I used to be friends with a couple that were antique dealers. They, themselves, decorated and liked "primitives." So, I'm familiar with that style, and these cups are of the primitive style: Rustic, minimally finished, etc. Seller could even use "primitive" in title, and it wouldn't be out out place at all. I like them and the colors/textures match my kitchen. My friends would love them! :) LOL The price was excellent, and (as I praised in the seller review) the shipping was amazing, right down to double boxing and custom cut foam to protect them for shipment. They are smallish cups, and held tea nicely today, but they are more art than cups. They would be pretty used as little planters, candle holders, or unique candy dishes. I like them. I do not care for the texture, it feels gritty. I do not like that the rough texture is on the interior of the cups. Textural surfaces are usually hard to clean, but to my surprise, the interior surfaces in these clean more easily with just a rinse than the smaller glass cups I got these to replace! Since these are supposed to be handmade, I was concerned they may have lead in some of the materials, so I tested it. They passed, no lead detected. They handle microwave quite well and they clean surprisingly easily. I like them far more than I thought I would before I actually tried them. ... show more

I'm very happy with the quality and art the mugs have. I wanted to get nice mugs for java and tea. The mugs are very nice and have a great design to them and they are just the right size. I love the art design of the blue and beige mixed with the other colors. Even better is that these feel like they are made of good quality material and will last a long time. Overall I am impressed with the art design and quality material and will definitely get more mugs from the same company again. The packaging on these cups was impressive! They were totally encased in a styrofoam type block which was a perfect (tight) fit for their box. Pretty Amazing. Besides that - the cups are just beautiful. I'm still undecided if we will actually use them or display them as art :-) Note: I am confused about whether they are dishwasher safe or not - I personally will hand wash regardless but probably need to check that carefully if you are a diehard dishwasher person. ... show more

Very charming and rustic to the extreme. I like them for their esthetics in their faded denim, old barn weathered design. Not for everyone as the tactile feel resembles holding an old red clay outdoor pot. Washes well in the dishwasher as the flat bottom sheds the pesky drops left behind in traditional coffee mugs with the ridged ring base. Flat bottom also works well for coffee cup electric warmers that keep beverages heated during long intervals between sips. We really like these! For me, they honestly make me think of coffee mugs I might expect to see in a Lord Of The Rings movie or something of that sort. I will say that some people may dislike the feeling and, indeed, I do have to wonder why they could not have achieved the same look with a finish that felt better on the hands and lips... but it sincerely doesn't bother me or my wife... it's just different, but not necessarily in a bad way. Overall, we are very happy with them and have been using them to drink our coffee out of on a daily basis. Recommended, but with a caution to those who have issued with odd textures. ... show more

    • ⭐⭐⭐ Rustic Look Not for Everyone, Mismatched Sizing

I ordered the Coffee Mugs for Men & Women set in Beige and Red, thinking it would be nice for my husband and me to share morning coffee. While the mugs arrived very securely packaged in a nice box suitable for gifting, I was disappointed in the actual product. The "rustic" finish on these ceramic mugs looks more like a factory defect to me as if some key finishing step was skipped. Rather than an elegant, "perfectly imperfect" handcrafted look, the glaze appears uneven, and the overall appearance seems like factory seconds or rejects. I understand some people appreciate this rustic aesthetic, but it's just not for me. Another issue is that the red mug is noticeably smaller than the beige one. For a set of couples' mugs, I expected them to be the same size. The 10 oz capacity listed seems to only apply to the larger beige mug. While these mugs are still functional for hot cocoa, coffee, and tea, the mismatched sizing and unappealing finish mean I won't give them as a gift. I'd recommend them only for those who like the unique rustic look and are okay with the size discrepancy between the two mugs.
