  • High quality game, quick to learn, intriguing gameplay
This game is great! It takes a little setup to pull out the right amount of tiles and the animal cards, but other than that, setup very easy. The core game has a simple set of rules that makes it easy to teach, but the actual gameplay is so much fun! There are lots of varieties of strategies and important decisions to make every turn. The game pieces are absolutely beautiful and very high quality. Definitely give it a try! ... show more

  • The best "gateway" strategy game since Splendor, fantastic for families with kids as young as 8
I tend to lean toward the "heavier" side of strategy games, things like Everdell, Terra Mystica, Castles of Burgundy, and Voyages of Marco Polo. However, sometimes you just want a fun, easy to play game that has just enough strategy to keep you interested, without jarring the sensibilities of the less "hardcore" players. In the past, Splendor was my go-to game of this kind, but I am ecstatic to add Cascadia into the mix. It's a fantastic blend of fast, easy to learn playability, with just enough strategy to keep things interesting. The core strategies are simple -- form an arrangement of animals in a pattern to score points, while attempting to match (as best as possible) the terrain types to maximize bonus scoring. The minor mechanic that lets you alter the basic tile/animal selection (the pine cone "bonus" tiles) is just perfect for adding a little bit more strategy without radically altering the core. Our family loves it. My 9 and 11 year-olds enjoy the theme with the wildlife and animals, and the overall strategy is clear to them (even if they are still learning the nuances). The parts are well made; the terrain tiles and animal tokens are a nice, thick cardstock. The bag, box, and storage are compact and easy to manage. I suspect over time this will be a game ripe for expansions, as I can see perhaps after 25+ plays that you might want more variety in animals, terrain, and scoring options. But even out of the box you're getting a fantastic game at a very good price, one that's absolutely worth having in your collection. ... show more

This is a tile laying game and is really fun and light. There are score card options that let you crank up the difficulty so plenty of replay value for all types of gamers.

  • Beautiful, easy, replayable
This is just a perfect package: good price, beautiful components, sleek game design, and really enjoyable gameplay. It’s also surprisingly fun solo and very re-playable overall.

  • Very entertaining.
My wife and parents in law love this game. It’s a good two person or multiperson game. It’s a great length once you get the rules and pretty easy to teach but also has layers relating to strategy.

  • Beautiful and Fun
The directions were a little confusing, there’s a lot going on. We had to look up a video to understand. The pictures are beautiful, the pieces and cards are very high quality. And I love that this game doesn’t really pit you against the other people playing. You are trying to get more points, but there aren’t really ways to sabotage each other. You’re more just getting to talk while you play. Nice cozy game. ... show more

  • Fun game to play!!
My husband and I love playing this game with just ourselves. But, we can also play with family members. It is an easy game to learn and it has four different scenarios to choose. The game takes about 45-60 minutes to play. We highly recommend this game. It has an expansion pack, too.
