  • Very nice padding
Size: 0.5-inch Color: Black
I finally found an English saddle to fit my very hard to fit draft horse BUT it makes my butt bones terribly uncomfortable after about an hour in the saddle. Plus the seat of the saddle is a touch big for me. This seat cushion did the trick and now I'm able to ride for much longer in comfort plus I don't slide around in the too big seat of the saddle. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this product!!! ... show more

  • cashel cushion
This is great! it doesn't move around while I'm riding. It provides enough cushion without feeling like there is something huge between me and my horse. very good product.

  • Seams rub saddle
Size: 0.75-inch Color: Black
Love the idea of a padded seat, but the way this one attaches to the saddle, it will rub and leave marks. Attach as directed, and there is a horizontal strap face down right on the seat of your saddle. If you think to flip it the over, then not only would you be sitting on the strap, but the buckles would then rub. Disappointing, as all of cashels other products are excellently designed. ... show more

  • Comfy and stays put
Size: 0.5-inch Color: Black
It's ugly, but it works. If you can, you're better off buying a saddle that actually fits you well and is comfortable. But if you have to ride in a saddle that makes your butt hurt, or if you've got back/hip issues that would benefit from some extra shock absorption, this will do the trick. I ride three times a week, but I don't own a horse, so I'm not riding in my own saddle. I'm not that finicky about saddles and am generally pretty comfortable in a wide range of styles/sizes, but one of the ponies I ride regularly has an incredibly uncomfortable saddle. It fits him really well, but is just all wrong for my body. I found myself tipping forward into a half seat to avoid the uncomfortable pressure on my seat bones and something about the saddle flared up my old back and hip issues. I had never used a gel saddle cover before and when this arrived, it felt nice and squishy, but I was skeptical that it would actually stay put. After a few rides, I'm very happy with it. It is easy to get on and off the saddle and it provides quite a bit of cushioning with no slipping at all, even when it's not held down by your weight. Posting and two point are fine -- it doesn't roll up in the back or move. And somebody was feeling a little frisky today because the weather turned cooler, and it didn't shift at all when he decided he wanted to hop around and then chase after a cantering OTTB when we were supposed to be trotting. That amount of bouncing would have been torture without the gel pad. With it, my back and hip and seat bones are all fine. Drawbacks? Well aside from being ugly, it's a bit hot. I bought it in late August and it made riding in the heat/humidity even more sticky and uncomfortable. But it's way more squishy and way less hot than a fuzzy saddle cover. It's also not a miracle fix for a bad saddle. I would much rather ride in something that fit me better, but as I don't have the option, I'm glad I have this thing. ... show more

  • Functional but not as good as the foam
I bought this gel pad for comfort on an 8hr trail ride and my arse was very sore. Next day I tried a friends foam seat saver and it was better. If you looking for comfort for a long ride use the foam, but if its just for quick rides the gel pad should do just fine.

  • Good shock absorber. Just the right thickness.
Size: 0.75-inch Color: Black
I was hoping that I could return to riding after retirement. I had a spinal fusion in 2008 and was not sure if I would ever saddle up again. I am using this cushion with a dressage saddle. I can ride three hours with no pain. No, I am not barrel racing or show jumping. However, I am enjoying the company of horses and the joys of trail riding in the mountains. I highly recommend this for anyone who has had back or hip injuries. ... show more

  • I love it
Size: 0.75-inch Color: Black
I love this thing! It makes my ride so much more enjoyable. My tailbone doesn’t hit a hard surface. My horse even seems to like it too.
