2011's Catherine was an awesomely interesting game that was part puzzle game, part Persona-esque narrative exploration into the pitfalls of stagnant, long-term relationships, and the temptation to be with others that comes from that. Catherine also happened to also be one of my first forays into the Persona universe (remember, Vincent made a cameo in Person 3 Portable) and left a rather large impression on me during the 7th generation of consoles given how unique the game was. Catherine: Full Body is a refinement to the original title in the same manner that Persona 3: FES, P3P, Persona 4: Golden and Persona 5: Royal all iterated upon their original versions. Akin to those Persona titles, Full Body adds a character to the original Catherine, new additional music, revisions upon gameplay modes, new gameplay modes, and an online feature. It's a great revision to the original and definitely recommended. I do have one gripe though, in that the new animated cutscenes in the game do not appear to be as high quality, animation-wise, as the original. My understanding is that a different studio provided the new animated scenes, from what I recall reading. That said, that should be no surprise given that this release is eight years apart from the original. A much larger gap in iterations compared to Persona, which the studio responsible for Catherine also developed. I have both the PS4 and Switch versions of Full Body, while I haven't played the PS4 version (backlog for over a year) I am playing through the Switch version and its visually fidelity seems on par, if not beyond the PS3 original. Also, all of the PS4 DLC is present right out of the box for Switch. No matter the version, I very much recommend Catherine: Full Body (or the original Catherine). Great game and very unique, something utterly special in today's gaming landscape, even years after the original. ... show more

Catherine is a story game about a guy who is stuck in a love triangle situation. His nightmares/dreams- are the puzzle portion. You navigate some pretty tough puzzles and try to make it out alive to progress the story. Cast is good, visuals are good, the ladies are good, and the puzzles are ok and repetitive. Overall decent game but only for those who want a story heavy plot with mediocre gameplay. ... show more

The switch port is just as good as all the other systems it's been ported too. Runs at a constant smooth 30fps. No glitches. Audio is great. Visuals are awesome. Overall its a very good port no complaints. The games story is wonderfully acted out with excellent voice acting, though the addition of Rin kind of feels forced into the story. It felt weird at times because Rins story didn't feel like it meshed enough with the other two girls, but alas it was still a very entertaining story. Gameplay may turn off some people since its a puzzle game, and to make matters worse you're under pressure with the floor below you constantly reminding you of your impending doom, which if you're not a quick thinker you may find yourself having to restart over and over possibly frustrating you to the point where you may look up a walkthrough (I wouldn't blame you). The game is very abstract with themes of religion and making you question what would you do if you were in Vincents shoes. I personally have been in a similar moral dilemma and this game really made me question myself. Overall I love this game. I would recommend to add this to your collection. ... show more

I hadn't played Catherine since the days of the PS3. So when I saw the full body edition here and I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, I took the plunge. I forgot how engrossing this game really is. There's plenty here, and definitely will keep you coming back. The story is excellent, and definitely worth a purchase. Just don't get it for your kids. This game is SO MUCH better on the Switch than it was when I played it on PS3 back in the day. I’m also glad I didn’t buy this version on PS4 because this edition came with the sheep keychain and it’s so nice to have extras! The game itself is incredibly fun, can be frustrating at times though, but no game is good without a challenge. The characters are eccentric, the story’s great, and the gameplay makes for a super immersive experience, which is why this game is so great. The English dub is actually NOT cringeworthy and it’s the only reason I keep it dubbed. If you have the settings on Japanese audio with subtitles, not everything gets subtitled (which is weird), so I don’t recommend that option. I do, however recommend this game! ... show more

Catherine: Full Body is a more polished version of Catherine from the Xbox 360/PS3 days, with more content, more characters, and more story options. I personally think this is the best Catherine has ever been, but it does lose it's tight story focus a little when you compare it to the original, because it has to fit those new characters and story beats in somewhere. If you have a way to play the original Catherine, there isn't anything wrong with it, but as far as I can see, there is no reason to skip out on this remake if you're interested. ... show more

As a remaster + update of a game that originally came out on the Xbox 360 and PS3, this game caught me by surprise! The core gameplay is a block tower that climb up as the bottom slowly collapses. You'll have to rearrange and move blocks to make it past obstacles and keep climbing upward In-between block towers, you'll get neat anime cutscenes and learn more about the characters and the insane story. You'll also hang out with buddies in the Stray Sheep bar, where you can talk to your buds, drink a bunch, talk with bar patrons, and a lot more. Reminds me a lot of Persona If you love Atlus and love life Sims or puzzles, definitely check this out! Even if you've already played it years ago ... show more
