure to take the (4) bolts from the bottom that will let the motor make use of the motor mount movement. I plan on trying to use only propane as I have a 250 gal tank that only supplies a gas fireplace in the living room. I want to keep things simple and reliable. However if I had to use regular gas it’s nice to know I have the option push come to shove. This unit will be used for the home when we have power outages. Mostly few and far between but when we have one it’s usually for several days. It’ll be plugged into a transfer switch from the main breaker panel that will operate a refrigerator, freezer, numerous lights and receptacles, the fan for propane fireplace. Using another installed transfer switch separately from previous mentioned I can run my deep well pump and hot water heater so as to get a quick shower. Well and hot water are ran on a separate circuit and will power nothing else when in use as a hot water heater demands a lot of constant wattage. Potable water will be drawn up and stored and used as needed and then refilled as needed with the water heater switched off then be plugged back into the main house transfer switch. The pump will only be needed once a day so with that said it isn’t a big deal todo the changes. It all been tried and works well.I must finish my break in period and do the oil change hopefully before hurricane season starts even in Western NC. As we experienced around this time last year and now we have Erin nipping at our heals. I still have a small generator I’ve used now for the past 25 years or so with good results powering just the basic essentials and have kept it going even using regular gas and needed additives and a lot of TLC to the engine. Im getting older and health isn’t as good as in the past so electric start and dependability is much preferred. Not wanting to spend thousands of dollars for a whole house generator to sit there to be used for possibly (2) weeks out of the year this seems to be a great alternative as my main concern is freezer and refrigerator and water and simple creature comforts. I have no desire to listen to the thing running 24 hours a day. However it is impressively quite for its horsepower. As an additional concern it’s not to be considered a light weight unit. It’s lighter than some near the same wattage bet still to heavy to grab up and go with however it is easily rolled around using the handle, and the tires are adequate for the load on a some what hard surface. I’m impressed and happy so far with it and would recommend it to anyone needing a power supply for power outages. ... show more

    • Great Value (in July 2025) - Treat It Well And Some Important Advice
Bought this at the recommendation of one of my brothers July 2025 as an Amazon Prime Days deal. I paid under 1k for this. I love that it’s trifuel. I had a friend and former neighbor familiar with commercial hvac/plumbing install a natural gas tap on the exterior of my basement wall and when I upgraded my electrical service (to 200a) and a new breaker panel, I had the electrician install a generator “direct connect” w/lock out to the panel so I can run the whole house, other than the a/c hard start (I may have a soft start kit installed at some point), and not endanger utility workers with incredibly dangerous backflow. Broke this generator engine in with conventional 10w-30 oil provided with the unit. That’s about all that oil is good for anyway. Ran it maybe 6-7 hrs on natural gas only with an under 25% load (one space heater). Drained the oil and replaced with 5w-20 full synthetic oil (about 36oz). Let a friend borrow this generator recently for a power outage and he broke it in further using ethanol free gasoline. He reports it’s running well and used about half the fuel in 6 hrs on running 2-3 large appliances (fridge/freezer & a dedicated freezer at least). It is not quiet at all, that would be the last adjective I’d use to describe this. It’s an open frame, high power generator. While I’m sure it makes less noise than a non-inverter equivalent wattage one, esp on eco mode, which is noticeably quieter than standard mode, since there’s no casing, it’s quite boisterous. If you live in closer quarters to your neighbors, and have a mutual respect, I would recommend getting/building a generator box or some type of brick/stone enclosure on a patio with an open/removable top for venting. Always run ethanol free gasoline on this, preferably from a higher quality fuel station like Exxon/Mobil, Amoco/BP, Marathon, Chevron, Shell vs lower quality like Wawa, Sheetz, Pilot, Circle K, Kangaroo etc. The better fuels use more and higher quality detergents and ethanol free gums up the carburetor much less and is much less corrosive to smaller engines, hoses, and parts. And always run your gasoline all the way out when running this because gasoline of any kind just sitting in a tank and esp the carb for extended periods is terrible for longevity. Keep your oil changes to under 100 hrs run time and always full synthetic, weight isn’t that important but full syn will perform much better in all climate conditions and lubricate the engine better. I plan to change the stock very low quality spark plug to an NGK after this use. Also, I should’ve kept the battery (for push start) on a trickle charger. I am fixing that shortly too. Push start works great (when battery is charged) and love that this includes the propane and natural gas hoses for hookup, assembly was fairly easy. It does not include a large properly rated generator electrical cable, you will need to buy that if hooking up to your panel and not cheap but one time purchase on Amazon. It is and will never be Honda engine quality or noise level but if I maintain it well, at maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a similarly priced Honda generator, this is a no brainer if it gives me several years of reliable backup power. Plus, at only 165 lbs, very easily moveable for one able bodied person on flat ground, two can pick it up to move it around. ... show more

Nice machine, but I won't really know until the next storm or hurricane hits. I bought it right after hurricane Helene and I wanted a tri-fuel models because I already have a NG valve on my deck and that way I don't have to fuss with adding gas or changing the propane tank. So I tested it with both NG and propane it it fired right up. It's inverter based so the engine only runs as fast (and loud) as is needed for the load. It's not small but not really huge either. I have it connected to a battery tender to keep the battery charged for the electric starter which is a great feature. ... show more

    • Choke
Don't be fooled like me with the choke. It's not which side the choke symbol is displayed. It's where the arrow next to the choke symbol is pointing. Counter intuitive if you ask me. Also, support not so good, unless you want to wait on hold for an hour and 20 minutes. I opted to email support and got a reply in two days. They sent me a new unneeded regulator instead of checking that I was using the choke correctly. So, it's up and running now. I have it wired into my home electric panel and everything seems to be working great. Running several appliances. The only issue I have now is that it's not showing me a display for power usage like it should. It's only cycling through volts, herts, run time and overall run time. I have no idea how many more things I can turn on without overloading the system. I have an email out for that too. Maybe I will get an answer in a few days. Purchased this in July 2024 in preparation for Florida's hurricane season, and had to put it into action in October after Hurricane Milton tore through the state. I connected this generator to my breaker panel through a generator interlock connection, and connected it to my home's natural gas lines. We just had power restored this morning after 110 straight hours without, and this with this Champion generator connected to my house we almost couldn't tell that the power was out. We ran our central A/C, kitchen refrigerator, garage refrigerator, an under-counter beverage fridge, plus all of our lights, outlets, tv's, ceiling fans, bathroom exhaust fans, etc... We were careful to wait until the A/C had cycled off before also running the microwave, and we didn't use the oven at all, though I think we could have if we'd turned the A/C off first. We were able to run the clothes washer and gas dryer, as well as the dishwasher, though we did turn off the heated dry function. I didn't think it would, but it actually ran my 5-ton central A/C unit without trouble. It is a variable-speed A/C system, which I think is the only reason it ran. With the A/C on stage 5 (as high as it goes) the generator display showed that it was at 80% capacity. Fortunately, the a/c didn't stay there much, and mostly bounced between stage 1-3 to maintain the house at a pleasant 75 degrees. On stage 3, the generator was at 60% capacity. Again, that was while also running 3 refrigerators, random lights, televisions, modem, routers, phone chargers, etc... Most A/C systems would probably require a soft start installed first. I did follow the break-in instructions and ran it below 50% load for the first 5 hours and then changed the oil. I changed the oil again at around the 80 hour mark. All-in-all, this thing was fantastic for the 110 hours we went without power. The ability to run on Natural Gas was really a game changer. Gasoline was nearly impossible to obtain in our area during the power outage, with HUGE lines at gas stations and fights breaking out between frustrated and stressed people trying to get gas. I was quite happy to sit at home not needing to journey out every day in search of fuel like everyone else around town. I am truly happy with my purchase and was very grateful to have it these past few days. ... show more

    • Great Setup for Outages and Quiet Too
Got this to be ready for the next hurricane or power outage, and so far I’m really happy with it. Setup was easy right out of the box and everything worked as expected. One of my favorite things about it is that it’s tri-fuel. I’m currently only using gas and propane, but having the option to hook up natural gas down the road is a big plus. It adds flexibility for future upgrades without needing a different unit. It’s also an inverter generator, which means it puts out clean power(pure sine wave) that’s safe for sensitive electronics. That was really important for me since I’ll be running everything from a fridge to computer gear. I also added a soft start to my house AC and tested it with this generator. It handled it with no problem so that was a big win. Compared to my old generator, this one is so much quieter. It’s a huge improvement when you’re running it for long stretches or overnight.     • A good solid generator that is fuel efficient.
This is the 4th Champion generator I have owned. I have only owned one other brand, so not a lot to compare to. I also do not use generators a lot so I don't know how durable they are. After hurricane Helene came through last year, I was without power for 7 days and ran generators 24/7. I have a generator that is similar in output to this one, but it is not an inverter generator. SO when using it, it went through a tank of propane in 3-4 hrs and it was not under full load. This generator running on Eco Mode went 7-8 hrs on a tank of propane running my pool pump constantly. SO I am very please with the fuel economy of this. The size is very compact for a generator of this output and relatively quiet. It was easy to set up and I like the quick detach hose, although the fitting seems to be proprietary to Champion, so I hope it doesn't mess up. It came with a 15 or 20 foot hose to use with natural gas which I am able to hook up to my large house propane tank so there is another plus. It will run my pool pump and well pump in Eco mode which on the meter is represented by 25% output; however, when I turn on my 50 gallon water heater AND run the pool the output jumps to 75% and the RPMs of the motor increase significantly. This was not purchased to replace a broken generator, it was purchased as an upgrade. My previous Champion generators are running fine at 5-7 years old.
